Avoid High-Pressure Fluids

Inspect hydraulic hoses periodically – at least once per year – for leakage, kinking, cuts, cracks, abrasion, blisters, corrosion, exposed wire braid or any other signs of wear or damage.

Replace worn or damaged hose assemblies immediately with John Deere approved replacement parts.

Escaping fluid under pressure can penetrate the skin causing serious injury.

Avoid the hazard by relieving pressure before disconnecting hydraulic or other lines. Tighten all connections before applying pressure.

Search for leaks with a piece of cardboard. Protect hands and body from high-pressure fluids.

If an accident occurs, see a doctor immediately. Any fluid injected into the skin must be surgically removed within a few hours or gangrene may result. Doctors unfamiliar

with this type of injury should reference a knowledgeable medical source. Such information is available in English from Deere & Company Medical Department in Moline, Illinois, U.S.A., by calling 1-800-822-8262 or +1 309-748-5636.

Falling while installing or removing electronic components mounted on equipment can cause serious injury. Use a ladder or platform to easily reach each mounting location.

Use sturdy and secure footholds and handholds. Do not install or remove components in wet or icy conditions.

If installing or servicing a RTK base station on a tower or other tall structure, use a certified climber.

If installing or servicing a global positioning receiver mast used on an implement, use proper lifting techniques and wear proper protective equipment. The mast is heavy and can be awkward to handle. Two people are required when mounting locations are not accessible from the ground or from a service platform.

Prepare Machine for Service NOTE: Contact Dealer Technical Assistance Center (DTAC) to request that the proper control unit software is associated with the machine. Provide the following information when entering a DTAC case:

• Machine Serial Number 1. Park machine on a flat, level surface.

2. Raise topper boom (A), engage the boom cylinder safety stop (B), and lower boom onto stop.

4. Lower base cutter to the safety stop.

5. Set park brake, shut OFF engine, and remove key.

6. Turn OFF battery disconnect switch.

5. Remove nuts (A) from the supplied lights and apply medium strength thread sealant on the screw threads.

6. Install lights to the bottom of the optical sensor bracket and retain using the previously removed nuts.

8. If applicable, install the supplied elevator optical sensor to the bottom of the optical sensor bracket, with the black connector (A) towards the front of machine.

31. Install the cover to the elevator optical sensor bracket (D) and retain using the supplied cap screws and nuts (E).

1. Install supplied tie band clip (A) to the sensor harness (B) and supplied bracket (C).

2. Apply medium strength thread sealant to threads on the supplied cap screws (D).

3. Install supplied sensor (E) to the bracket and retain with the supplied cap screws, washers, and nuts (D).

4. Remove cap screws (A) and move the hydraulic hoses away from the elevator frame and out of the way.

5. Remove cap screws, split washers, and flat washers (B). Retain the flat washers and discard the split washers and cap screws.

6. Remove cap screw and nut (C).

7. Remove bracket assembly (D).

8. Remove nut (A), washer (B), and bracket (C) from the sprocket (D). Discard bracket.

9. Measure in from the outside of the bracket the distance (A) and scribe a line.

10. Measure in from the outside of the bracket the distance (B) and scribe a line.

21. Align chain with sprocket and install the previously removed adjusting cap screw and nut (A) to sprocket assembly (B). Tighten until chain is snug with sprocket.

24. Align supplied harness bracket against the elevator frame (A), locate a mark, and drill holes (B) in existing harness bracket (C).

25. Install supplied harness bracket (D) and retain using supplied cap screws and nuts (E).

26. Install supplied tie band clamps (F) to the harness bracket.
