Operatingconditions
Intendeduse
Theelectrohydrauliccontrolunitisexclusivelyconstructedand manufacturedasacomponentofthecontrol systemfor underground systems.Itmayonlybeusedinconjunctionwithacontrol systemsuitableforuse underground. Onlyusethecontrolunitasintended.

PresstheEMERGENCYSTOPswitchimmediately,intheeventof faultsorirregularitiesinoperation.Notifyyoursupervisorofanypeculiarity,sothatnecessaryactioncanbetakenimmediately.
Neverreachintoorenterareasbetweenmachinecomponents whichcanmove.
Storageandtransport
Neverstorematerialsofanykindinthetravelwayorinyourworkingarea.
Toavoidhinderingorendangeringthefacecrew,immediatelyremoveanyfaultycomponentsfromtheface.
Neverstorefaultypartswithgoodparts.Thiswayyoucanavoid inadvertentreinstallationofthesefaultycomponentssomewhere else.Havethesefaultycomponentsrepaired.
Observetheprescribedstorageperiodsandthestorageinstructions.
Installation
Mechanicallysecureallmovingpartsbeforeyoudepressurizethe hydraulicsystem.
Asamatterofprinciple,onlyworkondepressurizedhydraulic systems.
Makesurethatnodirtorimpuritiescangetintothehydraulic system.
Onlyremovetheprotectivecapsfromtheconnectorsimmediately beforeinstallingthecontrolunit.
Operation
Checkthatallprotectivedevicesareonthemachineandarein goodworkingorder.
Makesurethatnooneisstandinginthemovementrangeofthe machinebeingdriven.
Watchthemachine'srangeofmotionsothatpotentialhazardscan berecognizedintimeandpreventativeactioncanbetaken.
Maintenance
Informthesupervisorypersonnelandthefacecrewaboutmaintenanceandrepairwork.Providethemwithinformationonthe intendedworkanditsprobableduration.
Keepyourworkingareacleartoavoiddangertoyourselfandother persons.
Refitanyprotectivedevicesremovedimmediatelyaftercompletion ofworkandcheckthattheyfunctionproperly.
Makesurethatthespecifiedmaintenanceandinspectionintervals areobserved;seealsochapter5.
Useonlysparepartswhichconformtothespecifiedtechnicalrequirements.ThisisbestensuredbyusingoriginalCaterpillarspare parts.
Pleaserefertothesparepartsfolderfortheordernumbers.
Donotmakeanymodificationsorchanges.Modificationsand changesmustbeapprovedbyCaterpillar.
Neverusethecontrolunitwithoutafiltercartridge.Ifthefilteris missingorifitisnotfineenough,thiscanleadtomalfunctionsand damagetothecontrolunit.
Hydraulicsystem
Avoiddirectcontactbetweenyourskinandhydraulicfluids. Hydraulicfluidwhichpenetratestheskincancauseseriousinfections.
Neverusehydraulicfluidsforbackflushingorcleaning.Hydraulic fluidsareveryharmfultoyourhealth.
Onlypersonswhohaveandcandemonstratespecialknowledgeof hydraulicsareallowedtoworkonthehydraulicsystem.
Useonlyhydraulichosesapprovedfortheprevailingpressures.
Donotuseanyhydraulichoseswithdamagedconnectorsorworn O-rings.
Replacehydraulichosesonlywithhydraulichosesofthesameor higherquality.
