There are many variables that affect the sound level range, including machine configuration, condition and maintenance level of the machine, ground surface, operating environmental, duty cycles, ambient noise, and attachments.

Exposure to loud noise can cause impairment or loss of hearing.

Always wear hearing protection. Wear a suitable hearing protective device such as earmuffs or earplugs to protect against objectionable or uncomfortable loud noises.

Practice Safe Maintenance Understand service procedure before doing work. Keep area clean and dry.

Never lubricate, service, or adjust machine while it is moving. Keep hands, feet, and clothing away from power-driven parts. Disengage all power and operate controls to relieve pressure. Lower equipment to the ground. Stop the engine. Remove the key. Allow machine to cool.

Securely support any machine elements that must be raised for service work.

Keep all parts in good condition and properly installed.

Fix damage immediately. Replace worn or broken parts.

Remove any buildup of grease, oil, or debris.

On towed implements, disconnect wiring harnesses from tractor before servicing electrical system components or welding on machine.

Falling while cleaning or working at height can cause serious injury. Use a ladder or platform to easily reach each location. Use sturdy and secure footholds and handholds.

Avoid High-Pressure Fluids

Inspect hydraulic hoses periodically – at least once per year – for leakage, kinking, cuts, cracks, abrasion, blisters, corrosion, exposed wire braid or any other signs of wear or damage.

Replace worn or damaged hose assemblies immediately with John Deere approved replacement parts.

Escaping fluid under pressure can penetrate the skin causing serious injury.

Avoid the hazard by relieving pressure before disconnecting hydraulic or other lines. Tighten all connections before applying pressure.

Search for leaks with a piece of cardboard. Protect hands and body from high-pressure fluids.

If an accident occurs, see a doctor immediately. Any fluid injected into the skin must be surgically removed within a few hours or gangrene may result. Doctors unfamiliar

with this type of injury should reference a knowledgeable medical source. Such information is available in English from Deere & Company Medical Department in Moline, Illinois, U.S.A., by calling 1-800-822-8262 or +1 309-748-5636.

Chemicals, Including Pesticides in this section).

CAUTION: Spray solutions or vapors can be extremely dangerous. Treat all spray chemicals, solutions, and solution residues with great caution. DO NOT take chances. When in doubt, proceed as though contamination is present.

• Drain Solution Tank (see machine operator’s manual).

• Rinse wet system (see operator’s manual).

Keep spray material from contacting skin. If spray material contacts skin, wash off immediately with clean water and detergent, or follow manufacturers instructions for chemical used last.

Wear protective clothing, goggles, and gloves while attaching parts.

Before performing any service activity:

• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

Clean Vehicle of Hazardous Chemicals, Including Pesticides

CAUTION: During application of hazardous chemicals, including pesticides, residue can build up on the inside or outside of the vehicle.

Clean vehicle according to use instructions of hazardous chemical.

When exposed to hazardous chemicals, clean exterior and interior of vehicle daily to keep free of the accumulation of visible dirt and contamination.

1. Sweep or vacuum the floor of cab.

2. Clean headliners and inside cowlings of cab.

3. Wash entire exterior of vehicle.

IMPORTANT: Directing pressurized water at electronic/electrical components or connectors, bearings and hydraulic seals, fuel injection pumps or other sensitive parts and components may cause product malfunctions. Reduce pressure, and spray at a 45 to 90 degree angle.

4. Dispose of any wash water with hazardous concentrations of active or non-active ingredients according to published regulations or directives.

Use Proper Tools Use tools appropriate to the work. Makeshift tools and procedures can create safety hazards.

For loosening and tightening hardware, use the correct size tools. DO NOT use U.S. measurement tools on metric fasteners. Avoid bodily injury caused by slipping wrenches.

Use only service parts meeting John Deere specifications.

Work In Ventilated Area Engine exhaust fumes can cause sickness or death. If it is necessary to run an engine in an enclosed area, remove the exhaust fumes from the area with an exhaust pipe extension.

Basic Electrical Component Handling / Precautions For Vehicles Equipped With Computer Controlled Systems Electrical Precautions To Take: Never disconnect the batteries while the key switch is “ON”. Why: This can cause electrical voltage spikes that can damage electronic components.

