Hydraulics — Work Hydraulics Troubleshooting

Lift and/or tilt functions too slow, inconsistent or jerky. Low engine speed.Increase engine speed. Hydraulic oil level is too low.Add hydraulic oil; check for leaks. See “Checking Hydraulic Oil Level” on page29.

Oil leaking past cylinder piston seals.See “Work Cylinder Leakage Test” on page124. Repair/ replace cylinder if required. Also see “Hydraulic Cylinder Disassembly/Assembly” on page141.

Hydraulic pump malfunction.Repair/replace hydraulic pump. Refer to flowcharts on page115 for more detailed hydraulic pump troubleshooting.

Lift arm does not maintain raised position with multi-purpose joystick centered (neutral).

Oil leading past lift cylinder seals.See “Work Cylinder Leakage Test” on page124. Repair/ replace cylinder if required. Also see “Hydraulic Cylinder Disassembly/Assembly” on page141.

Oil leaking past lift spool in control valve.

Repair/replace control valve. See “2-Spool Control Valve Removal” on page126 or “3Spool Control Valve Removal” on page128. Also refer to the parts manual for control valve parts information.

Leaking hydraulic hoses, tubes or fittings between control valve and cylinders.

Auxiliary hydraulics do not function.Spool in control valve not actuated or leaking.

Repair/replace as required.
