PHILLIP PARSH, PRESIDENT
Tara Board of Directors
Summer is behind us and many of our up north friends and neighbors are beginning to return. We are looking forward to a fun filled winter season with many events planned. The clubhouse remodel and refresh will begin soon and there will be some inconvenience to our members. Thank you everyone for your patience, the updated clubhouse project will be well worth the wait.
The Tara community started over 35 years ago and as we look at Tara today, we see ourselves as a desirable and vibrant community. Over the years leadership has made some hard decisions to keep Tara relevant, and we continue to be the best value in southwest Florida. As we can all attest to, change can sometimes be challenging, however most of the changes made have turned out to be positive. We have always strived to maintain our amenities in tip-top pristine condition and add amenities when needed keeping in mind that we must be sure that the community’s money is spent responsibly.
Let’s continue to support one another. I wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving.

Our mission is to unite our community by creating opportunities for meaningful social events that foster fulfillment, fun, and lasting connections for all Members. We are committed to ensuring every Member feels welcomed, valued, and included, creating an environment where everyone can engage and enjoy the experience.

MESSAGE FROM DAVID TAYLOR, GENERAL MANAGER
dtaylor@taragcc.com
Tara Golf and Country Club Members,
Who can believe that season is upon us already? It feels like just yesterday we were catching our breath from summer, and now the holidays are already within sight. Time moves quickly here at Tara, especially when the days are full and the community is thriving.

I want to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who joined me in celebrating my one-year anniversary as your General Manager—and to all those who reached out with kind words and encouragement. It’s been an incredible year of progress, partnership, and pride. Together, we’ve continued to build upon what makes Tara so special: a sense of belonging, respect for one another, and a shared commitment to excellence.
Our Clubhouse Refresh Project continues to move forward, though admittedly at a slower pace than any of us would like. We are currently in the permitting phase , and—much like our experience with pickleball—this process rests in the capable but deliberate hands of Manatee County . Once we receive approval, construction will begin in two phases
• Phase One will involve closing the current dining room and patios. This will be the longest portion of the project, expected to take roughly six months .
• Phase Two will move more quickly, focusing on the bar and grill area and enclosing the small patio to create a seamless, unified clubhouse experience. This phase is estimated to take about three months
While progress can sometimes test our patience, it’s worth remembering that every improvement we make brings us one step closer to the future we envision for Tara—a place that honors its tradition while embracing a new era of hospitality and warmth.
Looking ahead, our Thanksgiving celebration is already filling up quickly, so please be sure to make your reservations early . It’s always one of the most cherished days of the year, and we look forward to sharing in the spirit of gratitude together.
Lastly, I’m thrilled to welcome a new member to our management team— Bryan Allen , our new Food & Beverage Manager . Bryan brings a remarkable blend of experience both in the front of the house and, uniquely, as a former chef. His leadership, creativity, and hospitality mindset will be tremendous assets as we elevate the dining experience here at Tara.
As we enter this season of thanks, I’m reminded that what makes a club truly great isn’t just the facilities or the food—it’s the people. It’s the conversations at the table, the friendships on the course, and the way we show up for one another.
Respectfully,
David Taylor

Dear Tara Members,

As the bustling golf season draws near, we would like to remind all our valued Members about the critical importance of maintaining a smooth pace of play on the course.
If you enjoy a leisurely game or are just starting out in golf, we kindly ask you to consider teeing off during non-peak hours. Slow play can disrupt the flow of the game for those waiting behind you, and keep in mind that these fellow golfers are your friends, neighbors, and fellow club Members who are eager to enjoy a fulfilling round under the sun. Your understanding and cooperation in ensuring an enjoyable golfing experience for all is greatly appreciated!
Some pace of play ideas to keep speed up:
• Playing different sets of tees can make your round much slower. Play same tees whenever possible.
• Be ready when it’s your turn to hit.
• Golf talk is after the round, save those fun stories for after.
• Always park ahead, never walk behind to hit shots.
• If you are the driver, make sure you take your cart partner directly to their ball.
Another note of importance:
To maintain the integrity of the game, environment, and players, we kindly ask that you use the restroom facilities provided and refrain from doing so on the course. We believe in the importance of fostering a respectful golfing environment for all our Members, and we count on each of you to uphold these standards.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
Upcoming special events in November:
• 2nd - Time Change – Change your clocks.
• 7th – Callaway Fitting Day 10:00am – 2:00pm
• 15th – 9 and Dine Event - 3:00pm Shotgun
• 27th – Thanksgiving - 8:30am Shotgun - Open Golf Only/PM Closed
• 28th – Black Friday Golf Shop Sale – All Day

