ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT: JACKSON PUCKEY '16 Jackson Puckey, a “lifer” at Hilton Head Prep, started 1st Grade in 2004 and graduated with the Class of 2016. While at Prep, he led many student organizations, co-founded the Varsity Sailing Team, and received the Charles A. Scarminach Award. Jackson went on to attend the University of Richmond, graduating summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa with a double major in Political Science and Latin American, Latino, and Iberian Studies (and a history minor) in 2020.

In the five years since he left Hilton Head Prep, Jackson’s passion for politics has taken him everywhere from the halls of Congress to the not-so-glorious campaign trail. Before taking his current position, Jackson worked on three different political campaigns (his candidate even won one of them!) and interned in the U.S. House, the U.S. Senate, and the Virginia General Assembly. He now serves as a Field Representative for Rep. Nancy Mace (SC-01), representing the Congresswoman in events and meetings across South Carolina’s Lowcountry.

Jackson lives on Hilton Head Island with his 3-month-old Coton de Tulear puppy, Reilley. He fills his (limited) free time by traveling, boating, beaching, and spending time with his grandparents. Now that he is back on Hilton Head, Jackson is eager to work with Hilton Head Prep to further opportunities for alumni involvement and mentorship of current students.

“I attribute the bulk of my success to the amazing education I received at Hilton Head Prep. Whether it was the stellar writing instruction I received from Mrs. Hudak and Mr. VanGroningen in the Upper School, or the encouragement Mrs. Inglis gave me in 1st Grade to learn more about government and politics, Prep always gave me the tools to follow my passions. I have lifelong friends from Prep that I talk with every week and wouldn’t trade for the world.”

KRISTI (BASIRICO) GOODWIN '91 JOINS THE BUSINESS OFFICE AT HHP Kristi Basirico Goodwin '91 has been named the new Assistant Business Manager for Hilton Head Prep. She is an HHP "Lifer" and earned her BSBA degree in Business/Marketing from Villanova University. She spent the start of her career in corporate retail in the Northeast until the "Lowcountry life" called her back home to Hilton Head to be closer to her family. She continued her career as a retail buyer in the golf and resort industries before and after having her two children, Cameron (a 6th grader at Prep) and Jenson (a 5th grader at Prep). Kristi is happy to have two legacy students attending Prep this year and is excited that she gets to step in and join the Prep faculty following in her dad's, Coach Rich Basirico, footsteps after his retirement following 42 years at Hilton Head Prep.

Kristi says, "There are a lot of new changes at Hilton Head Prep since I attended school here, but there is a feeling of home and it is great to be on campus again. I am excited to watch my children make their own memories as HHP Dolphins."

The Alumni Association presents our 1st Annual Five Card Poker Boat Run. We are so excited to host this new and fun event for the community! The Poker Run will start at 1pm and participants will visit five different stops to get your poker cards.

The 5th stop will be hosted by Up The Creek where we will also hold an after party and prizes will be awarded for the top three hands! So get your boats (or cars) ready for a fun day of poker!

Save the date and stay tuned for more information on how to register. *Each boat/car must have a responsible, designated driver during this event.

PREP TO HOLD CAREER DAY FOR THE CLASS OF 2022 FEATURING ALUMNI This year, Prep will host a Career Day for our senior class on Wednesday, October 13, 2021. We are excited to have several of our alumni visit and speak with the senior class about life after college as well as breakout groups for specific professional industries. If you are interested in speaking with our senior class about your career field please reach out to Leslie Hart, Director of Alumni Relations, at lhart@hhprep.org

Robin says that Milo is "all boy and is very active and curious".
