INTRODUCTION An Operator's manual, Service manual and a Parts catalog are made available by Tigercat to assist the dealer, customer and operator in becoming familiar with the features of the T750 Trencher.

The operator's manual will assist the operator with the techniques of proper and safe operation of the T750 Trencher. There is also important information regarding the safe operation of the cutting head. The service manual contains safety and servicing procedures and a preventive maintenance schedule to ensure optimum machine performance.

Section 1 in both the operator's manual and the service manual contains safety information that must be followed. As well, throughout the rest of the manuals, WARNING and CAUTION notices are displayed where necessary, drawing attention to possible hazards when performing certain procedures.

Only trained personnel should be allowed to operate or work on the machine.

The phrase “and up” appearing in this manual after the serial number implies that the related information is current for any machine serial number HIGHER than the serial number preceding the “and up”.

Tigercat reserves the right to make changes to the machine after this manual release date that may not immediately appear in this manual.

Every effort is made to send out updates on a regular basis. If the machine in question was built after the release date of this manual and there is a discrepancy, call Tigercat service department. The release date appears on the first page.

The Company reserves the right to change information contained herein at any time without prior notice.

Introduction

S.A.E. STANDARDS ROLL-OVER PROTECTION STRUCTURES (ROPS) * MODIFICATIONS AND REPAIRS: The integrity of the ROPS, structure and its continued ability to provide the level of protection it was designed for could be seriously affected by any modifications to the structure, its mounting or to the chassis to which it is attached.

Tigercat emphasizes that the certification of approval of the ROPS, structure will become void if any such modifications take place.

Tigercat may officially grant approval for modifications only by: i. Written approval of repairs or modifications signed by the Tigercat Engineering Manager; or ii. Approved modifications officially released by Tigercat.

Both of the above are provided that the work is carried out in the factory approved manner.

Unauthorized modifications and/or repairs made or contributed to by a customer or a Tigercat distributor may result in creating a dangerous situation and therefore the customer or Tigercat distributor will be considered to have assumed the risk involved or be negligent in creating this situation.

Tigercat will not be held responsible for situations arising from having created unauthorized modifications/changes to the structure.

Operator's cabs are designed to ROPS, standards so that they will withstand force and absorb energy during a roll-over (ROPS). When a permanent deflection of the structure occurs, the structure can no longer provide the original designed level of protection and should be replaced. Attempts to straighten the structure, particularly by the application of heat, can reduce still further the structures remaining capability to protect.

The mounting and the frame or chassis to which the cab is attached is considered an integral part of the ROPS, and is included in the design, test and certification of the product.

Contact the Tigercat Service department before attempting any modifications or repair to roll-over protective structures.

NON-APPROVED FIELD PRODUCT CHANGES The installation of any unauthorized attachment or changes made of any kind to this Tigercat product could affect the product's ability to perform as originally intended. The product's integrity, stability and it's ability to perform safely could be at serious risk.

IT IS Tigercat POLICY THAT NO CHANGES ARE TO BE MADE TO ITS PRODUCTS INCLUDING DELETIONS OR ADDITIONS OTHER THAN A Tigercat APPROVED OPTION FITTED IN THE FACTORY APPROVED MANNER. Official approval to make changes or install options is only to be undertaken as follows: i) The relevant options for that product must be shown or listed on current Tigercat documentation or literature such as a printed specification sheet, price list, parts manual, or product literature issued by Tigercat. ii) Approved options or product changes authorized in writing by the Tigercat Engineering Manager.

AUTHORIZATION BY ANY OTHER PERSON IS UNACCEPTABLE. Unauthorized changes made or contributed to by a person or organization may result in creating a dangerous situation and therefore the person or organization will be considered to have assumed the risk involved or be negligent in having created this situation.

Weight is an important factor when considering the addition of options or an attachment, Refer to your Tigercat distributor for information on maximum permissible operating weight and the effect the addition of various options may have on your machine.

Tigercat will not be held responsible for any situation that may arise resulting from Non-approved Field Product Changes to its product.

Should Tigercat become involved in a dispute resulting from changes made to the product without proper authorization by Tigercat as stated above, Tigercat will take whatever action is appropriate to protect its interests.

The product warranty policy and the certification on any safety items installed on the modified product will become NULL and VOID if the above policy is not adhered to as specified.

Non-approved product changes also nullify warranties given to Tigercat by its component manufacturers.

Understanding Signal Words

DANGER DANGER identifies the most serious hazards where failure to follow listed procedures would result in a high probability of death or serious injury.

WARNING WARNING denotes a hazard exists which can result in serious injury or death if proper precautions are not taken.

CAUTION CAUTION is used in areas where failure to follow listed procedures may cause personal injury, component damage or subsequent malfunction.

GENERAL SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

STAY CLEAR

Remember that safety is a prime responsibility of all.

To minimize the risks and promote safety at all times, this section of the operator’s manual details a number of safety rules which should always be followed and obeyed.

Study all the safety messages in this manual and on the labels on the machine carefully.

When approaching an operating machine on foot, stay well clear of the machine until the operator recognizes your presence. Make sure that the cutter has been shut down before advancing to the machine.

DANGER ROTATING CUTTER

Follow all instructions from safety inspector and supervisors.

The safety of persons outside the cab is the responsibility of the machine operator

You must be fully trained to operate this piece of equipment. Know the capabilities and the limitations of the equipment. Learn the most efficient operating techniques.

Wear a suitable hearing protective device such as earmuffs or earplugs to protect against noise.

Prolonged exposure to loud noise can cause impairment or loss of hearing.

Do not let an untrained person operate the machine.

Use recommended protective clothing and safety devices such as gloves, safety boots, safety hat, goggles, and ear protection when necessary.

These safety rules highlight both general and specific measures the operator should be familiar with and adhere to. More specific measures are illustrated with pictograms which may also be attached to the machine in locations pertinent to their respective message. Keep safety labels in good condition. Repair or replace damaged labels.

Use the handrails and steps provided when mounting and dismounting from the machine. Do not climb onto or jump off the machine at any time. Do not use the joysticks as a handle when entering or leaving the cab.

When mounting or dismounting the machine always use the 3 point technique - Use 1 hand with 2 feet or 2 hands with 1 foot.

Avoid mounting or dismounting the machine in areas with slippery surfaces. If this is not possible clean up or cover slippery surfaces with a nonslip material.

Safety Approach with extreme caution any area where overhanging electrical power lines are present.

Serious injury or death by electrocution can result if the machine or any of its attachments are not kept a safe distance from these lines.

GENERAL SAFETY PRECAUTIONS continued

Maintain a distance of 10 ft. (3m) between the machine or boom and any power line carrying up to 50,000 volts or less.

