TARA COMMUNITY NEWS

MESSAGE FROM PHILLIP PARSH,

The Board of Directors met twice in August to decide on a General Contractor and funding for the clubhouse refresh and remodel project. I would like to thank David and the volunteers for their hard work and time in bringing information to the board. The next step will be for permits to be secured from the county and the work to be started this fall.

In the recent Best of Bradenton People’s choice awards, I am proud to report that Tara GCC was voted the best golfing community in the Bradenton area. Thank you to all the Volunteers, Management and Team members for all the hard work in making Tara a place we can all be proud of.

Let’s keep the positive feeling moving in the right direction and thank you for your continued support.

TARA’S MISSION:

Our mission is to unite our community by creating opportunities for meaningful social events that foster fulfillment, fun, and lasting connections for all Members. We are committed to ensuring every Member feels welcomed, valued, and included, creating an environment where everyone can engage and enjoy the experience.

TARA COMMUNITY NEWS

Dear Members,

This September marks a season of progress, momentum, and a shared sense of purpose here at Tara Golf and Country Club. Together, we are shaping the future of our community, and I could not be more proud of the work being done and the road that lies ahead.

Clubhouse Refresh – Moving Forward

We have officially selected a general contractor for the clubhouse refresh project. This is a significant milestone, and we’re excited to take the next steps with all of you. To keep our commitment to transparency and collaboration, we will be hosting another Member Town Hall on Tuesday, September 30th at 4:00 p.m. Please join us as we share updates, listen to your feedback, and continue building a clubhouse we can all be proud of.

A New Era in Technology – Club Essentials

Our staff has been working tirelessly on the transition from Northstar to our new point-of-sale system, Club Essentials. Beginning September 1st, you’ll see a brand-new Member website, more robust reporting tools, and a platform that is easier to use for both staff and Members. Importantly, this upgrade will also do away with the Chelsea tee time system, making your experience simpler and smoother. Now, with any big change comes a few bumps along the way. So we ask for your patience—with the staff, and with each other—as we work through those early hiccups. The end result will be worth it.

Ongoing Improvements to Our Campus

We’re not just upgrading our technology—we’re also continuing to strengthen the foundation of our facilities. The new roofs across our property are now complete. Not only do they look fantastic, but they are built to last for more than three decades. This month, we will also begin beautifying the parking lot landscape. The improvements will include a widening of the cart staging area to make traffic flow more efficient and welcoming.

Looking Ahead

At Tara, we’re always balancing the projects that are wrapping up with the exciting initiatives just beginning. This progress is only possible because of your support, your trust, and the dedication of our incredible team. We’ll continue to keep you updated every step of the way as we bring these plans to life.

So let’s move forward together—confident, optimistic, and united in our commitment to make Tara the very best it can be.

Respectfully,

TARA COMMUNITY NEWS

TARA COURSE HAPPENINGS

MESSAGE FROM DON ABELL, COURSE

941.751.5593 | dabell@taragcc.com

Verticutting and Topdressing is done to the golf course in order to provide excellent conditions on the greens. This cultural practice is as relevant as drinking water, eating and sleeping for humans. Golf course maintenance verticuts and topdresses on a bi-weekly basis to promote the health of the greens and to provide for a smoother ball roll. Below are the benefits of Verticutting and Topdressing.

• Verticutting removes thatch, reduces grain and forces the remaining turf to stand up straight and smooth the putting surface for better ball roll.

• Verticutting opens the turf canopy to allow in more sunlight and also to promote water and nutrient penetration.

• Vertical mowing allows the plant to put more energy into growing upright shoots instead of lateral shoots.

• Verticutting, thins the turf canopy creating space for topdressing sand to be worked into the soil and thatch layer.

• Topdressing produces a smooth, firm putting surface.

• Topdressing controls thatch, improves drainage and improves biological balance.

• Topdressing protects the crown of the plant.

• Improves soil composition, by creating a less compaction prone growing medium. This helps turf cope better with stress brought on by heat and overuse.

Although verticutting and topdressing can be disruptive to play at times this cultural practice is necessary for the health of the greens and to have optimum putting green surfaces.

The following is the aerification schedule for the rest of the summer.

