TO THE OWNER

Read this manual before starting or operating the machine. Call your Authorized NEW HOLLAND dealer should you need any additional information.

You Authorized NEW HOLLAND Dealer will provide service by fully trained servicemen who will use the best methods in carrying out maintenance and repair work on your machine, using genuine NEW HOLLAND approved parts.

Use this manual as a guide. Your Motorgrader will be a realiable working tool for as long as its kept under good operating condtions and subject to proper maintenance.

DO NOT operate or allow someone else to opere or service this machine until they have read and understood all safety, maintenance and operating instructions contained in this manual. Only trained operators with proven skills to operate and service the machine properly should operate this equipment.

This motorgrader with standard equipment and attachments is for use in earthmoving operations such as landfilling and and material handling.

DO NOT use this machine for any other application other than as described in this manual. If you want to use the motorgrader in an application requiring special attachments or equipment, see your Authorized NEW HOLLAND Dealer regarding changes, implementations or modifications required to meet the various safety regulations and standards required in each country. Modifications carried out without prior authoirization may result in serious or fatal accident. Anyone carrying out such modifications will be held liable for damages.

This Operator`s Manual must be kept in the appropriate compartment in the machine´s cab as shown in the following page.

Ensure the manual is complete and in good condition. See your Dealer for any additonal copies of the manual, supplementary information or service to the machine. Your Authorized NEW HOLLAND dealer has genuine NEW HOLLAND approved parts and fully trained serviceman to perform repair and maintenance operations using the best methods available.

RIGHT HAND, LEFT HAND, FRONT AND REAR OF THE MACHINE The terms "right hand" or "left hand" as used in this manual stand for the right or left sides of the machine as viewed by the operator from his seating position facing machine forward direction of travel. The terms "front" and "rear" of the machine are as viewed by the operator from the same position.

Read and follow all safety instructions containing the words WARNING and DANGER DANGER.

STUDY THE OPERATOR'S AND MAINTENANCE MANUAL THOROUGHLY PRIOR TO STARTING AND OPERATING THE MACHINE, WHEN CARRYING OUT ANY MAINTENANCE OR SERVICE WORK AND REFUELING.

The safety symbols on the machine have been color coded in yellow with black borders and text to give a WARNING; and red with white borders and text for locations representing DANGER.

SAFETY RULES Read and follow all safety rules and decals on the machine prior to any servicing of the machine.

STARTING

Do not carry rings, wrist watches, jewelry, loose clothing such as ties, torn clothes, neck scarfs, unbottoned or zippered shirts or sweaters that may get caught in rotating parts. Use of helmets, slip proof shoes, safety gloves, ear protection, safety goggles, etc., is recommended manly in Rops canopy machine where the noise level is higher at the operator's post. Remember that different task require different individual protection equipment. If you have doubts consult a safety specialist.

Do not start or drive a damaged machine. Before using the machine ensure that any hazardous safety situation has been properly corrected.

Keep all hand rails, ladders and steps clean and free from any foreign objects, oil, grease or mud to keep the chance of slipping or stumbling to a minimum.

Do not jump on or off the machine.

Test brakes, steering and implement controls prior to starting the machine. Advise service people of any operating malfunction.

Check, adjust or lock seat in position to provide maximum operating comfort.

Prior to driving the machine or engaging any implements or attachments, ensure no one is within the machine's radius of operation. Before climbing onto the machine, take an inspection walk around the machine.

Observe all signage provided by flags, posters or signs.

Due to the presence of flammable fluids in the machine, do not check or fill the fuel tank and batteries adjacent to excessive heat, open flame or sparks.

OPERATION

Always keep both hands and one foot or both feet and one hand on the ladders and grab handles. Do not use controls or hoses as a handhold: these parts are movable and do not provide a steady support; also, inadvertent movement of a control may cause inadvertent movement of the machine or the implement.

Do not operate the unit or use any implements from any position other than the seated operating position.

Under all circumstances, always keep your head, body, members, hands and feet in the driving position to keep the risk of being exposed to external hazards to a minimum.

Never operate the machine in closed spaces, unless there is an efficient system of aspiration of the exhaust gases.

Do not use the machine to transport objects, unless an appropriate arrangement for this purpose is provided.

Do not transport people on the machine, unless an appropriate arrangement has been developed specifically for this purpose.

Try to know and become familiar with all machine outlet alternatives, so you can use them in an emergency.

Do not try to get on or off the machine while it is moving.

During operation, always look in the direction of machine travel. Keep alert to the presence of people, particularly children. If anyone comes within the machine´s operating range, stop machine immediately.

Always keep a safe distance from other machines or obstacles, in order to provide minimum visibility at all times.

Do not leave the machine until all movement has stopped.

SAFETY RULES STOPPING Never abandon the machine with the engine running.

Before leaving the operating area and after ensuring no persons are around the machine, slowly lower the control arms to the ground. Lock all controls and switch off the master switch.

Park the machine in an area where other machines are not operating and where there is no movement of other vehicles. Choose a firm, flat surface. If that is not possible, park the machine across the downgrade and check for any risk of sliding. Where stopping is not possible away from the traffic route, use of safety signs (flags, torches and other signage indicating danger) is recommended. These signs serve as warning to other drivers approaching the area.

Never lower the implements from a position other than the operator’s position.

MAINTENANCE

GENERAL

Prior to working on or servicing the machine: 1.

Read carefully all safety rules in this Manual;

2.

Read and follow all safety decals and instructions attached to the machine.

Do not carry out any servicing of the machine with people seated on the operator’s seat other an experienced and licensed operator who is assisting in the operation.

If an implement must be operated during servicing or while working on the machine, ensure the operation is carried out from the seat operator’s position only.

Keep the operator’s immediate vicinity free from any loose objects at all times. Always lock the operating arms, or those machines parts that will be raised, prior to carrying out any work under these parts while they are in the raised position.

Do not allow any persons to circulate near or under the raised implement in unlocked condition. Avoid as possible standing under an attachment in the raised position, even it is locked.

Never carry out any servicing of the machine with the engine running, other than as recommended.

Where the servicing operation contemplates access to components that cannot be reached from the ground, use a ladder or raised catwalk. If neither of these is available, use any means of access available on the machine. All servicing operations shall be carried with maximum care and caution.

Do not check or refuel the fuel tank and batteries while smoking or near a naked flame or sparks as the fluid and fluid vapors are highly flammable.

Do not allow non-authorized people to operate or carry out any servicing of the machine. Do not carry out any servicing without previous consent. Follow procedures provided for maintenance and servicing in this Manual.

If the machine must be towed, use only tiedowns provided. Engage carefully, ensuring prior to towing that required pins and locks are firmly attached in place.

Keep all hand rails, ladders and steps clean and free from any foreign objects or oil spots, grease or mud to keep the chance of slipping or stumbling to a minimum.

When transporting a damaged machine, utilize as possible a flat, low deck trailer. If the machine must be towed, use local traffic signs and signaling. To load and unload the machine, choose a flat area that offers good ground support for the truck wheels.

Do not jump on or off the machine.

Always keep both hands and one foot or both feet and one hand on the ladders and grab handles.

Use loading ramps of sufficient height and slope.

Quickly attach machine to loading deck of the truck and block the tracks or wheels with wedged chocks.

SAFETY RULES If there is need to lift or transport heavy parts, use a hoist or similar equipment of proper capacity. Use lifting supports, is provided. Ensure there are no other persons in the vicinity.

Never use gasoline, diesel fuel or other flammable fluids such as detergents. Use authorized commercial, non-flammable, non-toxic solvents.

When using compressed air to clean parts, use sideflapped safety glasses. Keep air pressure to 2 kg/cm² maximum.

Never operate the machine in closed spaces, unless there is an efficient system of aspiration of the exhaust gases.

Do not smoke, light flames or cause sparks when refueling or using readily flammable products.

Do not use naked flames as a lighting means when servicing or looking for leaks.

When carrying out any servicing of the braking system, which will likely make them temporarily inoperative, park machine on level ground and chock all wheels with proper chocks.

When working under the machine or beneath raised attachments, move with caution. Wear proper safety equipment such as: safety helmet, safety goggles, anti-slip shoes and ear mufflers.

Check that all tools are in good state of repair.

When carrying oiut any checks where the engine must be kept running, use the help of an operator who must be in the operator´s seat and keep him at all times within your area of visibility.

Never carry out any for which you have not been authorized. Follow procedures and recommendations in the technical service publications.

In the event of carrying out any work outside the workshop, park machine on level ground and chock all wheels. Do not rely on flattened or doubled cables or chains. Never use them for lifting or towing. Use only proper safety gloves to handle them.

The area where service operations are carried out must be kept clean and dry at all times. Immediately eliminate any impounded water or oi spills on the floor.

Do not pile up rags or cloth soaked up in oil, grease or flammable fluid. These are serious fire hazards. All dispose of them into closed metal containers.