Do not connect jumper cables while the key switch is on.

Why: This can cause electrical voltage spikes that can damage electronic components.

Disconnect batteries prior to recharging (if possible). Why: Electrical loads in the system can slow the recharging process. Battery chargers can cause electrical voltage spikes that can damage electronic components.

Never jump start the machine with a voltage higher than the machine is designed to operate on. Why: This can damage electronic components.

Do not connect or disconnect electrical connectors while the key switch is on or the machine is running. Why: This can cause computer system errors from interrupting a computer program while it is running and electrical voltage spikes that are produced can damage electronic components.

Do not apply power or ground to any component as a test unless specifically instructed to do so. Why: Connecting the wrong voltage to the wrong point of an electronic system can cause electronic component failures.

When welding on the machine, make sure to connect ground lead to the parts being welded. For maximum protection, disconnect all electronic controller connectors before welding. Why: High currents associated with welding can damage wiring harnesses that are involved in the ground path. Welding can also cause electrical voltage spikes that can damage electronic components.

Prevent falls by facing the machine when getting on and off. Maintain 3-point contact with steps, handholds, and handrails.

Use extra care when mud, snow, or moisture present slippery conditions. Keep steps clean and free of grease or oil. Never jump when exiting machine. Never mount or dismount a moving machine.

Falling while installing or removing electronic components mounted on equipment can cause serious injury. Use a ladder or platform to easily reach each mounting location.

Use sturdy and secure footholds and handholds. Do not install or remove components in wet or icy conditions.

If installing or servicing a RTK base station on a tower or other tall structure, use a certified climber.

If installing or servicing a global positioning receiver mast used on an implement, use proper lifting techniques and wear proper protective equipment. The mast is heavy and can be awkward to handle. Two people are required when mounting locations are not accessible from the ground or from a service platform.

16. If necessary install the supplied display connector to the harness using the following procedure. a. Remove wires one at a time from the connector using a terminal removal tool. Mark wires with their corresponding pin numbers as they are removed. b. Insert wires into the supplied connector in the same numbered ports from which they were removed.

Update GreenStar™ Display Downloading Software Updates NOTE: 2630 displays will need software version 3.30.1232 or later for this system to operate.

Software updates are periodically released for GreenStar™ displays and other GreenStar™ system components to provide enhancements and performance improvements. These updates are managed by a desktop application called GreenStar LiveUpdate, which can be downloaded from www.StellarSupport.com. Once installed on your computer, GreenStar™ LiveUpdate will download the most recent update, copy that update to your USB drive, and notify you when future updates are available.

Software updates for GreenStar™ system components such as StarFire™ Receivers, AutoTrac™ Universal, GreenStar™ Rate Controller, etc. are also downloaded via LiveUpdate and copied to the USB drive along with the display update. These components can be updated via the display, if they are connected to the display when the USB drive is inserted.

NOTE: It is recommended to clean all files off the USB drive before copying the software update files to it. Do NOT have software update files for a different display model on the USB drive.

5. The display will check the software versions of the all the connected components against the versions on the USB drive and a Software Update message will appear listing all of the components that have new versions available on the USB drive.

- Select the green arrow to Accept the software update.

- Select the button with 3 lines to Cancel the update.

The Software Update message will be available again the next time the USB drive is inserted.

IMPORTANT: Do not turn off power or remove USB drive while display is reprogramming.

Doing so can damage display and put software in an irrecoverable state.

NOTE: The display will not be available for use during software updates. Updating the display and other controllers may take an hour or more.

2. Turn the machine ignition to the run position.

3. Insert the USB drive into the display.

4. A USB Device Detected message appears if the display recognizes the USB drive. Read and Accept it.

Software Update

NOTE: The display will reboot itself during the update.

6. A message stating The Update Was Successfully Installed appears when the update is complete.

7. Remove the USB drive.

NOTE: The display update files will be copied to the display, but the install files for the other system components will not.

NOTE: If this message is not displayed, download and copy the software update to the USB drive again.
