SUBJECT:

Tractor cover fasteners

DESCRIPTION:

Current tractor covers are fastened using thumbscrews. These are subject to loss because they aren t retained to the cover.

REMEDY:

Add ¼ turn fasteners to the cover and modify the tractor to accept the ¼ turn receptacle.

Order Kit (P/N 850-900-061), reference the drawing on page two and follow the procedures outlined below.

1. Drill out threaded holes to size shown.

PROCEDURES: (Ref. Drawing on page 2)

2. Cut clearance in top plate as shown.

3. Drill holes to attach receptacles as shown. NOTE: If truck is equipped with a padded floor mat, remove it to prevent damage.

4. Attach receptacles on backside of wrappers with 1/8 pop rivets and spaced back with 1/8 washers.

5. Place ejector spring over stud with small end at head of stud.

6. Place cupped washer on stud with cupped side toward head of stud.

7. Insert stud into existing cover attaching holes.

8. Put retainer over button of stud and force over shoulder on stud.

SUBJECT:

Improvements to the motor controller

DESCRIPTION:

The new motor controller (P/N 1187-093) offers the following design enhancement: Improved mounting of the printed circuit boards to the Heatsink. The mounting of the two printed circuit boards (internal to the controller) to the Heatsink is done using mechanical stand-offs and fasteners, instead of using the terminals of the MOSFETs. The new motor controller will provide increased reliability in applications where the trucks experience high vibration levels during travel.

RESOLUTION:

New motor controller (P/N 1187-093) replaces the old controller (P/N 1187-085) for: -

Pallet trucks Models 111, 112, 113 and 114 with serial numbers between 20,000 and 24,999

Model 019 with serial number 21,278 and up.

SUBJECT:

Failure of coil suppressor for the lowering solenoid

DESCRIPTION:

The resistor used in the coil suppressor (P/N 850-136-425/002) for the lowering solenoid may fail open due to an incorrect resistor type installed by the vendor.

This may cause shutdown of the traction controller when the forks are lowered during travel. Resetting the travel controls to neutral will clear the fault and the truck can resume normal operation.

RESOLUTION:

Replace suppressor assembly (P/N 850-136-425/002) with a new assembly of the same part number.

PROCEDURE:

1. Turn the Key Switch to the OFF position, disconnect the battery from the truck and remove the cover.

2. Replace the lowering solenoid suppressor assembly with a new one (P/N 850-136-425/002).

3. Install the cover and connect the battery.

4. Turn the Key Switch to the ON position.

5. Test for proper operation of the truck.

SUBJECT:

Lift ram pivot pins too short.

DESCRIPTION:

The Lift Ram Pivot Pins can be too short, which allows the retainer rings to not seat properly. If this condition occurs, the Lift Ram Pivot Pin can walk out of the lift ram clevis.

RESOLUTION:

If you have a situation where the pins are walking out, they should be replaced with pin (P/N 850-138-801). The new pin measures 3.73 overall length.

SUBJECT:

Pallet Entry Rollers

DESCRIPTION:

Pallet entry rollers may fracture or deform when struck by a hard object.

REMEDY:

On 6K trucks, new pallet entry sliders have been developed to replace the rollers.

On 8K trucks, the pallet entry rollers have been removed and the fork bottom profile revised to facilitate easy pallet entry and exit. (See drawing on Page 5 for new profile.)

PROCEDURES:

For 6K trucks with a fork length between 36 and 60 Remove old pallet entry rollers and brackets and replace with new pallet entry sliders. The kit number for the sliders, brackets and associated hardware is (P/N 850-900-068).

NOTE: 2 kits are required to retrofit one truck or 1 kit per fork.

For 6K trucks with a fork length between 84 and 103 Remove old pallet entry rollers and brackets, weld the mounting holes closed and grind flush, drill and tap new mounting holes in forks and replace with new pallet entry sliders.

The kit number for the sliders, brackets and associated hardware is (P/N 850-900-089).

NOTE: 2 kits are required to retrofit one truck or 1 kit per fork.

Increased operating arc on handle

DESCRIPTION:

When a new handle is installed on an older truck, the handle may not lower sufficiently to fully apply the brakes.

RESOLUTION:

On trucks prior to S/N 112-98-25000, when a new handle is required, handle kit (P/N 850-900-086) must be installed. On trucks S/N 112-98-25000 and up, handle assembly (P/N 850-138-108/001) is required.

SUBJECT:

Autocoast cannister assembly

DESCRIPTION:

Some instances of loosening of the coast actuator plunger (P/N 850-137-720) have been reported on the Autocoast Actuator assembly (P/N 850-137-755).

RESOLUTION:

The grade of thread-locking compound has been revised to better secure the assembly.

PROCEDURES:

The thread-locking compound applied to the coast actuator plunger thread has been revised from (P/N 990-403) (purple color) to (P/N 990-536) (blue color). Remove the plunger and wire brush the threads on the contactor armature pin and the plunger. Apply primer (P/N 990-533), then thread locking compound (P/N 990-536) and reassemble the plunger to the contactor.

Apply thread-locking compound to the threads of the solenoid armature stud and assemble to coast actuator plunger.

NOTE: Overtorquing will cause stud to separate from solenoid armature.