Power lines carrying more than 50,000 volts require a safety distance of 10 ft. (3m) plus 1/2 inch (10mm) for each additional 1,000 volts above the 50,000 volt level. If State/Provincial, local or job site regulations require even greater safety distances than stated above, adhere strictly to these regulations for your own protection.

Machines should be completely cleaned of debris at least daily, particularly around the engine exhaust components. Hydraulic oil leaks, excess grease, fuel and oil accumulation (including spillage) should be eliminated immediately.

Machine should be washed completely at every major service.

If the machine must be transported, make sure that it is adequately secured to the transporting vehicle.

Even though the brakes are fully engaged, block the wheels to prevent movement during transport.

Install the articulation lock bar when ever the machine is to be transported.

Comply with instructions in this manual and also your company’s regulations for the operation of this machine.

Keep a first aid kit in an easily accessible location on the vehicle at all times.

Read, understand and follow all general safety precautions specified by cutting head manufacturer.

Do not carry passengers either in the cab or anywhere else on the machine. The vehicle is provided and approved with seating for the operator only.

Do not allow anyone to operate the machine who may not be physically fit or who may be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Inspect the machine daily for signs of damage, unusual wear, fluid leaks, or faulty operation.

Repair or replace malfunctioning parts and systems immediately.

Do not operate the machine with any defective or inoperable components.

Do not operate the machine with any of the exhaust system, safety covers, or other devices removed.

When moving the machine, watch that enough clearance is available on both sides and above the machine or any of its attachments. Extra clearance may be required particularly where the ground is uneven.

Safety Prior to commencing work, check all equipment controls to ensure that the machine responds correctly.

OPERATING SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

Make sure that all safety screens and guards including the cab roof cover are installed and properly secured.

Do not open the cab roof cover or the cab doors to increase ventilation when operating the machine.

Keep the cab doors closed and use seat belt when driving or steering the machine to prevent being thrown from or around the operator's cab.

Shut off engine when refuelling - DO NOT refuel the engine while smoking or near open flame or sparks.

Before starting the engine, check to ensure that all doors, panels, and access covers are installed properly and secured.

Never use the parking brake to slow down or stop the machine except in an emergency. Keep the brake properly adjusted at all times.

Make sure that all of the controls are positioned as specified in the starting instructions in the operator's manual.

Always rest the cutting attachment on the ground when operation is stopped, regardless if the engine is running or shut off.

Check that no other personnel have moved into a hazardous area before starting the machine.

Sound the machine horn before starting the machine.

When the engine is running, DO NOT allow anyone in areas of the machine where they may be crushed by moving components.

Boom supports encroach on cab door opening when machine is steered.

The operator’s seat is equipped with a lap belt.

Use this restraint system at all times when operating the machine.

Start the engine according to the instructions in this manual.

Cutting operations should only be performed from the operator's seat.

Secure loose items in the cab.

Safety Before leaving operator's cab, apply the parking brake and lower the cutting attachment onto the ground.

If out of the operator's cab for an extended period shut the machine off.

Never work alone. Regularly inform other crew members of your intentions, location and length of time to perform duties.

When parking the machine:

Maintain a safe operating distance between the machine and other personnel. Never operate the boom or attachment over the heads of bystanders.

•

Park on level ground only and engage the parking brake.

•

Do not park on a hillside or incline.

•

Lower cutting attachment onto level ground.

•

Turn the master disconnect switch off if the vehicle is to be parked for an extended period of time (Example - overnight).

Use only prearranged and approved signalling practices.

Operate the machine only from a seated position in the operator’s seat.

Do not carry passengers either in the cab or anywhere else on the machine.

If vision is limited by dust, smoke, fog or snow, stop the machine until visibility is restored.

When working on slopes, travel straight up or down the slope to prevent roll-over.

When travelling on public roads, use accessory lights and other cautionary devices to provide operators of other vehicles warning of your approach. Ensure your machine meets all regulatory requirements.

NEVER travel across a STEEP slope or side hill: •

If you travel across a MODERATE slope, NEVER make an uphill turn as this could cause a tip-over situation.

•

Do not overload the machine as this can create an unstable condition and cause a rollover.

When transporting the machine watch that enough clearance is available on both sides and above the machine or any of its attachments to avoid contact with power or telephone lines, bridge structures, etc.

CAUTION

Before transporting the machine check to ensure that all doors, panels and access covers are installed properly and secured.

Do not open cab doors when machine is on a slope. The doors are heavy and could swing out with considerable force.

CAUTION

The steering system is always LIVE when engine is running. DO NOT use the steering wheel to assist entering or leaving the cab.

To operate: Close both doors and press the pilot reset switch.

CAUTION All functions on the machine can now be operated, either as intended or by accidentally touching them.

Once the safety interlock system has been activated, the safety of both the operator and all persons outside the cab will become the responsibility of the operator.

The door interlock switches and the pilot reset switch are a safety feature and their function must not be defeated in any way.

SERVICING SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

WARNING Diesel fuel or hydraulic fluid under pressure can penetrate the skin and cause serious personal injury, blindness, or death. If any fluid is injected into the skin, it must be surgically removed within a few hours by a doctor familiar with treating this type of injury.

Conduct maintenance inspections at least as frequently as recommended in section 3 of the operator's manual.

Never use bare hand to check for fluid leaks.

When servicing or repairing equipment, shut the engine down, and disconnect the positive (+) battery cable from both batteries.

Install a “DO NOT START ENGINE” sign on the operator’s cab door and in the engine compartment when making repairs to the machine.

Before performing maintenance or repair work on any equipment, consult the manufacturer’s instruction manual and follow recommended procedures.

Prior to welding on any part of the machine, it should be cleaned and a fire extinguisher should be made available at the welding location. Care must be taken in attaching the welding machine grounding clamp so current does not pass through bearings, especially the center joint bearing. Also, disconnect the positive (+) battery cable from both batteries.

Fluid leaks under pressure may not be visible.

When searching for leaks, wear work gloves and use a wrench or piece of wood to move hydraulic hoses. Do not grab hold of hydraulic hoses. Wear safety goggles for eye protection.

Pressure can be maintained in a hydraulic system long after the power source and pump have been shut down. Stop engine lower the cutting head to the ground and relieve trapped pressure (from two accumulators) by operating brake pedal 30 or more times while operating both joysticks several times before performing work on components, or disconnecting any hoses.

Explosive release of fluids from pressurized cooling system can cause serious burns.

Shut off engine. Only remove filler cap when cool enough to touch with bare hands. Slowly loosen cap to first stop to relieve pressure before removing completely.

SERVICING SAFETY PRECAUTIONS continued Do not change any pressure or relief setting unless authorized instruction has been obtained.

Use the proper tool for the job. Repair or replace worn or damaged tools including lifting equipment immediately.