MESSAGE FROM DON ABELL, COURSE
SUPERINTENDENT

Ball marks are those indentations on the green caused when a ball lands sharply on the green. Par three greens typically have the most ball marks due to the shorter irons that are hit into the green. Please repair your ball marks before you make your putt. An unrepaired ball mark may take two to three weeks to heal, leaving behind unsightly and uneven putting surfaces. On the other hand, a ball mark repaired correctly may take half the time to heal. There is really not much to fixing a ball mark the correct way, but there are a few guide lines you need to follow when making these repairs. You need a ball repair tool, knife, or even a tee. You want to insert your tool at the edges of the ball mark, and not in the middle. You will want to gently bring the edges toward the center with a slight twisting motion, be careful not to lift the center tearing the grass. Once you have the indentation repaired, gently tap the mark with your foot or the bottom of your putter face. When you are done, there should be a surface that you yourself would want to putt over. Beginner or pro, it is your responsibility as a golfer to fix your own ball marks. If you are a real steward of the game, then you will fix any other ball marks you see while waiting for your partners to putt out.

As the weather begins to cool, our busy season at Tara is officially here — and there’s so much to look forward to!
We’d like to start by recognizing our Social Committee, who did an incredible job throughout Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Through raffles, themed Friday nights, and fun games, they raised an impressive amount in support of the Answer to Cancer SRQ Research Project , which focuses on the link between breast cancer recurrence and aging. A heartfelt thank-you goes out to our volunteers for their time and energy each week.
November is packed with activity! Bocce Ball returns on November 3rd with 32 teams and more than 300 players ready for another great season. That same day, we’ll host our Pop-Up Fall Boutique Fashion Show , featuring items from Janet A. Carr, a runway show highlighting breast cancer survivors , and a festive afternoon of themed cocktails and delicious appetizers.
We’ll honor our heroes at the Veterans Day Dinner on Tuesday, November 11th , with a special tribute that includes the Armed Forces service songs , introductions of each branch, and words of appreciation following dinner.
Then it’s on to Thanksgiving! Join us for our Thanksgiving Buffet on Thursday, November 27th , from 11:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. (last seating at 3:45 p.m.), featuring all your traditional favorites. For those who prefer to celebrate at home, our to-go menu will be available from 11:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
We’re also thrilled to announce the upcoming grand opening of our new pickleball courts! This exciting new amenity will soon be ready for all members to enjoy—stay tuned for more details.
Here’s to a wonderful season at Tara and a joyful start to the holidays.
Warm regards,
Olivia Baldassari

Dear Tara Residents,
The board is currently working on the 2026 budget and homeowners should watch for the annual dues statement that will be mailed at the beginning of December. The statement will include an increase due to rising Comcast and other TMA costs. The board remains committed to fulfilling its fiduciary duty by keeping costs manageable while providing the best possible services to homeowners.
While many residents come to Tara to relax and enjoy themselves, how about joining a committee to help our association? This is a great way for you to become more involved in the community and make a difference! Please check the TMA website for the application form to join a committee.
The Community Affairs Council needs a Chairperson to work with Board Liaison, Deb Mazzaferro. This is an ad hoc committee that works on issues that impact our community from time to time as we did by defeating the rezoning of the lots at Stone River Road and Tara Blvd to accommodate apartments. There’s nothing pressing at the moment, but we need a resident who is willing to learn the ropes and be ready to mobilize if something comes up. Click here for a description of the work the CAC does. You can reach Deb at TMA.Director2@gmail.com .
The next regular scheduled board meeting, when the 2026 budget will be approved, will be in early November. Watch for an email with the exact date. Please join us to keep up to date with TMA activities.
Sincerely,
Kim Loskota
President Tara Master Association