• September 8th-10th: Final Aerification

TARA FOOD & BEVERAGE NEWS

A NOTE FROM SAMANTHA CROCKER

FOOD & BEVERAGE MANAGER

941.758.7775 x1225 | scrocker@taragcc.com

Dear Members,

What a month it has been here at Tara, and we couldn’t have done it without you!

We started things off with our very first Sip & Paint, and what a blast it was. Brushes were flying, wine glasses were clinking, and the creativity in the room was contagious. It was so much fun seeing so many of you channel your inner artist! The best part is Sip & Paint Round Two is already on the calendar for September. The official date will be announced soon, and you will not want to miss it.

Another exciting update is the addition of Braeden as our new Assistant Food & Beverage Manager. Many of you already know him from his five years here at Tara, and we are thrilled to see him step into this new leadership role. Make sure to say hello when you see him around the dining room, as he is just as excited to be working with you all as I am.

We also ended the month with a bang at our Chef’s Table interactive experience, and what a night it was. From the chef’s creativity right in front of our intimate group of members to the debut of special sourced wines, the evening was full of incredible flavors, laughter, and connection. A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for this one-of-a-kind event.

And last but certainly not least, the Taradise Endless Summer Party was truly phenomenal. From the live music of the steel drummer and the caricature artist to the nonstop energy in the pool, the afternoon captured everything we love about summer and brought our Tara family together in the best way possible. Thank you to everyone who came out and made it such a memorable day!

As always, thank you for your support, your enthusiasm, and for bringing so much joy to every event we host. September is shaping up to be just as exciting, and we cannot wait to see you there.

Cheers,

TARA MASTER COMMUNICATION

MESSAGE FROM KIM LOSKOTA, PRESIDENT

Dear Tara Residents,

Manatee County is rolling out new trash bins for the entire county. Between August 18-September 30, the new bins will be delivered to our neighborhood. The new 96-gallon bin is only 4 inches deeper and 1 inch wider than the current recycling bin. Once you receive the new bin, you have the option to contact Manatee County to request a 64-gallon bin, which will be delivered after January 1.

Tara Master Association standards require trash and recycling bins not be stored outdoors unless in approved screening or storage areas. Once the bin is delivered, you will have two weeks to store your new bin properly. For safety reasons – especially during storm season – bins must not be left outside where they could become dangerous projectiles.

If you know someone that is away during the delivery period, please assist them in moving their bin to a safe location upon delivery.

Our association is run efficiently with the assistance of our volunteer committees. This is a great way for you to become more involved in the community and make a difference! Please check the TMA website for the application form to join a committee.

The next regular scheduled board meeting is September 18th at 9:30am at the Preserve Community Center and via Zoom. Please join us to keep up to date with TMA activities.

Sincerely,

TARA MASTER COMMUNICATION

MESSAGE FROM DENISE SMARK, TMA BOARD DIRECTOR

Tara Residents,

Summer is almost over in Bradenton and our rainy season plantings have been completed and starting to fill in beautifully. We hope our year-round residents are noticing a change in the boulevard and entryway look and for those arriving later this year, we hope the changes make you smile when you return to your Florida home!

Tara Boulevard Viburnum Hedges

The ~150 replacement hedges were planted in July and we have lost a minimal amount. GreenTech will be replacing those in September free of charge. This was a relatively low ratio of lost plants for this size project, and your TMA Landscape Committee was pleased with the results. The mulch has also been laid and has improved both the look of the hedge line, the medians and water retention efforts.

Tara Boulevard Medians

The new flowers are in along the five island medians on Tara Boulevard. While they are still filling in, their colorful appearance and design are creating a more striking appearance to our entryway and will be in full bloom and appearance by years end. These flowers are drought-tolerant, require less maintenance and will last longer than previous plantings and the TMA Landscape Committee is eager to assess these flowers over previous selections.

NEW!!! THE TMA LANDSCAPE COMMITTEE GMAIL ACCOUNT

Residents often ask us when they see our team members working in the medians or on Tara Preserve Lane how they can provide us feedback or learn more about our Committee. To facilitate your feedback/input relative to our landscape projects we have created a Gmail account for you to provide feedback, request other enhancements, show support for the changes or simply report an issue you may see such as broken sprinkler heads gone wild!