Always install boom lift lock before working on or around machine with boom raised.

• Always install 'T' handle retainer bolt.

• Use only to support boom and cutting head.

• Do not use to set hydraulics pressures.

CAUTION Do not open cab doors when machine is on a slope. The doors are heavy and could swing out with considerable force.

Keep your hands, feet, head, and loose clothing away from power driven parts. Tie long hair behind your head. Remove rings and other jewelry to prevent electrical shorts and entanglement in moving parts.

WARNING Failure to follow all of the above instructions could result in serious injury or death from crushing.

Always be aware of machine pinch points that could cause injury. Never place body parts within the range of motion of the working parts of the machine.

FRAME ARTICULATION LOCK BAR

Before working in the centre joint area, install the frame articulation lock bar between the frames to prevent accidental articulation and injury.

Never stand under an object supported with hydraulics. Always use safety stands or a locking device.

CAUTION The SIDE REAR engine compartment access panels are NOT HINGED or permanently attached to the machine, but are held in place by the LOWER LATCH. Therefore they can fall during the process of removing them from the machine. Once the LATCH is opened the SIDE REAR is not fully supported and it is not safe to apply any weight or pressure to the panel, as it may fall out of the remaining supports. Use two hands to carefully remove the panel.

WARNING DO NOT work below or behind a machine that is parked on a grade.

If the engine is running inside a building, ensure that sufficient ventilation is available to prevent a buildup of toxic exhaust fumes. Run the engine only when it is necessary for testing or adjustments.

Work in a ventilated area. If it is necessary to run an engine in an enclosed area, use an exhaust pipe extension to remove toxic exhaust fumes.

If you don't have an exhaust pipe extension, either work outside, or open the shop doors.

Dispose of fluids properly.

Do not pour fluids into the ground, stream, pond or lake.

Before draining any fluids, know the proper way to dispose of them.

Read, understand and follow all operating safety precautions specified by cutting head manufacturer.

Safety • Use only nonflammable solutions for cleaning the machine or components.

FIRE PREVENTION

• Store rags and other combustible materials in a safe, fireproof location.

• Before starting repair work, such as welding, the surrounding area should be cleaned and a fire extinguisher should be close by.

• Maintain a charged fire extinguisher on the vehicle at all times and KNOW HOW TO USE IT.

When working in the machine, it is impossible to prevent combustible debris from collecting in tight corners of the machine. This debris, in itself, may result in a fire; however, when mixed with fuel, oil, or grease in a hot or confined place, the danger of fire is greatly increased.

Fire prevention features provided by the manufacturer should be maintained in 100 percent operational condition and should be used to supplement the operator’s fire prevention efforts.

In no case should the features be used, or assumed, as replacements for diligent operator efforts at preventing fires.

To reduce the chance of a fire starting, follow these instructions: • Be cautious when smoking. An open flame, a lighted cigarette, etc.., should not be permitted around any vehicle, especially during fuelling operations and/or when the fuel system is open to the atmosphere, and/or when servicing batteries.

• Clean dust and debris from the machine regularly.

• Remove debris and blow out dust from the air intake doors, engine radiator and charge air cooler, hydraulic oil cooler and A/C condenser core.

Perform this cleaning regularly to maintain efficient cooling and proper working temperatures for these critical machine components.

• Machine should be inspected at least daily for potential fire hazards at electrical, exhaust and brake systems. Repairs should be made immediately.

• Inspect electrical wiring and connections, fuel and hydraulic hose runs to ensure they are secure and not rubbing against other components.

• Clean up any excess grease and oil accumulation and spillage immediately.

This manual is applicable to factory installed machine functions and controls. It does not take into account any changes or modifications made after shipment. Verify all functions before operating this machine.

MACHINE TRAVEL

•

The T750 has two speed ranges for machine travel.

A. Working Range is used only for very low speed movement of the machine and during the cutting operation.

B. Roading Range is used only for high speed travel between cut sites. Cutting cannot be done using Roading Range.

Three separate controls on the machine work in conjunction with each other to vary the travel speed and direction of the machine in either Working Range or Roading Range. These are the TRANSMISSION GEARSHIFT LEVER, the DIRECTION / SPEED LEVER and the ROADING SPEED FOOT PEDAL. See items 1, 2 and 3 below for more complete information.

TRANSMISSION GEARSHIFT LEVER This is a three position lever LOW SPEED, NEUTRAL, HIGH SPEED. •

Low speed is to be used when cutting or when driving the machine very slowly, (Loading machine on trailer).

•

Neutral, The gearshift lever should never be left in the neutral position, except when towing.

•

High speed is to be used when driving the machine quickly, (travelling between cut sites).

To operate in Working Range Push Transmission Gearshift Lever down fully to place transmission in Low Speed.

Push the Direction / Speed Lever forward or reverse to control both the direction and speed of the machine.

To stop the machine move the Direction / Speed Lever to the center locked position.

When parking the machine move the Direction / speed Lever to the center locked position.

To operate in Roading Range

GEAR SHIFT LEVER

When parking machine, always leave the gear shift lever in low speed or high speed and with the parking brake engaged.

CAUTION

Pull Transmission Gearshift Lever up fully to place transmission in High Speed.

Push the Direction / Speed Lever forward or reverse to control the direction of the machine.

Depress the Roading Speed Foot pedal to control the speed of the machine.

To stop the machine slowly, release the Roading Speed Foot pedal.

To stop the machine quickly, release the Roading Speed Foot pedal and apply the Brake Foot pedal (item 5).

When parking the machine move the Direction / Speed Lever to the center locked position.

Machine will roll freely when in the neutral position. Apply brake foot pedal to stop machine rolling.

Gear shifting MUST NOT be done while the machine is in motion. The two speed transmission does not have the capability to mesh moving gears. If the operator shifts gears while the machine is in motion, severe damage will occur to the shift collar and its mating gears. This will result in a difficulty or inability to shift from one speed to the other.

In order to shift gears with minimum effort and without damaging the transmission, there must be no motion between the gear teeth of the shift collar and the teeth of the low or high speed gear.

SHIFTING PROCEDURE:

TRANSMISSION

•

Bring the machine to a full stop on level ground.

•

Reduce the engine speed to LOW IDLE.

By carrying out the following procedure, the service life of the transmission will be extended and costly down time will be avoided.

•

Depress brake foot pedal to hold the machine stationary.

•

Move the gearshift lever (push or pull) to engage the desired gear.

•

CHECK OIL LEVEL Check oil level at end of every 8 hour shift.

Procedure: • Park on level ground, lower cutting head, set parking brake on and turn off engine.

If the gear will not engage, the shifting collar and the mating gear have not aligned. This can be corrected by slowly turning the steering wheel to articulate the machine, which will cause the collar and gear to mesh and allow for easy shifting.