Prior to operating the machine or engaging any implements or attachments, check, adjust and lock the operator´s seat in position. Ensure no one is within the machine´s area of operation.

Rust inhibitors usually are volatile, flammable products. These must always be used in properly ventilated environments. Containers must be kept in fresh, dry, ventilated places not accessible to nonauthorized people.

Do not carry in your pockets objects that can drop into machine slots or openings.

Clutches, brakes and other auxiliary equipment (distributor, cylinders, etc.) must be properly adjusted according to procedures published in the technical literature. Do not adjust with the engine running.

When welding, use of safety welder's glasses, safety helmet, leather apron, gloves and safety shoes is mandatory. Safety glasses must be used as well by persons in the adjacent area, even though not participating in the work.

Never stare into the weld beam without proper eye protection.

Prior to performing any welding work on fuel tanks or adjacent to fuel tanks, drain all the contents from the tank and flush it properly to remove all residue and fumes that may have remained inside the tank.

Try to become thoroughly familiar with the capacity and operation of hydraulic jacks or other lifting devices..

Remember that the attaching point for lifting the machine must be appropriate to the load to be lifted and that the machine area of support on the ground must be stable.

Any loads lifted with a hydraulic jack or loads lifted with other lifting means are hazardous. Prior to lifting, transfer the weight from the hydraulic jacks to other more secure means (stands, etc.).

Wire ropes fray out with use. When handling wire ropes, wear proper protection (safety goggles, leather rasp safety gloves, etc.).

SAFETY RULES Never use make-shift hydraulic jacks to adjust track tensions. Follow established procedures in the Repair Manual.

check for proper ventilation to prevent possible inadvertent explosion caused by fumes buildup from the charging operation.

Handle all parts with extreme care. Keep your hands and fingers out of slots, gears and such.

HYDRAULIC SYSTEM

STARTING Do not run engine in closed spaces without proper ventilation systems for the exhaust gases.

Never expose your head, body, feet, hands and fingers close to rotating fans or belts.

ENGINE Turn radiator cap slowly to relieve system pressure, prior to removing the cap. If any coolant is needed, add only to a cold or slow running engine.

Do not refuel machine with the engine running, particularly if it is too hot, to prevent fire.

Never attempt to check or adjust belt tensions with the engine running.

Avoid running the engine with air intakes open without the protective guards.

If for any technical reasons, this is not possible, fit proper protections over these openings prior to servicing or operating.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM If you have to jump start, remember cable ends must be connected as follows: (+) to (+) and (-) to (-). Avoid short-circuits. Follow carefully the instructions in this Manual. Prior to any servicing of the electrical system, ensure the battery master switch is disconnected.

The fumes released by the battery are highly flammable. While recharging, leave batteris uncovered for better ventilation. Never check battery charge using by short-circuiting the battery terminals. Do not smoke hear batteries to prevent explosions.

Prior to carrying out any servicing, check for fuel or battery electrolyte leaks. Eliminate these leaks prior to proceeding with the work.

Do not charge batteries in closed spaces:

Fluid gushing from a hole can be invisible to the eye but have sufficient force to penetrate the skin causing serious injuries. Under these circumstances, if you have to locate leaks, use a piece of cardboard or wood.

Never use your bare hands: if the fluid penetrates your skin, see a doctor immediately. Lack of ready medical attention may lead to serious complications and skin disease.

Relieve internal system pressure prior to removing any caps, plugs, etc. (See applicable instructions).

When checking system pressures, use appropriate measuring instruments.

IMPLEMENTS Keep your head, body, feet and hands away from the raised blade and rear attachments. Use supports provided as a safety measure, prior to proceeding to servicing and repair operations. Use proper safety elements.

If you must operate an attachment using the hydraulic machine control system, remember this operation must be carried out only from the operator’s seat position. The operator is responsible for any nonauthorized persons allowed into the cab.

Ensure no other persons are within the machine’s radius of operation.

Give warnings with the horn or using your own voice.

Lift the attachment slowly.

Do not use the machine for transporting loose objects, unless suitable means are provided for this purpose.

When leaving the operator’s cab, lower the attachment to the ground.

Prior to carrying out any servicing or repair operation with raised attachments, these must be supported on stable supports.

It is recommended that you carry a FIRST AID kit on the machine.

During machine delivery, it is the NEW HOLLAND dealer´s responsibility to provide customers with the main machine operating and maintenance instructions. The instructions are summarized as follows: -

Safety rules; Water, fuel and oil filling control; Removal of fuel system air (bleeding); Fuel tank drain; Engine run-in; Engine and machine starting and stopping; Tire pressure checks; Lubrication and lubricants; Air cleaner and fuel, lubricating oil and hydraulic filter service; Cooling system servcice; Hydraulic installation service; Machine controls operation

PRELIMINARY INSTRUCTIONS 1 - Fill the tank with specified fuel only. Take care to avoid intress of dirt or other improper substances when refueling.

IMPOR TANT IMPORT ANT: Do not use your hands to look for pressurized oil leaks. Fluid escaping under pressure may penetrate the skin and to cause serious injuries.

CAUTION Turn off any vapors or flames before checking fuel level or refuelling.

2 - Check following fluid levels: a) Engine crankcase b) Engine cooling system c) Torque converter and transmission system d) Batteries e) Hydraulic system f) System of the transmission of the tandem g) Braking system reservoirs 3 - Lubricate all grease points.

4 - Check tire pressures.

IMPOR TANT IMPORT ANT:: Remove lock bolt from front wheel angle arm and the articulated lock pin before operating the machine.

Before unloading the motorgrader from the trailer truck, remove the wheel angle lock bolt and place the bolt in the block located on the axle. Also remove machine articulation lock pin.

Whenever the motorgrader is transported on a trailer, install the lock bolt with a washer, after loading. Use of the motorgrader with the lock bolt installed will cause very restricted handling. Also install machine articulation lock pin.

NOTE: The arm lock bolt can be used to maintain the front wheels in the vertical position in case of damage to the wheel angle hydraulic hose.

CAUTION Do not inflate tires with flammable gases or with air from systems using alcohol injectors. This may result in explosions and personal injuries.

5 - The machine´s cooling system is factory filled with a 50% mixture of AGRIFLU which is a glycol based compound. Additionally there is an antifreeze fluid for protection down to -34oC (-30oF). You will not have to drain this solution prior to operating the machine.

Front wheel angle arm lock bolt IMPOR TANT IMPORT ANT:: Do not start the machine in closed environments without proper ventilation to remove toxic exhaust gases.

Give a warning to all people working close to the machine before starting the engine.

Honk the horn before starting or operating the machine.

Never abandon the machine while the engine is running.

7 - Start the engine. Check all instruments and pressure gauges for the suitable pressures. Operate the controls as indicated in the operating instructions.

Switch off the engine and check hoses, pipes and gaskets to prevent possible oil leaks.

The articulation lock bolt should be installed only during transport of the motorgrader.

ADTIONAL PREMINARY INSTRUCTIONS PRECAUTIONARY INSTRUCTIONS FOR NEUTRAL STARTING AND REVERSING. IMPOR TANT IMPORT ANT:: Check as follows before operating the machine.

For grading work or moderate cutting, start in 4th gear and gradually shift up if conditions permit.

For steep grading work or overload, shift down and proceed.

STARTING THE MACHINE

CHECK NEUTRAL START CIRCUIT Ensure the area around the machine is free.

The parking brake must be fully disengaged Press the “INCHING” pedal all the way down Move transmission control lever to forward position.

Turn starter key to “START”.

The gears and diagnosis display will show COD 041.

Move control lever to neutral, then back on to forward, COD 044 will be shown.

Listen: The starter motor should not crank.

Move the gear selector levar to the gear position desired, which will be shown on the display, then drive the machine. The “INCHING” pedal may be used similarly to a mechanical clutch.

Most operators will perceive in this a very natural operation.

INCHING PEDAL

CONDITIONS FOR STARTING.

Use when starting or stopping the machine.

Use in finish work requiring a “sliding clutch” or very low speeds.

1) With the gear selector lever in forward and parking brake engaged, turn the switch key to “START”, to start the engine.

3) With the gear selector lever in neutral and parking brake engaged, turn the switch key to “START”, to start the engine.

CHECK THE REVERSING ALARM Ensure the area around the machine is free.

Press the “INCHING” control pedal all the way down.

Move transmission control lever to 1st gear reverse.

Check that the reversing alarm sounds.

STOPPING AND STARTING THE MACHINE WITH THE DISPLAY SHOWING A GEAR ABOVE 4th GEAR Stop using the “INCHING” pedal. The machine will always select 4th gear to start.

The transmission must be in “neutral” before starting the engine Do not either abruptly depress or release the “INCHING” pedal to force machine movement.

SHIFTING DOWN While the transmission has a a gearshifting protection system, check the tachometer and the speedometer and do not allow engine revs to go below 1700 rpm.

Shift down one gear at a time.

Change gears without using the “INCHING” pedal.

