EAGLE HARBOR GOLF CLUB

FLEMING ISLAND, FL

SAY HELLO TO TYLER MAWHINNEY

Some of you may know who he is, but we at Eagle Harbor Golf Club wanted to formally introduce you to one of the best amateur golfers in not only the country, but the world! Tyler has been at Eagle Harbor in Fleming Island, FL for 10 years working to develop into the player that he has become. His consistency and persistence are unmatched. The daily grind that he enjoys so much is what has attributed to his success.

This snippet about the player Tyler has become is inspired by his recent success in huge events.

In August, he won the Canadian Amateur Championship which qualified him for the US Amateur, where he made it to the Round of 16! The win also puts him into next year’s RBC Canadian Open and automatically qualifies him for the final stage of US Open Qualifying.

This young man is just 16 years old, and it is a privilege to say that he grew up at Eagle Harbor Golf Club!

HIGHLIGHTS FROM TALONS

Our live music nights continue to bring in great crowds. We had a blast hosting Elvis Night, which was a huge success and left everyone wanting more. We also rolled out our new menu at the end of August, and it’s been a big hit with Guests! As we look ahead to fall, we’re gearing up for more exciting events and are ready to keep the fun going for a fantastic season.

GLEN KERNAN CLUB

JACKSONVILLE, FL

At Glen Kernan, the tennis season is off to a thrilling start as teams B1, B2, and C2 make a powerful debut on our brand-new hydro courts. Kicking off their competition in August, these teams have quickly demonstrated their dedication and teamwork, setting a high bar for the season. The new hydro courts, with their advanced surface and enhanced playability, have clearly given our teams a competitive edge, allowing them to showcase their skills and determination. Our new hydro tennis courts offer an exceptional playing experience with their innovative design, featuring a water-permeable surface that ensures optimal grip and reduced impact on players' joints. The advanced technology provides consistent, top-notch conditions regardless of weather, enhancing both playability and enjoyment.

Paralysis by analysis - don't think and hit. Trying to review a long checklist while hitting the ball at the same time is pretty much impossible. You might think that reminding yourself to watch the ball, judge spacing, ready the racquet by turning your shoulders, relaxing the grip, exhaling at impact, and following through might help you play better, but it will not. Reminding yourself of all these things will only make you play worse.

You will only be able to manage it from muscle memory, and the only way to establish muscle memory is through repetition. PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE. You do not think about how to swallow or how to walk for example. No need, it is easily right there on your hard drive. It will be the same with your game the more you practice. Use repetition when working on your technique. When playing matches, let your mind be free so your body can do what it knows best.

NICK BELROSE

Northland Country Club is thrilled to share our tiramisu dessert created by Nick Belrose. Nick has been with Northland for a little over three years and he suggested tiramisu for our summer menu. I asked Nick to do a deep dive on tiramisu specifically and semifreddo desserts in general. He came up with a fantastic way to make the dessert his own and personal to the club.

We settled on individual desserts and talked about incorporating the club logo on top of the dessert. Initially, Nick printed out the logo and hand-cut a stencil to dust the top of the dessert with cocoa powder. We agreed that the stencil’s life expectancy was short, and Nick sourced a 3D printer and created a durable stencil for minimal cost. Props to Nick!

CHEESECAKE SHOOTERS

3lbs Cream Cheese (softened - room temp)

1 C Whole Milk

17oz Sugar

1 T Vanilla

Matt Carroll presenting Max Telford with a $50 Publix Gift Card for his above & beyond role in taking on tasks outside of his regular golf shop daily duties.

Place cream cheese in mixer and add sugar, vanilla and mix with paddle, gradually adding milk halfway through. Using a spatula, scrape down sides and continue to mix until incorporated.

Using fresh berries, make raspberry jam, blueberry jam, strawberry jam and blackberry jam. (Basic recipe -2 pints fresh berry, cup sugar, 1/4 C water, zest and juice of 1 lemon, place all in sauce pot, bring to boil and simmer for about 20-25 minutes.)

Pour into Vita Mixer and purée, strain through Chinois to get seeds out, cool properly, reserve. Fill piping bag with cream cheese mixture, pipe into shot cups 1/4 full; on top of that, pour one of the jams 1/4 full, then more cream cheese mixture on top of the jam. Garnish filled shot cups with same berry as the jam as well as a demitasse spoon. For more information: kmccaffery@hampton.golf
