STEERING LlNKAGE 26. - STEER AXLE, PUMP d LINES

2. Remove pylon cover from the front of the pylon.

3. Check brake reservoir for proper amount of fluid by holding reservoir level. Full level is at the top mark of reservoir.

Refer to GROUP 40, Section 4 for specified fluid.

4. Check all wire connections for being properly positioned and for firm contact.

Also check all wire leads for any damage or cracked insulation.

5. Inspect all hydraulic lines for cuts, leaks and all fittings for tightness. Fig. 84M469

FLOORBOARD REMOVED:

1. Release battery cover latch then lift off cov.er and rest it against the rear over- head guard legs.

2. Lift up back edge of floorboard and remove it from the truck.

3. Inspect roller on accelerator plunger for excessive wear and to be sure it turns freely. Also check plunger for free move- ment; wiper for damage; and plunger for any scratches or nicks that would cause wiper damage.

4. Depress brake pedal by hand to check free play or any binding. If pedal does not move freely, lubricate pivot pin and work pedal again. Adjust pedal with stop screw to achieve free pedal play of (l,O-3,0 mm) .040-.118 in.

Brakes are hydraulic disc. They are self adjusting for the life of the linings. Fig. 20287

5. Spin off hydraulic oil filter and replace with a new one. Also check tightness of hose fittings at filter adaptor.

6. Inspect all hydraulic hoses and fittings between sump tank and pumps. Fig. 84M470

7. Check sump tank oil level with the upright completely lowered. The oil level should be to the full mark. Add oil as needed. Fig. 84M471

8. Inspect the tilt cylinder base mounting pins. They should move freely and not show excessive wear. Check to make sure there are proper amount of quick-disconnect pins in each mounting pin. Fig. 84M472

9. Check tightness of hydraulic lines at each tilt cylinder.

PUMP MOTORS:

l* Disconnect the battery. Remove the bolt from the mount ing bracke t. Lift the pump from its opera ting posit ion.

2:. Check all cable connections to be sure they are tight.

3. Check end crimp of all motor cables. They should be tight and show no burns or corrosion. Fig. 84M474