MESSAGE FROM KAREN CARDOZO, TMA BOARD DIRECTOR
Happy Thanksgiving, Tara Residents!
COMMUNICATIONS REMINDER: G-mail account: tmalandscaping1@gmail.com
Just a reminder that you can communicate with the TMA Landscape Committee to report concerns ranging from irrigation, lighting, flagpole issues, flowers, plants & trees or any other issue you observe either on Tara Boulevard from State Road 70 to Tara Preserve Lane, down Tara Preserve Lane to Linger Lodge Road and on Braden River Road.
Your extra set of eyes will help us address problems faster or let us know we are on the right track with the enhancements we are making on your behalf. This site will be monitored by the Committee Chair, Karen Cardozo, and you will receive a reply to any emails within 48 hours.
Over the last month, the following concerns were identified and resolved:
• The issues with the sewer lines at the northeast corner of Tara Blvd & Stone River Road were repaired by Manatee County
• The fungus in the grass along Tara Blvd was treated and the grass should “green up” shortly. This did delay the installation of some of the viburnum shrubs that needed to be replaced until mid-October since we had to temporarily reduce watering time.
• Our landscape vendor, GreenTech, replaced some flowers at the front entrance and in some of the median flowerbeds
All this work was completed at no additional charge to the TMA!
There was a car accident on Tara Blvd in mid-October which caused damage in the median south of Stone River Road. The TMA and our property management company, Condominium Associates, are working with the driver’s insurance company. Please be patient as this will take some time to resolve.
The holiday lighting at the front entrance is scheduled for installation in late November. We are using a new vendor this year and expect a more professional looking display.
The TMA Landscape Committee members are: Karen Cardozo, Deb King, Chris Hoskinson, Marian Murdoch and Bob O’Tain. If you are interested in joining this fantastic team, please e-mail the Committee @ tmalandscaping1@ gmail.com as we are always looking for interested Members.
Best Regards,
Karen Cardozo
TMA Board Director

As we move into the heart of fall, the ARC continues its commitment to maintaining the beauty and standards of our community. Here’s what’s happening:
November kicked off with inspections of single-family homes. Next up: condos and villas, which are scheduled for inspection in December. We appreciate your cooperation in keeping Tara looking its best.
ARC violation letters have been mailed to homeowners where necessary. While some may prefer a personal call or visit, our community documents require that all notices be issued in writing. This ensures consistency and fairness across the board. Each notice includes a compliance form for your convenience.
Please remember: ARC members are your neighbors—volunteers working diligently to uphold our shared standards. If you have questions, concerns, or unique circumstances, don’t hesitate to contact the office. We’re here to help.
With football season in full swing, a friendly reminder to follow ARC guidelines when flying team flags. Flags should be event-specific, flown only on the day of the event and displayed respectfully. Let’s keep our community spirited and orderly!
For homeowners whose property backs up to the Tara wall: please maintain a three-foot easement between your landscaping and the wall. This access is essential for Don Abel and his crew to perform maintenance tasks like power washing and painting. No vegetation should grow on or over the wall—thank you for helping us preserve this shared space.
From all of us at the ARC, thank you for your continued support and care for our community. May your holiday be filled with gratitude, good company, and joy.
Irene Ras ARC chair

