Our Mission The mission of the Hilton Head Preparatory School Alumni Association is to cultivate, promote, and renew relationships among alumni of Sea Pines Academy, May River Academy, and Hilton Head Preparatory School by fostering strong connections with each other and the school. In addition, the Association seeks to encourage alumni support of Hilton Head Prep though volunteer and philanthropic participation, to support the student experience on campus and to create an understanding of the Association among undergraduates. Furthermore, the Association will work to promote awareness of alumni achievements and accomplishments.

HERITAGE ALUMNI SOCIAL A fantastic time was had by all at our 2022 Heritage Alumni Social on Saturday, April 16, 2022! Hilton Head Prep Alumni joined us from near and far to catch up with old friends and classmates! Alumni were treated to BBQ by our very own Andrew Hazel '06, cold, refreshing beer from Lincoln and South Brewing Company, and Bloody Marys from Bloody Mary Mixing Company. We enjoyed views of the 18th hole during the social thanks to Island Getaway Rentals! Save the Date for Saturday, April 15, 2023 as we will get our plaid on once again!

ALUMNI Sam Bauer '84 Sam Bauer, Class of 1984, was born in Mobile, Alabama. After graduation, Sam attended Spring Hill College (BS 1988) and obtained his law degree from the University of Alabama in 1991 before returning to Beaufort County to serve as public defender. As an attorney, Sam takes pride in his service to the legal community. He is death penalty certified by the courts of South Carolina. He has served as President of the Beaufort County Bar Association and of the South Carolina Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. He has been a full member of the National College of DUI Defense Lawyers and a member of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences, Jurisprudence section. He is a regular instructor for the South Carolina Summary Court Judges School, and numerous legal associations statewide, lecturing on topics including Constitutional Law, Legal Ethics, Evidential Alcohol Analysis, and Forensic Sciences. For the past three years, Sam has been recognized by South Carolina Super Lawyers for his contributions to the legal field. Throughout his education and long into his legal practice, Sam was "entrusted with the safekeeping" of the Sea Pines Academy bell. There was a long tradition of stealing the bell that hung in the bell tower on campus during the school year and returning it at graduation, but the Class of 1984 never returned it. Although the bell changed hands many times, Sam was instrumental in returning the bell to the Hilton Head Prep at the graduation ceremony of the Class of 2005. Sam currently serves as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Hilton Head Prep and received the 2022 Alumni Distinguished Citizen Award. Sam and his wife, Mackenzie, have two beautiful daughters, Izzy (Class of 2025), Sylvie (7 months), and four step-children, Colin, Quinn, Rymer, and Penny. When not in a courtroom, you will find Sam enthusiastically cheering on Izzy and the Dolphins at every soccer, volleyball, and basketball game.

CLASS OF 2022 ALUMNI INDUCTION CEREMONY On Friday, May 20, 2022, Hilton Head Prep inducted 67 seniors, Prep's largest graduating class, into the Alumni Association. The ceremony was created to formally represent the transition from student to alumnus at Hilton Head Prep. The graduates were treated to breakfast and were welcomed by Alumni Association members Addison (Goss) Cook '06 (President of the Alumni Board), Margaret Crenshaw '85 (Vice President of the Alumni Board), Nancy Fish '83 (Alumni Board member), Laird Dorsner '00 (Alumni Board member), Sam Bauer '84 (Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Alumni Association member) and Ella Alsko '20 (Alumni Association member). The graduates were presented with an Alumni Association gift as well as a $2 bill to make their first donation to Prep as an alum and an additional $2 to keep as a token of good luck. Congratulations to the Class of 2022!