Our new email is: tmalandscaping1@gmail.com

This site will be monitored by myself and our Committee Chair, Karen Cardozo, and we intend to reply to any emails within a 48-hour period. Thanks again to our TMA Landscape Committee: Karen Cardozo, Deb King, Chris Hoskinson, Marian Murdoch and Bob O’Tain. If you are interested in joining this fantastic team, please e-mail the Committee at: tmalandscaping1@gmail.com as we are always looking for interested Members.

Best Regards,

DID YOU KNOW? FROM THE COMMUNICATIONS COMMITTEE

Did you know that your pre billed food and beverage minimum credits expire Sept. 30th?

You want to be sure you use up all of the $720 food and beverage credits that you have paid for over the past year as they expire at the end of this month. The new year starts Oct. 1 so any of the remaining credits that you haven’t used by then will be gone for good. Please note that these credits are for food and non- alcoholic beverages only and cannot be applied to tax, gratuity, or alcohol amounts.

You can see your outstanding monthly minimum credit amount at the bottom of your monthly TGCC statements under the column “remaining”. That’s the credit you still have at the end of each month. However, if you have downloaded the Tara app on your phone, you can get your up-to-date credit amount just by logging in and going to the statements tab where you’ll see the current unspent amount at the bottom. This is a great way to see how much credit you still have left at any time throughout the month so please check your current credit balance and make plans to spend your remaining credit by Sept. 30th. You can dine at the Main Dining Room, Grill Room/Bar, Snack Bar or just order Take Out using our Grab & Go feature. As a side note, in case you happen to have some Tara Bucks that work the same way, don’t worry as those credits don’t have an expiration date.

Speaking of things expiring, for all you golfers out there who have won “sweeps” in golfing events which are credits that can be used for Pro Shop merchandise or lessons only, no golf fees, these credits will expire on December 31st. They must be used by that date. Sweeps are also listed on your monthly bills and the staff can access your credit amount when you go into the Pro Shop so make plans to spend them before the end of the year.

HOUSE COMMITTEE - FROM OUR HOUSE TO YOURS

Golf Outing:

There are only 6 spots available now. The tournament needs silent auction items. Please consider donations or request an item from your favorite business. You can donate wine, a gift basket, or other items.

Refresh:

The exterior of Tara is looking contemporary and fresh. The pickleball courts are nearing completion. The roofs are nearly finished, the gardens are getting done, and the pro shop and conference room are bright and inviting. Our big landscaping project begins in September. More exciting, good things to come!

MESSAGE FROM JODI SCHLETER

The Social Committee is excited to share some fresh energy and direction with our Members!

A Mission that Matters:

We recently adopted a new mission statement that truly guides everything we do: “Our mission is to unite our community by creating opportunities for meaningful social events that foster fulfillment, fun, and lasting connections for all Members. We are committed to ensuring every Member feels welcomed, valued, and included, creating an environment where everyone can engage and enjoy the experience.”

Endless Summer by the Pool :

On August 16, we hosted our Endless Summer event, a lively evening by the pool filled with delicious food, the sounds of steel drums, caricature drawings, games, and, most importantly, a fresh new vibe that mixed plenty of new faces with our beloved regulars. This event was the first planned start to finish by our new committee in collaboration with TGCC Life & Leisure Manager Olivia and Food & Beverage Manager Sam. Their excellent facilitation and planning, paired with our committee’s brainstorming and attention to member needs, made it a true team effort and a glimpse of the great things ahead.

Looking Forward

In addition to bringing back popular favorites like Lunch & Learns, the committee is hard at work continuing a very special fundraiser: Answer to Cancer in October. All donations and monies raised will benefit Dr. Gomes’ groundbreaking research at Moffitt Cancer Center, which focuses on the intricate relationship between breast cancer metastasis and aging. Members can look forward to supporting a great cause while enjoying fun filled activities, including a Pink Bubble Gum Dance Party with Karaoke. Stay tuned for more details.

We are honored to represent you, and with our new mission as our guide, we are committed to bringing our Members together in meaningful, memorable, and fun ways to connect us.

Warmly,
