This workshop and maintenance manual contains all of the information required to assist the trained service technicians with all work, repairs and maintenance on the frame. Changes may be made at short notice and at any time, and are communicated via service information documents.

A competent person is defined as a service technician or a person who fulfils the following requirements: A completed vocational qualification that demonstrably proves their professional expertise. This proof is to consist of a vocational qualification or a similar document Professional experience indicating that the competent person has gained practical experience with industrial trucks over a proven period during their career. During this time, this person has become familiar with a wide range of symptoms that require checks to be carried out, such as based on the results of a hazard assessment or a daily inspection Recent professional involvement in the field of the industrial truck test in question and an appropriate further qualification are essential.

The competent person must have experience of carrying out the test in question or of carrying out similar tests. Moreover, this person must be aware of the latest technological developments regarding the industrial truck being tested and the risks being assessed

Changes to the STILL portal frame that will adversely affect stability, load capacity and safety systems, among other things, must not be made without the manufacturer's approval.

The STILL portal frame may only be converted with the written approval of the manufacturer.

Approval from the relevant authority must be obtained where applicable.

The original parts and accessories are designed specifically for the STILL portal frame. We

specifically draw your attention to the fact that parts and accessories not supplied by the manufacturer have also not been tested or approved by the manufacturer.

Installation and/or use of non-genuine parts may therefore adversely affect the design features of the STILL portal frame and thus impair active and/or passive driving safety.

Before installing such parts, we recommend that approval is obtained from the manufacturer. The manufacturer accepts no liability for any damage caused by the use of non-original parts and non-approved accessories.

Maintenance work must be carried out in accordance with the following maintenance intervals. The intervals are defined for standard use.

Shorter maintenance intervals can be defined in consultation with the operating company depending on the application conditions of the STILL portal frame.

The following factors may necessitate shorter maintenance intervals: Dirty, poor-quality roadways Dusty or salty air High levels of air humidity Extremely high or low ambient temperatures, or extreme changes in temperature Multi-shift operation with a long operating time Specific national regulations for the portal frame or individual components For maintenance tasks, only original spare parts and consumables that have been prescribed in the overview of consumables may be used.

– Check the springs in the interlock for breaks by performing a visual inspection and a tensile test.

– Replace any broken springs.

Check that screws and nuts are all present and are securely fitted.

– Using the appropriate tool, check all of the screw connections on the frame to ensure that they are securely seated. If necessary, tighten the screw connections to the prescribed tightening torque.

– Using a crane, lift the STILL portal frame high enough for all four wheels to be freely suspended in the air. To do so, attach crane loops to the lifting points provided (1) and then lift the frame slowly and carefully using a crane.

– Then remove all four wheel covers from the frame (2).

– Check ease of movement by turning the wheels (1) by hand.

– Lubricate the axle bearings of all four wheels at the lubricating nipple (2). Press the grease gun once, or until the grease emerges slightly between the holding fixture and the axle.

– Attach the STILL portal frame to the front or rear lifting point for the crane loop (1) and then use a crane to lift the frame until the front or rear axle is lifted.

– Then remove the two wheel covers on the raised axle (2).

– Open the actuator of the chain and remove the chain.

– Feed the steering chain around the central pinion gear of the axle and the respective pinion gear of the wheel. Then assemble the actuator (3) and screw it into place.

– Refit the two wheel covers of the axle (2).

– Finally, lower the frame to the ground and then perform a functional test.

– Lift the frame so that the wheel to be changed rotates freely.

– Remove the external locking ring (1) of the wheel and pull out the retaining bolt (2) of the wheel.



– Hold the wheel within the wheel bracket and guide the retaining bolt (2) through the wheel bracket.

– Secure the locking ring (1) on the retaining bolt.

– Check the wheels; see the chapter entitled "Checking the wheels for wear and ease of movement".

– Carefully lower the frame back into the load pick-up position.

– Perform a functional test.