Do not depress the drive pedal

•

Clean dirt and debris from around oil dipstick and check oil level.

•

If required: add the recommended grade of oil through breather mount fitting.

Do not overfill.

3. ROADING SPEED FOOT PEDAL

DIRECTION / SPEED LEVER This is a three position lever. Pull up on the bottom of the knob to release the lever from the center, locked position. The lever can then be moved forward or reverse.

In Working Range, the Direction / Speed Lever controls both the speed and direction of travel.

To move the machine FORWARD, move the lever FORWARD. To INCREASE the speed, move the lever to a FARTHER FORWARD position. This single lever control for both travel direction and speed control works in the same way for reverse as well.

In Roading Range, the Direction / Speed Lever controls the direction of the machine only. It does not control speed. In Roading Range, the speed of the vehicle is controlled by the Roading Speed Foot Pedal.

NOTE: a. A backup horn will sound when travelling in reverse. b. Friction holds the lever in the desired position.

Depress the foot pedal to control the roading speed from fully stopped to the fastest roading speed. This foot pedal works only when the machine is in Roading Range. It does not work when in Working Range.

4. FOOT REST 5. BRAKE FOOT PEDAL Depress the foot pedal to apply the rear axle brakes when rapid braking is required.

Under normal operating conditions the machine will brake automatically.

NOTE: There are three braking systems on this machine; (a) The rear axle brake actuated by the foot pedal (5), this should be considered the primary brake. (b) The hydrostatic braking system which is part of the drive system and works when the roading speed foot pedal is released or the direction / speed lever is moved to the center locked position. (c) The Parking Brake. See item (13)

c. The center position locks the lever and the machine cannot be driven.

NOTE: As a safety precaution before working on or around the machine; After the engine has been shut off, depress this pedal 30 - 40 times to relieve any pressure that may be stored in the hydraulic pilot brake accumulator system .

WARNING This braking system will not stop the machine in low gear if the Direction / Speed Lever is engaged.

Boom Lift Move joystick FORWARD to LOWER boom.

This machine is equipped with variable ratio load sense steering. When operating on the road, a slow movement of the steering wheel will produce slower steering. Quick steering changes require rapid movement of the steering wheel.

Move joystick BACK to RAISE boom.

Boom Tilt Move joystick to the RIGHT to tilt cutting head FORWARD. Move joystick to the LEFT to tilt the cutting head BACK.

CAUTION

Thumb Switch No control function

The steering system is always LIVE when engine is running. DO NOT use the steering wheel to assist entering or leaving the cab.

PARKING BRAKE DISENGAGED POSITION

13. PARKING BRAKE PULL up on handle to ENGAGE parking brake.

PUSH down on the handle to DISENGAGE parking brake.

This parking brake operates the disc brake calliper on the transmission output shaft.

NOTE: The parking brake must be in the ENGAGED position to START the engine, and in the DISENGAGED position to DRIVE the machine.

A proximity sensor is attached to the brake lever housing. This electrical circuit prevents the machine from being driven when the parking brake is engaged.

Keep the brake properly adjusted at all times.

The parking brake linkage should be serviced (adjusted and lubricate pivots) every 500 hours under normal operating conditions.

17. OPERATOR’S SEAT (SEATS INC.)

RIDE ADJUSTMENT After adjusting height, the ride adjustment should be made by turning the RIDE ADJUSTMENT KNOB counter-clockwise until the seat cushion is level.

WARNING The seat belt supplied with this seat must be used at all times when operating this machine.

4-WAY ADJUSTABLE LUMBAR To position lumbar mechanism vertically, move VERTICAL ADJUSTMENT KNOB up or down. For fore-and-aft displacement, rotate HORIZONTAL ADJUSTMENT KNOB.

ADJUSTMENTS HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT The spring-assisted height adjustment is controlled by the HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT LEVER located on the front left side of the seat chassis.

The four height settings: top, bottom and two in between, provide a total height adjustment of 3”.

BACK ANGLE ADJUSTMENT Rotate BACK ANGLE ADJUSTMENT KNOB to place seat at the desired angle.

To Raise Firmly lift up on the HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT LEVER. When the lever releases, hold it up while partially lifting the operator’s body weight from the seat. When the seat is at the desired height, firmly push down on the lever until the seat locks (a click should be heard).

FORE/AFT SLIDE Move and hold FORE/AFT SLIDE LEVER. Roll seat forward or backward to the desired position relative to the footpedal controls.

ARMREST ADJUSTMENT Each armrest has 2 adjustments to place it in the required position. Loosen adjustment locking wingbolts to reposition armrest height and fore/aft position.

To Lower Firmly lift up on the HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT LEVER. When the lever releases, partially apply operator body weight to the seat until the seat is at the desired height. firmly push down on the lever. Hold lever down until the seat locks into position (a click should be heard).

PROBLEMS AND CORRECTIVE ACTION RIDES TOO STIFF/SEAT TENDS TO PUSH OR THROW OPERATOR FORWARD The RIDE ADJUSTMENT KNOB has been tightened (turned counter-clockwise) too much.

This typically happens because the operator is trying to use additional RIDE ADJUSTMENT KNOB rather than the HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT LEVER to raise the seat. Operator is riding the seat in the low height position setting. Refer to HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT.

the knee-action movement of the seat. This usually happens because the operator is trying to lower the seat by decreasing the amount of ride adjustment instead of using the HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT LEVER. Refer to HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT.

E. AIR CONDITIONING - VARIABLE This is a variable, rotary dial to adjust the temperature of the cooled air for the cab.

NOTE: To maximize the efficiency of the air conditioning, the heat control dial on the control panel must be rotated to the "OFF" position. Also refer to HOT WATER SHUT OF VALVE, item (21).

SEAT TOO HIGH/SEAT TOO LOW There are several things which can cause improper seat height. Refer to the HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT and adjust seat to the desired position. If the proper height cannot be reached using one of the four height adjustment settings, it may be necessary to install the seat on a higher base.

18. AIR CONDITIONER/HEATER The controls on this panel are used to adjust the heating and air conditioning temperature for operator comfort in the operator's cab.

A. A/C ON/OFF SWITCH This is a two position switch labelled ON and OFF. B. FAN SPEED - OFF/LOW/MED/HIGH This is a four position switch for the desired fan speed.

C. AIR SOURCE This is a two position switch to select either, outside fresh air or to recirculate inside air.

D. HEAT - VARIABLE This is a variable, rotary dial to adjust the amount of heated air for the cab. Make sure this control is off, when using the air conditioning.