SHIFTING UP Shift up normally as speed, grading and traction conditions allow.

Change gears without using the “INCHING” pedal.

CHANGING GEARS WHILE GOING DOWN STEEP SLOPES During transport, while going down short, steep slopes, the engine can be cranked from the ground by the tires. To keep speeds high, it would be necessary to shift up to protect the engine while braking. Normally, the safe, recommended procedure is to go down slowly using a low gear in combination with the brakes, particularly for long distances.

ADTIONAL PREMINARY INSTRUCTIONS CHANGING GEARS, FORWARD TO REVERSE, REVERSE TO FOWARD The operator may do these gear changes as required by working conditions.

The transmission will automatically select the most appropriate gear in the opposite direction, this is done with mechanical shock protection.

PARKING BRAKE The transmission will not engage any gear with the parking brake engaged.

RUN-IN PERIODS 1- Operate the unit at a moderate load during the first 50 hours. Efficient operation is with engine coolant temperature in the GREEN zone of the gauge. Engine operation at a coolant temperature lower than this limit will cause incomplete combustion, higher fuel consumption, loss of power and dirt buildup inside the engine.

CAUTION Never lubricate, repair or adjust the machine with the engine running, thereby reducing the possibility of an accident.

2 - Inspect the entire machine before the first 10 operating hours. Tighten all loose bolts and other controls. Also check the hydraulic and electrical systems. After the first 50 hours of operation with a new machine, o after major repairs, carry out the following procedures:

Replace transmission oil filter element.

CAUTION Pressurized fluid. Turn cap slowly to relieve pressure, prior to removing the cap. b- Replace hydraulic oil filter elemento. c- Check ROPS attachment bolts.

IMPOR TANT IMPORT ANT:: Protection provided by the ROPS type frame may suffer if modified or damaged. d- Check tandem wheel nuts. e- Check wheel attaching nuts.

4 – BLADE TILT CONTROL LEVER

Set of attachment control levers (left hand).

Use this lever to tilt the blade forward or backward.

Move the lever forward (increase) or pull it to the rear (decrease) for the approach angle desired. After reaching desired blade angle, release the lever and it will return to neutral.

5 - CIRCLE ROTATION CONTROL LEVER Use this lever to turn the circle clockwise or conunterclockwise.

Move the lever forward to turn the circle anticlockwise or to the rear to turn the circle clockwise.

After the desired position is reached, release the lever and it will return to neutral.

1 – LEFT HAND LIFT CYLINDER CONTROL LEVER This lever is used to lower or raise the left end of the blade. Move lever forward to lower or to the rear to raise. After the desired height is reached, release the lever and it will return to neutral.

The machine´s efficiency control device will indicate any malfunctions in the machine groups.

Indications are by LEDS (light emitting diode).

The sensors transmitting the information are ON/OFF type and are connectred through connectors at the rear of the monitor.

The electronic monitor allows the operator improved monitoring of all functional controls in his operating environment.

OPERATING DESCRIPTION For the operation of this control check panel, some situations are described below:

This lever allows the operator to switch on the headlights by turning the end of the handle forward, where the first position is for the marker lights (position lights); the second position is for low beam.

Pressing the lever down will switch on high beam, thereby switching off low beam. With the lever in normal position, pull the lever up to flash high beam.

Move the lever forward or to the rear to indicate direction of machine travel.

1) - Engine switched off / ignition switch in the IGN position / electrical system activated.

All LEDS will flash simultaneously for a few seconds to check that they are operating properly for Battery charge indicator E, transmission oil pressure F, engine oil pressure G, brake pressure (if the accumulators are discharged), H, parking brake D (if the parking brake is engaged) until the engine is started.

OPERATOR´S COMPARTMENT With the engine running and the ignition switch in the ON position, the electronic panel will be with all lamps off, except when the parking brake is engaged.

In this case the parking brake indicator lamp will be on.

Whenever you turn the ignition switch off and back on, the electronic panel will run a test.

There is a buzzer that will eventually sound with the engine running or during operation. This does not mean the machine has a problem or a failure in the alarm system. The purpose of this is to alert the operator to eventually check side panel indications.

If an actual oeprating problem should occur, the buzzer will sound steadily (with a resulting visual indication).

The alarm circuit cannot be disconnected without disconnecting the entire system.

B. HYDRAULIC OIL TEMPERATURE

2) - The listed indicators will all go off, except the parking brake indicator (while it is engaged) D and brake pressure H (until the accumulators are again charged).

-

3) - If any malfunction occurs (in the case of the functions described for this monitor), the corresponding indicator will come on followed by the audible buzzer (item 4).

4) - The indicator for the parking brake D, differential lock T, warning light L, High Beam N , and turn indiindicators O O and M M will not trigger the audible alarm. .

When the warning light is on, this will indicate high temperature which may be caused by: - Use of improper grade oil.

-

Low oil level Abnormal circuit operation If none of the above, then check for: Faulty thermostat, short circuit or faulty panel.

C. TRANSMISSION OIL TEMPERATURE When the warning light is on, this is an indication of a very high temeprature and probable causes are: Clogged vent filter Prolonged use of the machine inder improper operating conditions.

- Malfunction in the hydraulic circuit operation If none of the above, then check for: - Faulty thermostat, short circuit or faulty panel.

D. PARKING BRAKE When the warning light is on, this indicates that the parking brake is engaged. In this condition, the transmission will be disengaged and will move with the brake disengaged.

5) - Differential lock / will work only with the parking brake off and then only from 1st to 7th speeds.

WARNING LIGHTS: A. ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE When this lights is on, it is an indication of engine coolant overheating caused by: - No water in the system - Dirt buildup in the radiator fins - Clogged circuit - Slackened fan belts - If none of the above indicatios, then check for: - Short circuit, faulty panel, faulty thermostat

OPERATOR´SCOMPARTMENT E. ABNORMAL BATTERY CHARGE OPERATION If the warning light is on with the engine running this is an indication of abnormality in the charging circuit caused by: Faulty alternator Damaged charge resistor Faulty circuit.(See Periodic Service)

J. HYDRAULIC OIL FILTER RESTRICTION If the restriction light stays on steadily, this is an indication that the filter element is restricted, requiring cleaning or replacement.

K. TRANSMISSION OIL RESTRICTION F. LOW TRANSMISSION OIL PRESSURE If the warning light is on, this is an indication of a very high pressure and possible causes are: - Use of improper grade oil - Low oil level - Faulty circuit operation - Faulty switch or faulty panel G. LOW ENGINE OIL PRESSURE If the light comes on, this will indicate insuficient pressure, which may be caused by: - Use of improper grade oil - Oil leakage - Faulty operation - Faulty pressure switch, short circuit or faulty panel.

H. LOW BRAKE FLUID PRESSURE f the light comes on, this will indicate insuficient pressure, which may be caused by: - Faulty pump - Membrane burst - Air entering the tubes - Oil leakage - Cracked pipes or tubes - Faulty pressure switch, short circuit or faulty panel.

If the restriction light stays on steadily, this is an indication that the filter element is restricted, requiring cleaning or replacement.

L. EMERGENCY FLASHER This alert light will be on by operation of the switch located on the right hand side of the front console.

M. TURN INDICATOR LIGHT N. HIGH BEAM INDICATOR LED (WORK) O. LEFT TURN INDICATOR LIGHT P. EMERGENCY STEERING (NOT APLICABLE) R. ENGINE SPEED INDICATOR T. DIFFERENTIAL LOCK APLIED INDICATOR 4 - OPTIONAL DIFFERENTIAL LOCK This button serves to engage or disengage the differential lock. To handle the machine the operator must disengage the lock. During transport,use of the differential lock is not allowed. .

I. AIR CLEANER RESTRICTION If the restriction light stays on steadily, this is an indication that the filter element is restricted, requiring cleaning or replacement.

OPERATOR´S COMPARTMENT 5- GEARS AND TROUBLESHOUTING INDICATOR This gauge shows in which gear the machine is in, and also indicates transmission calibration and when there is any malfunction it shows an error code to facilitate machine repair.

When the ignition switch is turned to the run position, the caracters (TD DC ER) will appear three times at the top of the display plus three (8´s) The first 8 will have a diagonal line across it, i.e., a control of all luminous indicators (LEDS).

If the key is in the start position (ON) withou cranking the starter motor, the indication on the display will be illuminated showing (ER100) in a few seconds.

This means the software version of the transmission´s electronic unit.

There is also an error code (ER100) (ER100), but this code will appear during recalibration.

The revision code may eventually change.

The next code will be ER101, ER102,etc.

10- THROTTLE AND DECELERATOR PEDAL This pedal is mechanically linked to the hand throttle.To increase engine speed, depress the front portion of the pedal. To slow down engine speed, depress the rear portion of the pedal. When the pedal is released, engine speed will revert to manual throttle control.

6- STEERING WHEEL TILT HANDLE This operation has previously been described under item 2, steering wheel.

