Starting the engine

☞ Run through the “Start-up checklist” on page 3-9 ☞ Switch on the battery master switch – see Battery master switch (option) on page 3-45 ☞ Adjust steering wheel position ➥ – see Steering column height and angle adjustment on page 3-22 ☞ Adjust the mirrors ☞ Adjust the correct seat position ➥ – see Seat on page 3-41
Important! All controls must be within easy reach. You must be able to move the brake and accelerator pedals to their limit positions!
☞ Fasten your seat belt ☞ Make sure • the parking brake (switch fig. 30/98) is applied and that the • control lever (fig. 24/12) for the telescopic boom is in neutral General
Important! The motor will not start unless the parking brake is applied • – see Parking brake on page 3-25 • The starter cannot be actuated if the engine is already running (start repeat interlock) • Do not run the starter for more than 10 seconds • Wait for about 1 minute to let the battery recover before trying again
☞ The engine cannot be started by tow starting the machine, as there is no driving connection between the engine and the gearbox (e.g. cardan shaft) when the engine is switched off ➥ – see Towing and transporting the machine on page 3-46
Important! If the machine is used for extended periods at outside temperatures under –10 °C, we recommend retrofitting the machine with a fuel and/or engine oil preheater (option)