AIR VENTS AND RE-CIRCULATING AIR FILTER

19. AIR VENTS The Air Conditioner/Heater package has seven adjustable air outlets in the cab.

20. FILTER, RECIRCULATING AIR - A/C UNIT When the AIR SOURCE switch is in the RECIRC AIR position, air in the cab is drawn into the A/C- Heater unit via this filter and recirculated. This filter is located at the base of the A/C unit, below the right arm of the operator’s seat. It should be cleaned or replaced every 125 hours. This is done by removing the two thumb screws in the filter box cover.

CHECKING THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM The A/C compressor is accessible from the left side engine compartment. The receiver dryer and A/C condensor core are accessible on the right side of the machine in the heat exchanger area.

The evaporator core is accessible on the right hand side of the machine just inside the cab door.

CHECK A/C CONDENSER CORE

a. Check and adjust compressor drive belt tension.

RECEIVER/ DRYER

b. Check air intake filters and clean as required. Refer to Items (20) and (21).

c. Check the condenser core for dirt and debris. Clean as required.

•

d. Check the evaporator core and the inside of the A/C housing for dirt and debris.

CAUTION • If using compressed air for cleaning, use at 30 psi. or less.

• Always use personal protective equipment to guard against flying debris.

IMPORTANT: It is recommended that during cold weather when the A/C system is not in use, that it be run for a period of 5 minutes every 2 weeks.

To maximize the efficiency of the air conditioning, the HEAT control knob (D) on the A/C-Heater control panel must be rotated to the "OFF" position. During times when cab heating is not required the HOT WATER SHUT OFF VALVE, on the heater hose from the engine, should also be closed to prevent hot water from seeping through the A/C unit, thereby reducing the cooling system effect.

When the AIR SOURCE control knob (C) on the A/C-Heater control panel is in the FRESH AIR position, outside air is drawn into the cab A/C-Heater unit through this filter and mixed with interior air from the cab. The filter is located in the rear of the cab roof and accessible from outside the cab. It should be checked every 125 hours. This is done by removing 6 bolts and removing the air inlet cover. Next remove 2 bolts and remove the filter retainer. This will allow access to the filter.

IMPORTANT These filters may require cleaning more frequently under extreme operating conditions.

NOTE: The parking brake must be in the ENGAGED position and the Direction / Speed Lever must be in the center locked position to start the engine.

Both doors are equipped with interlock switches to prevent the machine from being operated while the doors are open (pilot system shut off).

PILOT RESET This is a two position switch and is used to reactivate the pilot system after it has been deactivated by opening either of the cab doors, or by turning the ignition switch to the OFF position. This system prevents accidental or improper use of the controls from anywhere but the operator's seat.

To operate: Close both doors then press and release the pilot reset switch.

CAUTION: All functions on the machine can now be operated, either as intended or by accidentally touching them.

Once the safety interlock system has been activated, the safety of both the operator and all persons outside the cab becomes the responsibility of the operator.

With the engine running and both doors closed, press and then release this switch to REACTIVATE the pilot system.

These door interlock switches and the pilot reset switch are safety features and their function must not be defeated in any way.

4. CUTTER

6. HEAD

A. This is a three position switch labelled ON-OFF-JOG. ON Place throttle at HIGH IDLE before turning the cutter ON for normal operations. Cutter drum rotates at FULL speed in the FORWARD direction.

OFF Cutter drum is turned off.

JOG Used in conjunction with the JOG switch explained in 'B'.

NOTE: If the engine is turned off with the cutter switch in the ON position, the cutter will not start up again when the engine is restarted. The cutter switch must be turned OFF and then back ON for the cutter to start. The cutter will only operate when the gearshift lever is in LOW SPEED. B. JOG This is a three position switch labelled JOG FORWARD - OFF - JOG REVERSE.

A. PLATE This is a three position switch labelled LEFT-BOTH-RIGHT. This switch selects which of the 2 cutting head side plates are to be moved or shifted.

B. DIRECTION This is a three position switch labelled LEFT-BLANK-RIGHT. This switch selects the direction of movement of the selected side plate(s).

These switches are used in conjunction with each other to shift one or both of the cutting head side plate(s). The side plates need to be shifted during the replacement of the cutting drum or when shifting the position of the cutting head relative to the machine.

Whenever possible, cutting should be done with the cutting head positioned in the center of the machine. Offsetting the head to the right side is required when cutting close to the edge of the road or along a street curb.

Cutting with the head offset to the left side should not be done.

This switch is used in conjunction with the CUTTER switch for turning or indexing the cutter drum slowly for inspection and alignment during drum replacement.

Before using this switch, place the throttle at LOW IDLE. Place the CUTTER switch in the JOG position. Press and hold the JOG switch to determine the direction of drum rotation:FWD Cutter drum rotates at slow speed in FORWARD direction.

REV Cutter drum rotates at slow speed in REVERSE direction.

Release the JOG switch to stop the drum rotation.

Before using either of these switches, place the throttle in LOW IDLE.

5. CUTTER WATER This is a two position switch. Use to turn ON the water spray system for the cutter drum.

Water is used to cool the drum teeth during cutting. The water system does not work unless the Cutter Switch is in the ON position.

Press the PLATE switch to select which side plate is to be shifted.

Press and hold the DIRECTION switch to move the side plate in the desired direction.

Release the DIRECTION switch to stop side plate shift.

ENGINE MONITORING SYSTEM

7. ENGINE MONITORING SYSTEM (EMS) The EMS displays various engine parameters.

The Engine Control Module (ECM) positioned on the side of the diesel engine monitors and processes engine operating parameters and diagnostic information. This information is then transmitted to the EMS. The EMS has ten (two rows of five) indicators to display system related diagnostics. A digital LCD readout displays the engine/ auxiliary parameters monitored. If one of the monitored engine parameters exceeds a preset limit, the indicator light will come ON. See CAT engine manual for further information.

8. DISPLAY SCROLL This is a three position switch. Press and hold until the desired abbreviation is displayed on the LCD Digital Display on EMS monitor and then release to display the desired parameter.

The display can be scrolled either forward or in reverse sequence.

9. CUTTER CIRCUIT PRESSURE - GAUGE This gauge is visible outside the lower right corner of the front window.

When the cutter switch is put into the ON position, (engine at HIGH IDLE) the gauge will show the hydraulic pressure required to rotate the cutter drum. When not working this pressure should be approximately 1200 psi.

The machine should be operated to achieve a constant working pressure of 4000 psi.

Reposition the Direction / Speed Lever to change the machines slow working speed as required to maintain this pressure reading on the gauge at or near 4000 psi.

During cutting operations the operator will see the gauge values rise as the load on the drum is increased and fall as the load is decreased.

When the load exceeds 4800 psi the drum will stall.

WARNING When leaving the cab to check the cutter drum or other parts of the cutter head, observe all safety rules listed in this manual.