7- "INCHING" PEDAL This serves to provide the operator with the ability to move the machine under load with a smooth and precise speed control (the inching pedal is supposed to be used continually for speed and traction control for more than 25 metres).

Fully depressing the inching control pedal will activate the switch that places the transmission in neutral. As soon as the inching pedal is released for the fully disengaged position (up), pressure for the clutch package (for the gear being used) is gradually increased, thereby allowing the machine to start moving.

1 - LATERIAL CIRCLE DISENGAGEMENT This lever is used to move the circle to the right or to the left.

Move lever forward to move the circle to the left, or move lever to the rear to move the circle to the right.

After moving the circle to the desired position, release the lever and it will return to neutral.

2 - MACHINE ARTICULATION LEVER

8- CONSOLE TILTING PEDAL The console may be adjustable for added operator comfort.

Depress the pedal. Position the panel as desired, then release the pedal.

Move lever forward (articulation to the left) or to the rear (articulation to the right) until the desired articulation angle is reached. Release lever and it will return to neutral.

9- BRAKE PEDAL Depress pedal to stop the motorgrader. This pedal works on the service brake.

NOTE: Do not go down steep sloves using the service brakes only. Slow down and engage the brakes. Select a proper gear that will allow total

OPERATOR´S COMPARTMENT 3 - WHEEL ANGLE CONTROL LEVER The front wheel angle control lever, tilts the wheels to the left or to the right, thereby maintaining the stability to dump or dig, and to facilitate or decrease the machine´s turning radius. Move the lever forward to tilt the wheels to the left or to the rear to tilt the wheels to the right. After reaching the desired position, release the lever and will return to neutral.

4 - BLADRAIAR ISE LEVER

Use this lever to raise or lower the right end of the blade. Move the lever forward to lower or to the rear to raise. After reaching the desired height, release the lever and it will return to neutral.

The fuse box houses all machine fuses, as shown below.

For proper identiication of the location of each fuse, check the electrical wiring diagram (A).

5 - WARII

Operate this buzzer whenever the machine is in hazardous situations.

OPERATOR´S COMPARTMENT 3 - GEAR SELECTOR LEVER

NEUTRAL LOCK (T) SAFETY LOCK The neutral lock is a feature that keeps the lever locked (transmission in neutral), to prevent unwanted machine movement.

Gear shifting positions are as follows: FForward NNeutral RReverse DS- Downshifting US- Upshifting The gear selector lever is used to select the appropriate gear, either forward or reverse.

These machines are fitted with an 8 forward and 4 reverse gears transmission.

Gear shfiting is through an electronic selector which also has the function of prevent unwanted gear shifting.

Through this selector you can select gears (1st, 2nd, etc.) and direction (forward or reverse).

The selector has a digital indicator which shows the situation the transmission is in. If the digital display shows an error code, this means that there is a malfunction in the transmission. In this case, see a NEW HOLLAND dealer to correct the fault.

Starting from neutral, move the lever (forward or to the rear), and the transmission will automatically select 1st gear according to the direction chosen (1st forward or 1st reverse).

Selection of the other gears is by a simple touch on the shift lever, to the right (increase speed) or to the left (decrease speed). The digital display will always show the direction and the gear the transmission is in, so that the operator will at all times know what gear is engaged.

To select forward or reverse gears, it will be necessary to pull the lock T up, hold and move the lever to the desired position.

4 - INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (A)

A-SADLLE LOCK SWITCH This switch enables and disables the sadlle lock function.

To enable the saddle lock, move the switch to the ON position. To disable the function, shift the switch to the OFF position.

B-RIPPER OR SCARIFIER SWITCH This switch enables or disables the ripper or scarifier function.

These are ON/OFF type switches, allowing the front blade float function to be engaged or disengaged.

To engage float, move the the switch to the ON position. To disable the function, shift the switch to the OFF position.

C-MAIN BLADE FLOAT SWITCH / LEFT HAND This switch enables and disables the main blade float function.

These are ON/OFF type switches, allowing the front blade float function to be engaged or disengaged.

To engage float, move the the switch to the ON position. To disable the function, shift the switch to the OFF position.

This switch enables and disables the main blade float function.

These are ON/OFF type switches, allowing the front blade float function to be engaged or disengaged.

To engage float, move the the switch to the ON position. To disable the function, shift the switch to the OFF position.

This switch is used in the event of a failure of the transmission electronic control board; to allow the machine to be driven to the repair shop in case the control board cannot be replaced immediately. There are three positions: Forward, Neutral and Reverse.

Except it will be necesary to place the switch in Neutral with the parking brake engaged to enable the engine to be started. (See Section "Periodic Service" Service")

E- FRONT BLADE FLOAT SWITCH This switch enables and disables the front blade float function.

These are ON/OFF type switches, allowing the front blade float function to be engaged or disengaged.

To engage float, move the the switch to the ON position. To disable the function, shift the switch to the OFF position.

C- FRONT WINDSCREEN WIPER

F- MAIN BLADE ANTI-SHOCK SWITCH

E- REAR WINDOW WIPER

This switch enables and disables the main blade cylinders anti-shock function.

These are ON/OFF type switches, allowing the main blade cylinders anti-shock function to be engaged or disengaged.

To engage float, move the the switch to the ON position. To disable the function, shift the switch to the OFF position.

This switch is for the rear window wiper.

This switch is for the front windscreen siper.

D- FRONT WINDSCREEN WASHER This switch is for the front windscreen washer.

F- REAR WINDOW WASHER his switch is for the rear window washer.

G- BLADE WORK LAMP This switch is for the blade work lamps.

4 - SWITCH PANEL (B) H- REAR WORK LAMP This switch is for the rear work lamps I- CAB LIGHT This switch is for de cab lights.

E - TRANSMISSION OIL TEMPERATURE The oil temperature gauge needle should stay at all times within the green zone of the gauge. Temperature in the red zone may occur due to low gear operation. do not operate machine with the gauge need in the red zone. Stop machine, move the shift lever to neutral and idle the engine until the temperature drops.

6- MASTER BATTERY SWITCH

A - ENGINE OIL PRESSURE The engine oil pressure gauge shows the pressure at which the lubricating oil is circulating in the engine.

The red zone means insufficient pressure. The green zone denotes normal working pressure and the yellow zone denotes high engine working pressure.

Machine functions can only be activated if the master battery switch is ON.

When the machine must stay switched off for a long period of time, switch off the master battery switch.

OFF B - ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE GAUGE - The pointer in the green zone denotes normal working pressure (80o to 95o C).

- The WHITE zone indicates low pressure.

- The RED zone indicates high temperature

If during operation the temperature gauge needle lingers in the WHITE or RED zone, stop the machine and investigate the cause of the problem.

8- STARTER SWITCH

C - FUEL LEVEL GAUGE

This is a rotary type switch that can be activated only by the switch key.

The switch has 4 (four) positions as follows:

The green zone denotes fuel volume for normal operation. When the needle goes into the red zone, this means the fuel level is at the minimum (reserve) mark (approximately 75 litres).

Refill the fuel reservoir using clean fuel. Refuelling is recommend at the end of each days work to prevent overnight condensation. Therefore, do not operate machine with the needle in the red zone, until you determine the cause of the problem and correct it.

Do not use up all the fuel in the reservoir, as this would cause ingress of air into the fuel system and it would be necessary to bleed the air.

D - TRANSMISSION OIL PRESSURE The transmission pressure gauge needle should stay in the green zone of the display, indicating normal operating pressure. If the needle goes into the red zone, this is an indication that oil pressure is low.

ACC ON RUN START ACC ACC- Accessories In this position, all circuits are OFF ON - Activated In this position, are circuits are ON. RUN - Activated This position activates all machine circuits.

START START- Start-up Turn switch key to this position to crank the starter motor. As soon as the engine runs, release the key and it will automatically return to RUN. Never leave the key in the RUN position when the engine is not running.

2- Turn cab fan switch (1) on to high speed position (3).

3- Finally, push the system operating button B2,B3 or B4 B4.

REFRIGERANT CHARGE

For a leak test and/or recharge using only air compressor valves A and B.

1. Inject 50 grams of R134a and raise system pressure to 10 Bar (245 psi), by injecting gaseous nitrogen.

2. Test for gas leaks. If any leakage is found, empty the system, and correct the leakage. Then, repeat operation 8.1.

3. Empty the system.

4. Connect manifold hoses.

5. Connect vacuum pump to the center spout of the manifold.

6. Open manifold valves and switch on the pump.

7. Wait 20 minutes, after the pressure gauges register 26 inHg vacuum.

8. Connect the charge cylinder hose, open manifold valve on the high pressure side and inject 1200 grams of R134a gas.

9. Close the manifold valve, remove the gas charge hose and repeat item 8.3.

10. Disconnect the manifold and replace service valve caps.

MAINTENANCE

1. Every 6 months perform a leak test.

- After every component replacement or R134a leakage, top up oil level with approximately 50 ml through the compressor, with PAG oil (polialclenaglycol). If the component is the compressor, it will not be necessary to top up, as it already comes filled with oil.

