Turbocharger
The turbocharger is driven by exhaust gases which pass through the turbine housing on their way out to the exhaust system.
The exhaust gas flow causes the turbine wheel in the housing to rotate. The compressor wheel is mounted on the same shaft as the turbine wheel. The compressor wheel is placed in a housing which is connected between the air filter and the engine intake manifold. When the compressor wheel rotates, air is drawn from the air filter. The air is compressed and forced into the engine cylinders after first being cooled while passing through the charge air cooler.