10. HORN This is a two position switch. Press and hold to sound vehicle warning horns.

11. FLASHER This is a 2 position switch. Use to turn ON the four-way safety flashers. The green light in the switch will flash when it is in the ON position.

The green light will also flash whenever either of the turn signals are ON.

This light is activated when the hydraulic reservoir temperature goes beyond 180°F. Check the following if this occurs: • Plugged oil cooler • Malfunction in a hydraulic circuit • High loads on the hydraulic system • Low hydraulic oil level Operation above 180°F will shorten hydraulic component life and is not recommended.

Do not continue to operate the machine.

12. FAN This is a three position switch labelled PURGE-AUTO-OVERRIDE. Under normal operation the cooling fan is operated in the AUTO position. When the coolers become plugged with debris, depress the switch to PURGE. This reverses the direction of the fan and purges the debris.

16. LOW HYDRAULIC OIL LEVEL – red light This light is activated when the level of oil in the hydraulic oil reservoir reaches an unacceptably low level.

The OVERRIDE position is for use with a fan control system (if equipped). This overrides the fan control system causing the fan to go to maximum speed.

13. AUXILIARY POWER

Do not operate the machine with a low hydraulic oil level. Check for sources of oil loss. Correct oil leak and then refill the reservoir to the proper level if this occurs.

17. DISPLAY WARNING – red light This light is activated by the ECM when any monitored engine parameter exceeds a preset limit. See CAT engine manual for further information.

A 12 volt outlet with 20 amp capacity for portable devices such as cell phones.

Position (1) will turn on the head lights (LOW BEAM), amber front parking lights and the red rear marker lights.

Position (2) turns the headlights onto HIGH BEAM.

WARNING 2.

Located at the right rear of the machine, the fuel tank has a capacity of 210 gallons (795 liters) and incorporates a dipstick and filler screen under the filler cap. The dipstick slides through a hole in the side of the filler screen.

DO NOT drop the dipstick into the filler tube or it will punch a hole in the bottom of the filler screen. The filler screen should be removed and cleaned every 125 hours (reach in and lift it out). Replace the screen if it is damaged.

Before leaving the machine unattended, always lower the cutting head to the ground, engage the parking brake and turn off battery disconnect.

HYDRAULIC OIL RESERVOIR Located at the left rear of the machine, the hydraulic reservoir has a capacity of 90 gallons (340 liters). A sight gauge, accessible through the rear door indicates the HIGH and LOW levels of the hydraulic oil.

Incorporated into this gauge is a low level sending unit which signals a “low hydraulic oil” light in the cab to come ON when the oil level is low. Always keep the hydraulic oil between the HIGH and LOW calibrations.

ENGINE ACCESS PANEL

CAUTION The SIDE REAR engine compartment access panels are NOT HINGED or permanently attached to the machine, but are held in place by the LOWER LATCH. Therefore they can fall during the process of removing them from the machine. Once the LATCH is opened the SIDE REAR is not fully supported and it is not safe to apply any weight or pressure to the panel, as it may fall out of the remaining supports. Use two hands to carefully remove the panel.

A low hydraulic oil level can result in severe damage to pumps.

Over filling causes the oil to discharge from the breather vent.

4. HYDRAULIC HAND FILL PUMP The hydraulic hand fill pump, located at the rear of the machine is used for adding oil to the hydraulic oil reservoir.

To add oil to the reservoir, clean suction tube and remove cap. Open oil fill shut-off valve, insert end of suction tube into supply drum and operate the pump. The oil is pumped directly into the hydraulic reservoir via a return filter. The pump should always be operated at a medium speed with steady motion. Pumping too fast may cause oil to bypass oil filter.

5. ENGINE AIR PRECLEANER The engine air precleaner cleans engine air before it reaches the air cleaner filter elements. It removes contaminants such as dust, powder, insects, rain and snow. This precleaner is self powered and self cleaning requiring virtually no maintenance. However, it should be checked periodically to make sure that foreign materials have not plugged the intake area or the exhaust port area.

6. AIR CLEANER

SAFETY ELEMENT (INSIDE PRIMARY ELEMENT)

The air cleaner on this machine uses two filter elements; a primary element and a safety element. Both are accessible through a hinged access cover in the top of the engine enclosure.

To ensure maximum engine protection, it is important that the elements be serviced correctly and at proper servicing intervals.

AIR FILTER ELEMENTS

SERVICING FILTER RESTRICTION INDICATOR

Engine exposure to dust during servicing is the largest single reason for engine damage due to dust.

Abrasive dust can easily enter the intake system once the air cleaner cover and protective filter element are removed for replacement. The safety element does reduce this risk but it should also be replaced at every third primary element change.

IMPORTANT STEPS TO FOLLOW WHEN CHANGING FILTER ELEMENTS

FILTER RESTRICTION INDICATOR A filter restriction indicator is mounted to the output side of the filter, this should show green when the engine is running at HIGH IDLE. Service is required if the indicator shows red.

1. Release the cover latch gently to reduce the amount of dust dislodged.

2. Avoid dislodging dust from filter element(s) by gently pulling the element off the outlet tube.

The most common and damaging servicing problems are:

3. Always clean the sealing surface of the outlet tube before inserting a new filter element.

OVER SERVICING

4. Always clean the inside of the outlet tube.

Filter elements increase in dust cleaning efficiency as dust builds up on the media.

Looks can be deceiving. A filter that looks dirty may actually more efficient than one that is clean. A filter with dust build up on the media reaches nearly 100% dust cleaning efficiency. Only when a filter is so clogged with dirt that air restriction goes beyond engine manufacturer's guidelines, should a filter be replaced.

5. Check your old filter sealing surfaces. This will help you detect foreign material on the sealing surface that is causing leakage.

NOTE: This does not apply to hydraulic oil or diesel engine oil filters.

7. Insert the new filter properly. Apply pressure to the outer rim of the filter not the flexible centre.

NOTE: Filter elements should never be cleaned and reused. Cleaning causes dust to bypass the filter and be deposited on the inner surface of the filter media. The dust is then drawn directly into the engine.

6. Inspect the new filter for damage.

8. Check connections and ducts for an air tight fit. Ensure that all clamps, bolts and connections are tight. Check rubber elbows for splits or wear points. Leaks in these locations send dust directly to the engine.

Shut off engine. Only remove filler cap when cool enough to touch with bare hands. Slowly loosen cap to first stop to relieve pressure before removing completely.

STARTING ENGINE: 1. Ensure that PRE START CHECKS have been performed and that the area is clear of personnel prior to starting the engine.

2. Sound horn to warn personnel of machine start-up.

NOTE: The engine will not turn over unless the parking brake is ON and the Direction / Speed Lever is locked in the center position.

3. Move throttle control to the LOW IDLE position, set parking brake ON, insure that the Direction / Speed lever is in the center locked position.