3. Every month or when the condenser air inlet is 20% obstructed, clean the air inlet.

4. Every year check bolts for proper tightening and belt tensions.

5. Cleain air conditioner filters every month or when noticing any decrease of air flow.

6. After every total refrigerant leakage, top up compressor oil level with approximately 130 m.

2- PARKING BRAKE

Operator´s seat and parking brake 1- SEAT ADJUSTMENT Prior to starting the machine, adjust and lock the operator´s seat for maximum operator comfort and machine control.

The parking brake is engaged manually. When the lever is pulled up, its gear mechanism alllows partiall or total braking (the parking brake lever system permits other engaging positions).

To disengage, pull the lever slightly up, press the release trigger (A) and push the lever down.

GROUP 6 Cab In any environment condition, the cab offers maximum operator comfort.

Operator´s seat

CAB DOOR

Pull the adjusting lever to relase seat movement and move seat to and fro to the desired position.

Release the lever to lock the seat.

To ajust seat height, loosen the attaching bolts on the seat column. Adjust seat height, by aligning the holes in the seat column to the holes in the support.

Reinstall the bolts and tighten securely.

Always prior to abandoning the operator´s seat and after ensuring that all people are away from the machine, lower the attachments or tools slowly to the ground. Move the attachments to a safe position.

Place all controls in HOLD position. Move transmission control to neutral and move engine controls to the OFF position. Lock the controls and engage the parking brake. Switch off and lock the ignition switch.

Follow signalman signs, safety signs and general signage.

To open the door, pull handle (1). To keep the door open during machine operation, or during cab servicing, open the door until it contacts the automatic lock. To unlock, operate handle (2).

OPERATION RELATED WARNING

The air louvers (A) turn 1800 and have adjustable openings for improved air flow directions.

CAUTION

(A)

Always check the working area to prevent injuries.

Some hazardous working areas are as follows: ramps, ravines, logs, wreck work, fire, high walls, embankments, excavation work, traffic, crowded parking lots and closed spaces. Extreme care should be taken in such areas.

Care should be taken on land edges that may slide, sliding areas and falling objects. Care should be taken with shrubbery, tree limbs and other hidden obstacles.

3- WINDSCREEN WIPER

During night time operation, keep all machine lights turned on. Check all burnt light bulbs, replace them immediately.

Always switch off the engine when abandoning the operator´s seat.

Prior to moving machine and attachments, ensure all people exposed in the area are away from the unit. Take an inspection walk around the machine prior to climbing up and honk the horn.

Do not start at full power when towing a trailer chain or rope. Pull with care.

To replace front and rear wiper blades (A), raise blade support arm, loosen the blade from the lock pin and remove the blade.

Assemble in the reverse order of disassembly.

Check for leaks in the exhaust system under the hood. when operating inside an enclosed cab, leave the breather open to provide air circulation during the entire operating time.

4- CAB INTERIOR LIGHT Keep from using the brakes continually on long down grades. Choose the most appropriate gear going down.

Keep all people away from all attachments and tools while these are in the raised position, to prevent injuries.

CAUTION By resolving rapidly all of your machine problemas, you will reduce maintenance and downtime. It is advisable that you check your machine every morning, prior to starting the days work, or check machine daily.

OPERATION Turn the master battery switch located in the inside rear of the cab to ON. Pull throttle lever to the position if the engine is cold (1/4 open if the engine is warm).

Turn the fuel shut off handle to release, then push the handle all the way up to "ON". Turn the knob to lock in this position.

Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position. When the engine starts, release the key. Pull the hand throtlle immediately to the idling position. Then, move the throttle lever to the midway speed position.

Hold halfway of the maximum speed, until the temperature gauge needle moves from minimum.

NOTE: Do not crank the starter motor for more than 30 seconds at a time without a 2 minute pause to allow the motor to cool down. Watch all instruments.

It is extremely important to leave the engine running for 3 to 5 minutes with the throttle lever at 1/4 to 1/ 2 of full travel, to allow the lubricating oil to warm up and circulate freely around the bearing. This procedure is recommended in cold weather.

Check engine lubricating oil pressure. With the engine running at high idle and coolant at normal operating temperature, oil pressure should be within normal operating limits. When the oil is cold, there will be no pressure indication on the display for a few seconds after the engine has been started. If the pressure does not raise to normal or above normal after a few seconds, stop engine immediately. Investigate the cause of the problem and try to correct them.

Check transmission fluid pressure gauge. After a few seconds after starting the engine, the transmission oil needle should be inside or close to the green zone.

DURING ENGINE STARTING 1 - Before starting the engine, start with the fuel shut off for 10 to 15 seconds, or until the instruments show sufficient oil pressure.

2- Start and run engine in low idle for 3 to 4 minutes before accelerating.

3- Do not increase engine speed after starting to prevent lack of lubrication of the turbocharger bearings.

DURING ENGINE STOPPING Prior to switching off the engine, run it for a few minutes in low idle to allow the turbocharger to declerate and stabilize at a low operating speed.

Avoid high speeds during engine stopping to prevent damage to the turbocharger bearing due to lack of lubrication. If the engine is abruptly switched off in high speed, the turbocharger will continue turning after the engine oil pressure drops to "ZERO". Operating at high speeds with lack of oil, the turbocharger bearings may be damaged in a matter of seconds.

ENGINE SPEED CHANGE Prolonged use of engine idling will cause coolant temperatures to drop below the operating limit.

Provided the engine is running, there is no reason for prolonged idling. Switch off the engine when this occurs. However, if it is necessary to keep the engine running, it shall have adequate speed to keep engine oil pressure and coolant temperature. Move gear selector lever to neutral, and engage the parking brake. Lower the blade to the ground. Do not abandon the machine.

OPERATION This machine and attachments should be operated only by a qualified operator, either seated or standing, depending on the working conditions.

Wear your seat belt, as recommended for ROPS fitted machines.

Be alert to the following instructions: 1- Slow down when engine speed is below normal operating speed for the selected gear.

2 - Shift down one gear at a time.

3 - Shift direction (forward - reverse) only with engine idling and machine stopped.

Prior to starting the machine, check, adjust and lock the operator´s seat for added comfort and control of the machine.

This machine is fitted with a steering system which is effective only when the engine is running. If the engine fails, stop machine at once.

During emergency stops, depress the brake pedal or the engage the parking brake.

Check wheel and steering bolts prior to driving the machine. Torque these bolts to recommended torque values in the specifications.

CAUTION Never go down grade with the transmission in neutral.

Do not attempt to decelerate in flat, level surfaces, by slowing down the machine. Slow down the engine, and depress the brake pedal. Plan your grading work prior to starting moving. Choose an appropriate gear to keep control.

When starting engage transmission only with engine idling.

Shift up or down only a gear at a time, and then only when machine ground speed is close to the next gear up.

Always have the scarifiers completely raised while moving, and lower them to the ground when stopped.

TOWING Use extreme care when pushing the blade against heaps, embankments or slopes.

NOTE: When turning motorgrader wheels to the stops (in either direction), do not keeping turning the steering wheel to the same direction (this will cause unwanted pump and valve components wear).

To start driving the machine, raise the blade, release the parking brake and shift to the desired gear and direction. Move the hand throttle for starting.

CAUTION Do not start abruptly when towing a trailer or pulling a wire rope. Pull the wire rope slowly until it is taut.

Only proper towing and pulling attachment should be used for this purpose. Use extreme care when using attachments.

Subsequent gear changes will be governed by the speed attained or desired.

Choose a transmission gear that will keep the machine at an appropriate speed for the load required. Low engine speed may be corrected by slowing down or decreasing load. Maximum machine ground speed should be avoided. Decrease speed by applying the brakes (only drag the cutting edge of the blade as a last resource). Improper gear change patterns may result in injuries to the operator and damage to the machine and transmission.

OPERATION The limit of the transmission and engine speed must be adjusted prior to starting the cutting operation.

Never put a too heavy load on the blade, as the rear wheels may slip. This besides not assisting in the cutting operation will cause unwanted rear tire wear.

By increasing the blade angle (putting one end of the blade more forward thant the other) will decrease the load. The blade should be operated so as to push the material being moved toward the inside or outside of the rear wheels, or under the wheels, except for compacting work.

The blade tilt feature may be used for carrying out various operations. When the top of the blade is pitched forward, the cutting edge will not cut the material, put will push it. This is handy when pushing piece material, particularly when working with heavy material, as these will run inside the blade, thereby facilitating movement.

As material builds up underneath the machine, it should be dragged to the sides prior to doing a new excavation in the tranch line. The deeper the trench, the larger the material buildup.

If the trench is "V" shaped, each side of the trench should excavated alternately to allow the front and rear wheels to move along the center of the trench.