DID YOU KNOW THERE IS A HOOK INSIDE YOUR NEW BIG GARBAGE BIN?
Now that you’ve had some time managing the new once-a-week garbage schedule and the bigger can, you may feel that the big bin has made things more difficult for you when placing garbage in it or when trying to retrieve a trash bag you put in earlier.
The big bin is too deep to simply reach inside and be able to grab your trash bag that has fallen to the bottom to add something to it. Fortunately, this little hook, that you may have missed, could really help. It is located in the middle on the right side of the inside cover of your big bin. It is the exact same color as the bin so it’s easy to miss and even though it’s small, it works great to hang a plastic trash bag on. You can then easily raise and lower the lid and the trash bag stays hooked. This enables you to add garbage to your trash bag throughout the week either by just placing it directly in the bag with the lid up or by easily removing the bag to put more garbage in and then rehanging it. Once it’s full, drop it to the bottom and rehang another trash bag. Just make sure on garbage pickup day to check under your lid and unhook any trash bags that still may be hanging so that they will easily fall into the garbage truck.
On another note, the recycling cans also have this hook but as Manatee County wants us to place all recycling directly in the can and not to use any bags for recycling please don’t use this hook in the same manner as your garbage bin.

Dear Tara Members,
We welcome back all our seasonal Members, and we look forward to your comments on the new roof, landscaping, and other updates!
The Proud to Wear Pink golf outing and fundraiser was a huge success. Thanks to all of the Tara Members & Guests who supported this fundraiser the entire month of October. The committee raised over $31,000 for Breast Cancer locally to My Breast Friends 941. Save the date for next year which is October 24, 2026.
On October 27, 2025, the Tara Board of Directors approved adding the Pickleball Dress Code that was adopted by both the Fitness & Rec Committee and the House Committee.
We are working to update the House Committee charter in relation to other committees to ensure clear guidelines and direction.
The committee has identified key areas for attention, including course restrooms, planters outside the grill room, firepit/bocce area, and areas around the gym. Please contact a member of the house committee if you see areas requiring maintenance.
The House Committee has been working closely with Tara Management, Members of the BOD, the Architect, the Designer, and the General Contractor to finalize the finer details and have applied for permits with Manatee County. The project will commence in 2 phases as presented to the Tara Community. Drawings of the project, furniture selected, and other amenities are located in either the main lobby of the clubhouse or in the office. The House Committee in conjunction with Tara Management will be keeping our members updated.
Sincerely,
John Bourjaily House Chairman

Thankful for Our Tara Community!
As we welcome November, our hearts are full of gratitude for the spirit that makes Tara Golf & Country Club such a special place to belong. Every event, smile, and shared moment reflects our purpose to bring people together, create meaningful connections, and ensure that every member feels welcomed, valued, and included.
Your kindness, laughter, and generosity continue to unite us as one community, and for that, we are truly thankful.
October at Tara has been filled with pink pride and purpose. So far, our members have raised $2,397 in support of Answer to Cancer SRQ , benefiting the Gomes Lab at Moffitt Cancer Center . From Make It Pink Fridays and Bubble Gum Contests to the Pink Bubble Gum Dance Party and games and raffles, the energy and generosity have been incredible.
We will wrap up our 3rd year supporting this cause with our Answer to Cancer Fashion Show on November 3 , featuring Tara’s very own breast cancer survivors as models . This inspiring event celebrates strength, courage, and community spirit, with 10% of proceeds benefiting the cause. Let’s close out this campaign with gratitude, laughter, and shared purpose as we continue to make a difference together.
On Tuesday, November 11 , Tara Golf & Country Club will proudly host a Veterans Day Dinner and Celebration from 5:00 to 8:30 p.m. The evening will begin with the National Anthem , followed by the introduction of each military branch , a recognition of our veterans , a sing-along of the Armed Forces songs , and a Veteran’s Prayer
We look forward to coming together as a community to honor the service, courage, and sacrifice of our nation’s heroes in a setting of pride, gratitude, and heartfelt appreciation.
As Thanksgiving approaches, may we take time to appreciate one another and the blessings of belonging to such a caring and connected community. At Tara, every event reminds us that we are more than neighbors, we are family.
Warmly,
Jodi Schleter Chair, Tara Golf & Country Club Social Committee