4. Turn ignition switch to the START position to crank engine.

5. When engine starts, release ignition key to RUN position.

NOTE: If the engine does not start after three attempts, check the fuel supply system.

Absence of blue or white exhaust smoke during cranking indicates no fuel is being delivered.

IMPORTANT • After engine has started, keep engine speed low until engine oil pressure registers on EMS. If it does not register within 10 seconds, stop engine and investigate cause.

• Allow a cold engine to warm up at LOW IDLE for at least five minutes before applying any load. Check all engine parameters on the EMS often during the warm up period.

CAUTION Do not start engine by shorting across starter terminals. Start engine only from operator's seat.

If engine stalls while operating the machine, turn the ignition key to the OFF position and repeat steps (1) through (5).

Controls and Operation (i) Turn cutter on.

SYSTEM TEST AND WARM-UP Before commencing cutting operations, follow steps (a) through (m) to accomplish the following:

(j) After completion of the warm-up and system testing, turn the cutter OFF, stop the drum and rest the cutting head on the ground.

• Warm up the hydraulic system.

(k) Set the parking brake ON.

• Test all systems for proper operation.

(l) Move the throttle control to the LOW IDLE position.

• Inspect for hydraulic oil leaks.

WARNING CAUTION

Ensure that the cutter drum has stopped rotating before leaving the cab.

If any system fails to respond to the controls, stop the warm-up procedure and call a mechanic, otherwise serious damage to pumps and other components could result.

(m) Leave the cab and visually check hose connections and cylinders for leaks. Check under the machine for oil leaks.

Assuming machine was parked on level ground at last shutdown:

WARNING

(a) Start engine. (b) Ensure EMS and warning lights are indicating normal operating conditions. (c) Check that all personnel are clear of the machine.

Never use your bare hand to check for fluid leaks.

(d) Raise throttle control to the MID position.

Fluid leaks under pressure may not be visible.

When searching for leaks, wear work gloves and use a wrench or piece of wood to move hydraulic hoses. Do not grab hold of hydraulic hoses. Wear safety goggles for eye protection.

(e) Slowly raise and lower boom, check for proper operation.

With the cutting head raised slightly off the ground: (f) Tilt the cutting head forward and back and check that it is operating correctly. (g) Steer the machine to the left and right. (h) When cold weather conditions exist, continue the process of warming up the hydraulic system by repeating steps (e) through (g) several times. As the hydraulic system warms up, engine speed can be increased gradually to the HIGH IDLE position.

STOPPING ENGINE IMPORTANT Stopping the engine immediately after it has been working under load can result in overheating and premature wear of the engine components. Follow the stopping procedure outlined below to allow the engine to cool.

1.

Park machine on level ground and rest cutting head on the ground.

2.

Reduce engine speed to LOW IDLE and let run for approximately three minutes to allow gradual dissipation of heat and also to reduce turbocharger speed. This will also prevent loss of coolant by after boil and possible hot spot damage to the engine.

3.

Do not race engine before shut-off.

4.

Engage parking brake.

5.

Stop engine by turning ignition switch to the OFF position.

WARNING

• Before leaving the machine, park it in a safe position on level ground.

• Engage parking brake, lower the cutting head to the ground.

• Never work behind, in front of, or below a machine that has been parked on a grade.

• Take additional precautions by placing the wheels against a rock, tree or other secure object.

Tigercat T750 Trencher CARE OF THE MACHINE

Controls and Operation alcohol or butyl cellosolve (2-Butoxy Ethanol), then wash and rinse thoroughly. DO NOT USE GASOLINE, Gasoline or oil will cause uncoated LEXAN to become opaque. MARGARD coated lexan will start to become opaque around edges and creep in.

1. Ensure that all fluid levels are always at the proper level. Use the preventative maintenance schedule in SECTION 3 of this manual .

2. Follow proper procedure for cleaning windows described in this section.

Removing Hairline Scratches Scratches and minor abrasions can be removed or minimized by using a mild automobile polish.

Three such products that tend to polish and fill scratches are Johnson Paste Wax, Novus Plastic Polish #1 & #2, and Mirror Glaze Plastic Polish. It is suggested that a test be made on a sample of LEXAN sheet with the product selected and that the polish manufacturer's instructions be followed.

3. Apply grease to all lubrication points at required intervals.

4. Do not apply load to a cold engine.

5. Close and secure all doors and access covers.

6. Do not allow debris to build up around radiator intake doors or anywhere else on the machine. Clean frequently.

Some Important Don’ts DO NOT use abrasive or highly alkaline cleaners on LEXAN sheet products.

7. Be sure that the cutting head is resting on the ground before servicing or parking the machine.

Never scrape LEXAN sheet products with squeegees, razor blades or other sharp instruments.

CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS FOR LEXAN WINDOWS (Three rear windows)

Benzene, gasoline, oil, acetone or carbon tetrachloride should never be used on LEXAN sheet products.

1. Rinse with lukewarm water.

2. Using a soft cloth or sponge, gently wash the sheet with a mild solution of soap or detergent and lukewarm water. DO NOT scrub or use brushes or squeegees.

DO NOT clean LEXAN sheet products in hot sun or at elevated temperatures.

3. Rinse with clean lukewarm water.

4. Dry thoroughly with a chamois or moist cellulose sponge to prevent water spotting.

GRAFFITI REMOVAL (A) Butyl Cellosolve (For removal of paints, marking pen inks, etc.) The use of masking tape, adhesive tape or lint removal tools works well for lifting off old weathered paints.

(B) To remove labels, stickers, etc., the use of kerosene, VM&P Naphtha, or petroleum spirits is generally effective. When the solvent will not penetrate sticker material, apply heat (hair dryer) to soften the adhesive and promote removal. GASOLINE SHOULD NOT BE USED. CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS FOR GLASS WINDOWS (Front and both doors) Normal window cleaning procedures are acceptable.

Tigercat T750 Trencher TOWING INSTRUCTIONS

Controls and Operation TRANSPORTING INSTRUCTIONS

A malfunction of the machine's equipment may make towing necessary.

The T750 Trencher may be transported with the wheels on or off. If the wheels are removed the machine must be blocked so that the center joint is one inch or more above the truck bed.

Towing is only recommended over short distances. It is always better to make repairs at the point where the machine is parked whenever possible.

The cutting head must be lowered to the truck bed.

The articulation lock bar must be installed.

1. To facilitate towing, the transmission must be placed in NEUTRAL, this will disconnect the wheels from the hydraulic motor.

IMPORTANT Do not use the center joint to chain the machine to the truck as this can damage the center joint.

The machine must be crossed chained (side to side) using the two axles.

2. Raise the cutting attachment off the ground and install the boom cylinder lift lock. Turn off the engine.

3. Install articulation lock bar.

Note: Chains must be installed to prevent forward, reverse and side to side movement.