When it is necessary to drag the material up the edge of the fill, shift the blad to one side; in this way, the motorgrader wheels will not be on the edge of the place to be filled. The weight of the tractor could cause the edge to cave in, putting the operator at risk.

When grading the elbow of a street, you may have to grade around some objects such as mail boxes, utility pillar or posts. The blade may be tilted sideways, around the object without affecting the grade level.

CUTTING A SLOPE

Use of the blade to drag material should be avoided as much as possible. This may cause blade guide wear and possible damage to the blade locating piston rod. If blade rear drag cannot be avoided, ensure the material is not in contact with the blade locating piston rod.

To position the blade (in this case, toward to right side), proceed as follows: 1- Turn the circle until the blade is perpendicular to the direction of the machine.

With blade guides extended or worn, cutting work may become unstable.

When cutting or moving heavy loads that tend to deviate the machine from its course, angle the front wheels toward the laod to counteract this effect.

NOTE: Remove the scarifier teeth prior to attempting to open or clean a ditch.

When starting excavating trenches, position the blad such that the cutting edge (right hand or left hand) is directly to the rear and 3" (76 mm) below the front wheel, and the opposite end of the blade raised as high as possible.

Drag the material between the two rear wheels. The first excavation should be light to keep control of the motorgrader and keep a traight trench line.

OPERATION 2- Move the blade to the extreme right, then move the circle to the right, until the cylinder rod has a protrusion of 127 mm (5 inches) and lower the blade to the ground with a light pressure.

4- Slightly raise the blad off the ground then raise the right hand end of the blade. At the same time, turn the circle such that the right hand end of the blade moves toward the front of the motorgrader (this will prevent the left hand end of the blade from hitch the ground).

Simultaneously move the circle up using the side shift lever (in this case, pull the circle side shift lever toward the rear).

NOTE: As the left end of the blade gets a clearance from the ground, it will be necessary to simultaneously lower the left end of the blade when raising the right end.

Blade positioned to one side of the motorgrader

3- Disengage the 3 hole saddle lock pin and, using the blade raise lever, extend the right hand cylinder rod and retract the left hand cylinder rod (blade on the ground), to turn the sadlle. After the saddle has been turned to the desired position, align the pin holes and reengage the lock pins.

Blade in 900 slope position 5- Proceed with the operation (as in item 4) until the blade is positioned as shown in the illustration. then, turn the blade (using circle rotation) to the desired position.

IMPORTANT: During backfill operations, improved control of the blade may be possible by using the angle of the front wheels to pusse the blade in the direction required or moving it away from the fill.

OPERATION The teeth of the scarifier should be in good conditions for best results. Never drag the teeth rearward. This may seriously damage the attachment bar.

When operating the machine and it is necessary to negotiate a curve, slow down and angle the front wheels toward the curve. After completing the curve, straighten up the front wheel to the original position and resume normal ground speed.

When moving the motorgrader to one location to the other, keep the blade within the width limit of the machine, and raised as high as possible, to prevent injuries.

Position of the circle with 3 hole saddle

SCARIFYING To scarify any surface, it will be best to use more teeth with a shallower penetration than fewer teeth with a deeper penetration. Also it would be best to brake the surface of the material into smaller lumps.

When the scarifier is used in crowded urban areas, use care with shallow manholes, sewers and other utilities.

Use the lowest gear (1st gear) with engine at high speed for improved control of the motorgrader and also for improved breaking up of the surface of the material.

When driving or operating the motorgrader on the road, always move the hand throttle to a low speed position, select the desired gear then use the throttle/ decelerator to control machine speed. The declutch mechanism must be disengaged for the engine to operate as a retarder.

Ensure the speed system is operating properly to allow engine speed to return to idling when the operator releases the throttle/dethrottle pedal.

When operating the motorgrader, follow traffic rules and be alert to the traffic of other vehicles. Be ready for any emergency.

If the motorgrader is used for maintenance work on crowded areas or roads, put up warning signs to prevent accidents. Keep an eye on the traffic of other vehicles, particularly before turning or changing direction of travel or when working inside the traffic.

STOPPING AND PARKING THE MOTORGRADERS Park the motorgrader in the desired parking area.

Position the blade with the ends inside the limits of the length between the wheels, then lower the blade to the ground.

Move the gear selector lever to neutral.

OPERATION Prior to switching of the engine, keep it running at 1/ 4 throttle during 3 or 4 minutes for the engine to cool down gradually. Then, move the throttle lever to idle and pull the fuel shut off button out to stop the engine.

Turn the fuel shut off handle to the "OFF" position and lock the handle. Switch off the starter switch, remove the switch key and engage the parking/emergency brake. Turn the master battery switch to the OFF position and lock the master battery switch casing door behind the left hand battery case.

Check ROPS attaching bolts after the first 50 operating hours and thereafter at regular intervals.

ROPS attaching bolts torque is 50.8 da.Nm (52.6 kgm) (375 lb.ft). If the enclosed cab (special equipment) is installed, keep all cab accessories, such as windscreen wipers, sliding bolts, glass, hinges, seat belts, etc. in good condition. Keep glass panels clean at all times.

CAUTION If any glass replacements are required, use only safety glass or equivalent.

PRECAUTIONS IN COLD WEATHER Machine cooling system is factory filled with a 50% mixture of water and 50% AGRIFLU. The AGRIFLU product protects the engine down to a temperature of -34oC (-30oF). This solution must not be drained prior to operating the unit.

OPERATION Articulated motorgraders may be operated with NON ARTICULATED, ARTICULATED OR OFF-SET (CRAB) frame.

The OFF-SET condition the operator is allowed to keep the rear of the machine on hard soil in the case of landfill work, thereby providing improved finish of drainage channels, and with a smaller number of passes during spreading. This also allows concentrating the weight behind the blad in heavy operation.

While most motorgrades provide a 360o circle turn, most operations are carried out with the blade at 15o and 45o relative to the direction of work.

Excessive blade angle decreases the side shift distance of the material cut by the blade; however, it allows deeper cuts and more severe grading work..

ARTICULATED

A change of the approach angle and pitch of the blade are equally very important for productivity.

By pitching the blade forward, rolling of the material cut is facilitated in addition to improved spreading and compaction of the material.

By rolling the blade back, provides improved blade catting action, however this decreases material rolling along the blade.

The "ROLL-AWAY" surround frame blade keeps material rolling capability when the blade is rolled back.

The NON ARTICULATED frame is usually used for grading large areas and also in road maintenance conservation work.

With the ARTICULATED frame, turning radius is decreased, thereby facilitating machine control in limited spaces. Also, this provides a more precise control of the movement of material cut by the blade.

Angling the blade in the cut generates a side stress on the machine. This stress should be offset by the angle of the front wheels and/or frame articulation in the direction of the blade cutting stresses.

Shifting the angle is recommended only during cutting on machines fitted with phenolic resin plates in the circle supports, so as to decrease friction and wear of the circle deck.

TYPICAL OPERATIONS AND WORKING TECHNIQUES Cutting a "V" channel.

Keep the frame rigid if you are cutting a channel through compacted material.

OPERATION For work in loose soil, articulate the frame so as to keep the tandems on the hardest possible soil.

With the circle centered under the frame, position the center of the blade slightly offset from the front tire.

Pitch the blade forward until the top of the blade is in alignment with the center of the front tire.

Position the blade such that the material cut is unloaded at the center of the machine, between the tandems. Slightly angle the front wheels toward the material discharge.

Do a cleaning pass to remove material from the channel, throwing it over the roadway and spreading as required.

TERRACING - CONTOUR LINES One of the most important applications of motorgraders in agriculture is terracing with contour lines to restrain and distribute storm water over farming fields, for increased productivity and preventing erosion of hillsides.

This work consists of cutting "V" shapped channels according to the contour lines of the terrain, spaced 10 to 100 meters from one another, except the longer spacings are for lower grades and the shorter one for steeper grades. These channels serve also to distribute liquid fertilizers by gravity.

CUTTING A FLAT BED CHANNEL Opening a flat bed channel is a continuation of the "V" shaped channel cut.

During the first pass, in 1st or 2nd gear, cut just the necessary amount of material to lay out the alignment of the channel. During the second pass, locate the wheels inside the channel and at a speed slightly higher than the first pass, in order to keep a wall slant of 3:1.

Discharge of the cut material must be kept between the tandems. A cleaning pass is required. Move the circle and extended blade right behind the column of material, so as to prevent land from sliding into the channel. The corner of the blade should be positioned between the tandemas, with the blade slightly angled and pitched forward, to facilitate rolling of the material. All channel cut passes should be with the differential lock on, in 2nd or 3rd gear.

To cut channels with slopes from 1,5:1 to 2:1, move the circle and the blade against the bank.

Aligh the corner of the blade with the center of the rear tire. Position blade end outside the front tire and pitch the blade slightly forward. Orient the wheels toward the "V" channel in order to deposit material from the slop into the channel.

