TILT CYLINDER
4. Check steer linkage for proper mounting and working condition. Make sure all cotter keys are present and in good condition.
5. Check the steer cylinder piston rod for scratches or pitting that may cause damage to the cylinder packing. Check cylinder packing for leakage due to damage.
6.. Check hydraulic hoses for proper routing or any damage that could cause leakage.
Also check hydraulic fittings for tightness.
DRIVE MOTO,RS:
1. Refer to GROUP 38, Section 3 for proper pro- cedure to jack and block truck wheels up off floor.
2. With truck already blocked up, disconnect battery, loosen screw and remove brush cover plate from end of drive motor, under the truck. Using moisture-free compressed air, blow off inside of motor around commutator and brushes.
CAUTION REDUCE AIR PRESSURE BELOW 30 PSI, WEAR ! SAFETY GLASSES AND PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT P WHEN: CLEANING WITH COMPRESSED AIR. Fig. 19445
Fig. 19465
3. Remove brush from brush holder and inspect the brushes and commutator for any unusual wear, arcing, pitting, etc. Refer to GROUP 16, Section 1 for proper condition. If brushes require replacement, refer to Overhaul Manual OH-500, GROUP 16, Section 25 for proper procedure.
4. If brushes and commutator are wearing properly, install brush cover, back on the drive motor and tighten screw.
5. Check crimp area of all cable ends. There should not be any looseness or corrosion at this point. Also check cable for any damage to insulation or wire itself. If damaged, remove all the damaged area and and install new end. If needed, replace the entire cable.
6. Check tightness of mounting bolts for proper torque of [73-78 N'm] or 53-57 lb. ft. Also inspect motor housing for any damage that could cause failure. Fig. 19227
Fig. 17727
7. Check the surface of brake discs. Ihey should be free from scratches and grooves. If damage is present, check pad thickness for possible replacement. Refer to Overhaul Manual OH-‘500, GROUP 23, Section 17.
8. Check all other mounting bolts. Ihey should be tight. If loose, tighten them. Refer to GROUP 40, Section 5 for torque specifications. Fig. 19269