2. Lower cutting head to the ground, apply parking brake, stop engine and remove ignition key.

4. To allow the machine to steer while towing and prevent damage to the steering cylinders, cross hydraulic hoses on one of the steering cylinders. This will allow trapped oil to flow freely between the two steering cylinders, providing ease of turning with some dampening effect.

WARNING To prevent movement of machine and possible injury, install articulation lock bar before performing any work in the center joint area. rear chassis and slide lock bar out of front chassis and into tube socket on rear chassis.

Line up holes at each end of lock bar with holes in chassis' and secure in place with both retaining pins. Install Lynch pins to secure retaining pins.

5. Remove articulation lock bar.

Ensure a vehicle of equal power and size is used for towing.

When going downhill, be sure to use a holdback vehicle as the machine is now without any effective braking.

4. After work is completed, slide lock bar into front chassis storage position and hold in place with retaining pin. Store second retaining pin in rear chassis tube socket. Install Lynch pins.

Tigercat T750 Trencher LIFT BOOM CYLINDER LOCK

Controls and Operation Completely raise lift boom and place lock over one of the two cylinder rods with the open side facing down and wide end against the bolt heads of the hydraulic cylinder keeper plate. Install 'T' handle retaining bolt through center hole.

Before performing work under the cutting head or lift boom, ensure that the attachment is firmly supported on level ground, on solid stands or, install lift boom cylinder lock.

Do not place yourself under the boom or cutting head, while doing this. Do not damage the piston rod when installing the boom lift lock. Turn off the engine, turn key back to RUN position, press the PILOT RESET to activate the pilot oil system and SLOWLY lower the boom until the boom lift lock is securely in place. To remove the boom lift lock, start the engine, press PILOT RESET and raise the boom completely. Without placing yourself under the boom or cutting head, remove the 'T' handle retainer bolt, remove the boom lift lock and store it in the battery compartment.

Lubrication and Maintenance 11. Lubricate the gasket on top of the new filter with clean engine oil and prefill the filter with clean fuel.

FILTERS - REMOVE AND REPLACE

12. Screw the new filter on to the filter head until the gasket makes contact with the seat and then hand tighten an additional 3/4 turn only.

IMPORTANT Failure to service and replace filters at the proper intervals specified in the manufacturer's manuals, could cause damage to the machine and result in the product warranty becoming NULL and VOID. Check Tigercat parts catalog for replacement filters.

13. Turn the fuel shut-off valve ON, start the engine and check for leaks.

FUEL TANK STRAINER

FUEL FILTER/WATER SEPARATOR This is a combination unit, with a replaceable fuel filter and a removable water sediment bowl on the bottom of the unit. The water sediment bowl is only replaced if it becomes damaged or non-functional.

For service and replacement intervals see SERVICE AND LUBRICATION CHART in THIS SECTION. Changing the filter: 1. Park machine on level ground, install articulation lock pin, lower cutting head to ground, stop engine, pull parking brake ON and block wheels.

4. Before removing the strainer, clean any debris from the bottom of the tank and wipe it clean.

5. Remove the fuel strainer using the hex on the end of strainer. Carefully clean the strainer (it may be damaged by rough handling).

4. Wearing face protection (in case of a fuel squirt) turn OFF the fuel shut-off valve on the side of the fuel tank and unscrew the old filter.

6. Check for a buildup of foreign materials where the strainer threads on to the pipe and elbow.

5. Remove and discard the small 1” I.D. gasket from the threaded extension on the filter head.

6. Remove the water sediment bowl from the bottom of the old filter. Discard this gasket also. Dispose of old filter and any fuel properly.

9. Lubricate gasket for bottom of filter and water sediment bowl with clean engine oil and carefully hand tighten the water sediment bowl onto the new filter. It is plastic and will break if over tightened. Close the water drain valve.

NOTE: This should only be required if excessive quantities of foreign material has built up inside the tank.

3. Remove the round fuel tank cleanout cover plate and “O” ring from the access hole.

3. Place rags below to catch the spillage of fuel.

8. Check the seating area for the gaskets on the filter head and the water sediment bowl and wipe clean.

Changing or cleaning the strainer:

This is a stainless steel fuel strainer, screwed on to the inlet pipe of the engine fuel feed line inside at the bottom of the fuel tank.

7. Reinstall the strainer using the hex on end.

8. Reinstall fuel tank cover plate with “O” ring.

9. Refuel and check for leaks. Start the engine and check for leaks again.

IMPORTANT Filters that are an integral part of the engine (fuel and lubricating oil) should be serviced and replaced according to the engine manufacturer's operation and maintenance manual.

10. Lubricate the new 1” I.D. gasket with clean engine oil and install onto the threaded extension on the filter head.

HYDROSTATIC CHARGE PUMP PRESSURE FILTER These single full flow filters, are mounted in the output side of the hydrostatic charge pumps for the Fan, Propel and Cutter drive systems.

For service and replacement intervals see SERVICE AND LUBRICATION CHART in THIS SECTION. Changing the filter: 1. Park machine on level ground, install articulation lock bar, lower cutting head to ground, stop engine, pull parking brake ON and block wheels.

2. Wipe clean the area around the filter and head.

3. Place rags below to catch the spillage of oil.

4. Wearing face protection (in case of an oil squirt), unscrew the old filter. Dispose of old filter and any oil properly.

5. Check the seating area for the gasket on the filter head and wipe it clean.

6. The new filter has an attached gasket. Prefill the new filter with clean hydraulic oil and apply hydraulic oil to the gasket surface.

7. Screw on the new filter until the gasket makes contact with the seat in the filter head.

8. Hand tighten filter an additional 1/2 turn only.

9. Start the engine and check for leaks.

IMPORTANT Contaminated hydraulic fluid can lead to premature failure of hydraulic components and costly repairs. Filters must be replaced at the recommended time intervals, Refer to SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE in THIS SECTION. Use of hydraulic oil filters other than the Tigercat brand could lead to severe wear and rapid failure of hydraulic system components.

HYDRAULIC OIL RETURN FILTERS There are four identical full return flow, spin-on filter elements mounted on dual filter heads with built-in differential pressure bypass valves. Park machine on level ground, install articulation lock pin, lower cutting head to ground, stop engine, pull parking brake ON and block wheels.

2. Wipe clean the area around the filter and head.

4. Wearing face protection (in case of an oil squirt), unscrew the old filter. Dispose of old filter and any oil properly.

5. Check the seating area for the gasket on the filter head and wipe it clean.

6. The Tigercat spin-on filter element is supplied with two gaskets enclosed. The T750 Trencher uses the round section 'O' ring gasket for all four return filters. The square section gasket should be discarded.