With the circle centered under the frame in straight ahead position, position the end of the blade behind the outer edge of the front tire. Angle the blade until the opposite end reaches the width and depth of the channel desired (with front scarifires it is possible to position the blade at 90o, if necessary).

Pitch the blade slightly forward, in order to spread the material over the bed of the channel.

This pass should be done in 1st and 2nd gears (with differential locked, if fitted).

During the following pass, push the material out of the channel and over the roadbed. To do this, move the circle and the blade away from the heap and angle the blade sufficiently to prevent the material from going back into the channel.

Keep the end of the blade close enough to the front tire to prevent lumps of material from rolling into the channel. During the following pass spread the material smoothly from the edge of the road toward the middle.

OPERATION Cleaning a wet channel

Roadbed - cambering After laying out the drainage, the following step is to grade and camber the roadbed.

Keep the frame straight ahead, the circle centered and the blade almost perpendicular to the machine so that the material rolls off by ends of the blade, and cut the crest of the road high enough to allow draining to both edges of the road.

The articulated motorgrader turns cleaning wet channels into a very simple operation.

During subsequent passes, angle the blade between 10o and 25o and pitch the blade slightly forward to allow the material to roll toward the edges fo the road.

Articulate the frame to the OFF-SET position, in order to keep the rear wheels on firm ground while the front wheels run along the bank.

Do these passes in a relatively high speed to allow the loose material to pass under the blade prior to reaching the sides.

Move the circle and the blade toward the channel, with the blade angled so as to bring the material onto the roadbed.

During the final pass, at each edge of the road, place the end of the blade in alignment with the tandem such that the rear tires will compact the material that may overflow from the sides of the blade.

If the channel is steeply sloped, to the point of the front wheel losing contact with the soild, try to drive further into or out of the channel, in order to keep both wheels on the ground. If you do not want to let the rear wheels to touch the slope of the channel, locate them partially toward the channel in surch a way as to skew the machine sufficiently to keep the front wheels in contact with the ground.

MAINTENANCE GENERAL NOTE Always check oil level and drain or fill the various reservoirs with the machine on a level surface.

The intervals specified here refer to normal operating conditions. During the initial operating period (run-in) and particular operating conditions, service intervals may be shortened.

Clean all gaskets, caps, pins, etc., prior to making repairs, to prevent ingress of dirt during servicing.

Never change the fuel timing and settings. Seals must be removed only by authorized personnel, otherwise the warranty given by NEW HOLLAND will be voided.

Drain the oil immediately after shutting down the engine, as the oil will still be hot and will drain more easily. This will also help eliminating any contamination in the oil.

After filling the system at the proper oil change intervals, check oil only after the engine has been idling for a few minutes. This practice will ensure that the various engine components, such as heat exchanger, filters, lines, etc., will be filled prior to checking oil level.

The amount of grease required by grease fittings is measured in shots. A shot is the equivalent of grease grun squirt.

EVERY 10 HOURS OF WORK OR DAILY 1-

ENGINE CRANKCASE Check oil level

A

Check coolant level with engine cold. Turn radiator expansion tank cap slowly to relieve pressure prior to removing the cap. Keep coolant level to the bottom of the filler neck.

Check oil level right after switching off the engine.

Pull the oil level dipstick (2) and watch the level marks. If oil level is below the "ADD" mark (MINIMUM), or above the top "FULL" mark (MAXIMUM), do not tart the engine. Top up through filler opening (1) as required.

NOTE: Never pour antifreeze into the cooling system.

Pour coolant as required to top up. Tighten radiador cap.

RADIATOR Coolant level

CAUTION

Fluid under pressure. Turn cap slowly to relieve pressure, prior to removing cap or until all pressure has been relieved. Hot coolant may boil and cause severy injuries or burns.

A

Fluid under pressure. Turn cap slowly to relieve pressure, prior to removing the cap.

Ensure the machine is on level ground with the engine switched off. Lower the blade to the ground. Check oil level on the sight gauge (1). Oil level should be in the center area of the sight gauge. If necessary, remove the reservoir cap and top up as required (2).

Check transmission oil level while the oil is still hot and the system under load. Move transmission control lever to 'NEUTRAL', keep the engine idling and engage the parking brake. Turn cap handle countrer-clockwise to loosen. Pull the cap up and check oil level in the dipstick. Top up as required to the maximum level mark in the dipstick. After checking oil level, ensure the cap is screwed on tight.

ENGINE CRANKCASE Change oil

Pour in specified oil through the filler opening. Run engine for some 15 seconds to fill the filters and lubricate the engine. Keep the engine running for a short period then switch it off to check the oil level.

Check filters for leaks.

Check that the engine is at normal operating temperature. Remove drain plug (A) located at the bottom right of the engine crankcase and let the oil drain. Ensure the joint is in good condition and replace the drain plug. Remove the filter. Clean thoroughly the area of the filter gasket mating surface.

REAR AXLE CENTER HOUSING Check oil level

Rear axle center housing Remove level plug (A). If necessary, add oil until it flows from the plug opening (A). Top up as required until oil flows from plug opening (A). Reinstall the plug and ensure it is firmly tightened.

CIRCLE SWING REDUCTION GEAR CASING Check oil level

Remove level plug "2". If no oil comes out the plug opening, remove plug "1" and add oil until it comes out from plug opening "2"; then reinstall the plugs.

Engine oil filter NOTE: The sealing ring often sticks to the filter head mating surface. Ensure the sealing ring is removed.

CAUTION: Prior to installing the filter, fill it with clean, new lubricating oil. Prior to assembling the filter to the engine, apply a light film of oil to the seal ring mating surface.

CAUTION: Using a tool to tighten the filter may damage the filter. Tighten manually. Then check for leaks around the base of the filter while the engine is running. Tighten further if necessary. Torque is 3/4 turns after the filter bottoms out against the base.

FUEL FILTERS Change

Measure belt deflection midway between the longest span between the pulley.

Maximum allowable deflection is 9,5 to 12,7mm (3/ 8 to 1/2").

Remove the belt using a 1/2" square socket handle.

CHECKING BELT AND TENSIONER After removing the belt check belt carefully for damage.

Fuel filter

Thoroughly clean the area around the fuel filters head, 1 and 2.

Remove filters and thoroughly clean the filter head gasket mating furface.

Replace the filter and sealing rings. Fill fuel filter and lubricate the sealing rings with new engine oil.

BELT TENSIONER A belt tensioner pulley must be able to turn freely, without any point showing any resistance, sticking, etc., when turned by hand. Check condition of the belt tensioner bearing.

REINSTALLING THE BELT Using a 1/2" socket handle and acting on the tensioner slot, fit the belt checking carefully that the poly-V ribs properly engage the existing grooves in the alternator pulley and vibration damper.

Clean the filter and the area around the filter. Then, remove the filter housing (F), replace the element and the gaskets. Clean filter (F), inside, and the filter mating surface. Reinstall filter (F).

HYDRAULIC TANK FILTERS Check

Use safety goggles with side visor when using an air compressor for cleaning purposes, to prevent injuries caused from flying debris. Keep compressor air pressure at 207 kPa (30 psi).

Clean the metal filter in a solvent. Use the air compressor to clean the element. Blow air from inside out.

Install a new rubber ring into the groove and then install the tube (pre-filter). Fit bolts (2) and torque to 4.8 - 5.4 daNm (4.9 - 5.5 kgm (35-40 lbs.in).

Check that the valve and the metal filter are properly seated to the tube. Fill the tank to the level indicated by the gauge. Operate the pressure relief valve.

Install a new rubber ring (14) on the filler cab and install the cap.

CAUTION Fluid under pressure. Turn cap slowly to relieve pressure, prior to removing the cap.

FUEL TANK DRAIN PLUG Clean

RETURN FILTER Change Loosen the filler cap to relieve pressure or plug (10).

Remove cap (1) from the top of the tank. Remove spring / valve (4), cap (5) and rubber ring (6) from the top of the element (7). Remove the element from the tank.

Check that the rubber ring is in good condition, then install a new filter at the top of the exhaust tube.

Install cap (5) and spring / valve (4) on the top of the element.

Check that the rubber ring (6) is in good condition and replace as required. Install cap (1) on the tank and tighten with bolt (2). Torque bolt to 4.8 - 5.4 daNm (4.95 - 5.5 kgm) (35 - 40 lbs).

CAUTION SUCTION LINE FILTER Clean Loosen filler cap (1) to relieve pressure. Remove cap to tank attaching bolts (9). Remover filler cap, the tube and the hydraulic tank filter. Remove and replace the filter rubber ring.

Never use gasoline, solvents or other flammable fluids to clean the parts. Use only approved commercial, non-flammable, non-toxic solvents.

Put out any vaporizing material or naked flames prior to removing the drain plug due to the present of flammable fluids.

Remove drain plug (D) prior to starting the engine and allow water and sediment to drain. Close the drain plug when clean fuel start flowing.

TRANSMISSION OIL FILTER Replace

Reinstall drain plug (at this time change transmission oil filter).

Fill the system with specified oil until flush with the bottom of the plug.

CAUTION

Never use gasoline, solvents or other fluids to clean the parts. Use only commercial, non-flammable, nontoxic solvents.

FUEL INJECTORS Check

This filter (F) is a remote type filter. To replace, clean the area around the filter. Then replace filter element and gaskets. Clean the inside of the filter and mating surface. Reinstall the filter.

TRANSMISSION Change oil

CAUTION Keep your hands away from injector end. Atomized fuel is ejected with sufficient force to cause blood poisoning. Use safety goggles.

Drain plug (D) Keep engine running until the transmission oil reaches normal operating temperature.

Park machine on a level, flat surface, engage parking brake, lower the blade to the ground and switch off the engine.

Remove the drain plug(D)

Remove fuel injector pipes from the injectors and cover them to prevent contamination. Remove injector attaching bolts on the cylinder head and remove the injectors.

Cover all openings in the cylinder head to prevent contamination.

The injectors must be checked by qualified personnel and specialized service shops, that have proper equipment.

Nozzle opening pressure settings are 205 BAR. Ensure all gaskets and seals are in good condition.

MAINTENANCE Install injector in the cylinder head and torque nuts to 2,5 daNm (18 lb x ft).

Then install fuel injection pipes and tighten manually.

Switch on the engine to bleed the pipes then tighten the nuts.

Check for leaks. Retighten nuts as required.

ENGINE VALVES Adjust

Remove drain plug (A) and drain oil into a container.

Remove the filler cap to ventilate the reservoir while draining the oil.

Replace the filter and clean the metal screen.

Install the drain plug and fill the reservoir with new oil to the recommended level.

Install the filler cap.

Start the engine and operate the controls for the oil to fill the circuit.

Adjust tappet clearances always with engine cold, i.e., with coolant temperature below 60oC. First determine top dead center (PMS) in cylinder No. 1 of the engine. Turn engine manually and slowly using a 1/2" socket extension and hand turning fixture. Tappet clearances should be as follows: Intake: 0,360 mm Exhaust: 0,46 mm

Switch off the engine, check hydraulic oil level and top up as required.

Turn radiator cap slowly to relieve pressure. Remove plug (1) located underneath the oil cooler and allow coolant to drain.

Air flow direction when working

Check for hoses in poor condition or loose or damaged hose clamps. Replace as required.

After draining, flush radiator with clean water containing no calcium content.

Fill cooling system with a 50% mixture of AGRIFLU and 50% clean water to approximately 3cm from the plug opening.

Reinstall the radiator cap. Start the engine until coolant reaches normal operating temperature.

Switch off the engine, check coolant level and top up as required.

NOTE: AGRIFLU is a protective fluid for water cooled systems ensuring perfect heat exchange when added to the radiator mixed with common clean water at 50%. AGRIFLU is composed of glycols and special additives that prevent the formation of foam, rusting and calcareous scale, thereby providing protection for all components of the cooling system.

Use safety goggles with safety flaps when using an air compressor for cleaning. This will prevent the danger of injuries by flying debris. Keep air pressure at 207 kpa (30 PSI) according to requirements.

For proper air cleaning maintenance, proceed as follows:

CAUTION: The inner element is a safety elemento and therefore under no circumstances it should be removed. Replace this element at every three changes of the outer element.

f) After having cleaned the element, check for any ruptures or perforations. Insert a bright light inside the element and inspect the element from the outside.

The light will shine through any perforation or holes in the element. If you can see any perforations, install a new element. g) Inspect the inner element retaining nut (4). Replace the wing nut if damaged. h) Clean the inside of the air cleaner casing cup (7) prior to installing the elment (5). Insert the element and tighten with the wing nut.

a) Clean the dirt and oil in the air cleaner casing. b) Loosen clamp (5) that attaches the cup to the body of the air cleaner. Remove cup (7). c) Remove the wing nut and remove the outer element.

NOTE: Visually check the inner element whenever the outer element is replaced.

Parking brake Check parking brake lever. The lever should have a distinctive action from the center.

Adjust the parking brake by turning the top of the lever clockwise (as the brake was engaged) to get an action from the center. If adjustment of the lever is too tight, loosen lock nut (4), remove pin (2) and turn the tensionar pin (3) clockwise several times so that, when raising lever (2), the hoje in the tensioner pin is in alignment with the hole in the lever.

Do not inflate tires with flammable gases or using air from systems using alcohool injectors. This could result in explosion or injuries.

Check tire pressures in the pressure gauge. Normal tire pressures are: 13,00 X 24 - 12 PR 2,1 bar (30 PSI) 14,00 X 24 - 10 PR 2,5 bar (35 PSI) 14,00 x 24 - 12 PR 2,1 bar (30 PSI) 17,50 x 25 - 12 PR 3,5 bar (50 PSI)

Do not stand in front of a tire during the inflating process or when doing maintenance work. Stand to the side of the tire and extend your arm to the inflation valve.

Ensure the tires are inflated to the specified pressure.

Check tire condition regularly.

Check tire pressures only with tires cold. Avoid inflating tires with pressures below recommended pressures. Do not use reworked wheel rims.

Excessive and improper welding may weaken the rims and cause them to fail.

Circle guides The circle and circle guides should be clean to prevent sticking. If circle guides are excessively loose, the guide teeth will wear out, causing erratic rotation of the circle when adjusting the circle.

Adjusting wear plates Proceed as follows: The first adjustment to be done is the clearance between the wear plates and circle top race (vertical clearance).

To accomplish this, eliminate the excessive clearance betwen circle top race and guide wear plates, by removing shims.

NOTE: Shims removed as above should not be discarded, because they will possibly be used during fitting of the new plates to provide the specified clearance.

Check that the maximum clearance should not exceed 1.52 mm, except that this operation should be done on the three guides, one at a time, starting with the front guide (closest to the swing motor pinion).

After this adjustment, turn the circle 360o to check that its rotates freely.

Then, adjust clearance between the wear plates and circle inner race (radial clearance), as follows: With the vertical clearance adjusted, loosen guide attaching nuts and loosen the lock nut for the radial clearance adjusting bolts.

Locate the swing motor pinion such as to achieve an engaging position.

Make sure that the center line of the circle turn motor pinión, the center of the circle are aligned.

Supporting one of the sides of the referenced pinion tooth against the side of one circle tooth, act on the front guide radial clearance adjusting bolt to provide a 0.76 mm clearance between the non-supported side of the pinion engaged tooth and the circle tooth.

Note that during adjustment of the teeth clearance, the front guide wear plate should rest on the innner race of the circle.

After adjustment of the radial clearance of the front guide is completed and all nuts tightened, adjust the two rear guides to provide a maximum clearance of 0.76 mm between the inner circle race and the guide wear plates (curved), at the adjusting bolts of the wear plates.

BATTERIES LEFT HAND AND RIGHT HAND Replace

BATTERY ELECTROLYTE LEVEL These batteries are the "Service free" type, therefore they do not require adding water or electrolyte. Do not keep the lights on for a long period of time, with engine switched off or idling. Keep batteries clean, especially the top of the batteries.

During short stops preferable leave the engine idling, as every new startup uses up a lot of battery charge.

BATTERY VENT Keep battery vent caps clean. Ensure the vents on the top of the battery are not restricted.

CLEANING THE BATTERIES

Right side location of the battery (A)

Check regularly for any dirt, corrosion or damage to the batteries. Dirt if mixed with the electrolyte, will weaken the battery. Use water for cleaning.

Use a special battery cleaning product to prevent corrosion and oxidation of the battery terminals.

Left side location of the battery NOTE: This machine´s electrical system is 24 volts. Each battery is a 12 volt unit. |Prior to doing any servicing on the electrical system, disconnect the NEGATIVE (-) battery cable.

Do not run the engine with loose battery or alternator cables.

Prior to using an electrical welding machine, disconnect the alternator, instrument cluster and transmission control unit wires and switch off the master battery switch.

DO NOT use a steam cleaning machine or solvents to clean the alternator.

COME - HOME

COME-HOME is an emergency function, used in the event of transmission control module failure. If immediate replacement of the module is not possible, this functions enable the machine to be driven to a service shop for repairs.

Swith (8) located in the instrument cluster has three positions: front, neutral and reverse. For the system to function, switch off the machine, engage the parking brake and move the switch to neutral position.

Open the cover located on the operator´s cabe right hand side. This cover allows access to two grey connectors and one black connector.

COME - HOME ENGAGED Close the side cover, ensure the parking brake is engaged, and start the engine.

NOTE: After releasing the parking brake, select the direction of travel desired (forward-reverse) with the COME- HOME switch located in the instrument cluster.

If the COME-HOME switch is placed in the "forward" position, the system will select forward speed. If the COME-HOME switch is placed in the "reverse" position, the system will select 1st gear reverse.

If you must do any welding work on the machine, ensure the black connector is disconnected on the right side of the operator´s cab.
