1.1.1 General instructions This Operator's Manual is the original Operator's Manual. It will be referred to merely as the Operator's Manual below.

This Operator's Manual is part of the machine. It must be stored at a suitable place and be accessible for driving and operating personnel at any time.

All users of this machine must have read and understood this Operator's Manual before operating the machine.

Please bear in mind that the CLAAS harvesting machine will also be referred to as machine in the chapters below.

Have the front attachment maintenance and regular inspections carried out by a qualified specialist workshop as well, e.g. a CLAAS Service Partner.

Failure to perform maintenance or incorrect operation lead to a reduction in performance and a loss of time.

2.1.1 Particularly important The information provided in this Operator's Manual must be read and observed by all persons concerned with the operation, maintenance and inspection of this machine in order to avoid hazards.

Read in particular the sections „Safety“, „Preparing the machine“ and „Operation“ in the Operator's Manual of the machine.

The use of spare parts, accessories and ancillary equipment not originally manufactured by CLAAS and not checked and approved by CLAAS can change the specified design characteristics of the CLAAS machine or can detract from its functional performance, with a possible adverse effect on the active and/or passive operational safety of the machine and its occupational safety standards (accident prevention).

CLAAS are in no way liable for any damage caused through the use of other than original or approved CLAAS parts, accessories and ancillary equipment.

2.1.2 Qualification of drivers and maintenance personnel Only people who meet the following requirements may be commissioned with operating or performing work on the machine. They must: – Have reached the legal minimum age – Be physically and mentally fit and – Have the appropriate skills and training The machine operator is responsible for this. All relevant country-specific regulations must also be observed.

Testing, adjustment and repair work may only be performed by authorised specialist personnel.

2.1.3 Intended use The CLAAS swather is designed exclusively for professional use according to recognized rules of agricultural practice in agricultural harvesting operations of forage plants.

The swather is an agricultural machine that is hitched to a tractor approved/released by the manufacturer and suitable and intended for swathing forage plants on fields while travelling. Forage plants include crops such as grass, lucerne and cereal straw.

The swather swathes previously mowed or turned and down forage plants on the field, using a swathing unit.

The forage plants are put down in the middle of or laterally next to the swather for further processing.

When travelling on public roads, the swather can be hitched to the rear of a tractor approved/released by the manufacturer and carried along, depending on the provisions of the applicable road vehicle regulations.

This machine may be operated, serviced and repaired only by persons familiar with the machine and acquainted with the function-related hazards involved in handling the machine (accident prevention).

The intended use also includes compliance with the information provided in the Operator's Manual and respecting the operational, maintenance and repair conditions specified by the manufacturer.

The relevant accident prevention regulations as well as the other generally recognised safety-related, occupational medicine and road traffic rules shall be respected by both the user and the owner.

Any use beyond the above shall be considered as "contrary to the intended use"; the manufacturer will not be liable for damage resulting from such misuse, but instead the user will be solely responsible.

2.1.4 Reasonably foreseeable misuse Machine use outside of the intended use is a use not provided for by the machine manufacturer and therefore constitutes a misuse in the sense of the Machinery Directive. The manufacturer will not be liable for damage resulting from such misuse, but instead the user will be solely responsible.

Such misuse of the CLAAS swather includes: • Performing adjustment, cleaning and Maintenance work contrary to the information provided in the Operator's Manual • Performing troubleshooting and service while drives and/or the diesel engine are running • Failure to observe warnings on the machine and in the Operator's Manual • Performing service and repairs by personnel that is not trained for such tasks • Unauthorised modifications on the machine • Fitting of unallowed / non-approved accessories • Use of non-original CLAAS spare parts • Stationary use • Use for swathing goods which are not referred to as forage plants, e.g. rubbish • Use for aerating • Transporting of persons • Transporting of goods

2.1.5 Safety and accident prevention regulations • In addition to the instructions contained in this operator's manual, also observe the general safety and accident preventive regulations.

• Always check the operating and road safety of the machine before using it.

• Before starting work, familiarise yourself with all the controls and instruments and their functions.

• Put the machine into operation only when all safety devices have been fitted and are in their protective position.

• Always comply with local traffic regulations when driving on public roads.

• Carry out work beneath the raised machine only if machine is securely supported.

• Carry out maintenance and cleaning work as well as repairs only with the drive OFF and the engine OFF. - Remove ignition key.

- No hydraulic line may be pressurised.

- The hydraulic control units of all hydraulic valves must be in the neutral position.

- Disconnect the battery isolating switch.

• Danger of injury when fitting the machine to the tractor.

• No person must ever be allowed between the tractor and the machine unless the parking brake is applied and/or the wheels are chocked so that the vehicle can not start to move on its own.

• Before starting, check if the machine carries any loose parts. Parts that may get lost while travelling must be secured or covered up.

• Check the area around the machine before starting and before putting the machine into operation (children!). Ensure adequate visibility.

• When working with the PTO shaft, no persons are allowed near the rotating PTO shaft or universal drive shaft.

• No persons are allowed in the working range and in the hazard range.

• Do not stand in the rotation and slewing range of the machine.

• All powered elements (e.g. by hydraulic means) involve pinch and shear points.

• Actuators (ropes, chains, linkages etc.) of remoteactuated units must be arranged so that they will not start any unintended movements in any transport and working positions.

• Secure the machine before leaving the tractor.

Lower the implements completely! Stop the engine and remove the ignition key.

• Clothing worn by the operator must be closefitting. Avoid wearing loose jackets, shirts or ties.

• Use suitable tools and gloves when replacing working tools.

• Prevent fires by keeping the machine clean.

• The warning and instruction signs placed on the cutterbar provide important recommendations for safe operation. These instructions involve your safety – observe them at all times.

• Replace any damaged and illegible safety decals immediately.

• When parts with safety decals are replaced, ensure that the suitable decals are fitted to the new parts.

• When the sound pressure level at the ear of the operator exceeds 85 dB (A), hearing protectors must be worn.

2.1.6 First aid measures In the event of contact with substances hazardous to the health as a result of: Breathing in – Give the person fresh air and consult a doctor depending on his or her symptoms.

– Remove the person from the danger area.

Contact with the eyes – Rinse the eyes thoroughly with large amounts of water for several minutes. Consult a doctor if required.

Contact with the skin – Wash thoroughly with large amounts of water and soap; remove contaminated, saturated clothing immediately; consult a doctor in the event of skin irritation (reddening, etc.).

Swallowing – Do not induce vomiting; consult a doctor immediately.

– Work on the hydraulic system may only be carried out by authorised specialist workshops.

– Check hoses regularly.

– Check for leaks with a piece of wood or cardboard.

– Ensure that the flow of oil is not diverted towards the body.

– Replace damaged hoses.

– Replace hoses at the latest 6 years after the date of manufacture.

Even a pin prick sized hole can lead to serious injuries.

– Please seek medical advice immediately following penetration of hydraulic liquids into the skin or eyes.

2.2.1 Safety decals The danger zones on a machine which cannot be eliminated by design or protective measures are identified by safety decals. These safety decals help to alert persons to hazards which can cause personal injury.

The safety decals consist of two components: • Part 1 shows the risk of injury in a warning triangle.

• Part 2 shows how injury and accidents can be prevented by appropriate actions.

The pictures on the safety decals consist of generally understandable pictograms. As far as possible, the safety decals must be located in close proximity to the hazardous area.

The original CLAAS safety decals are equipped with the CLAAS part number and the date of manufacture.

The positioning and meanings of the safety decals is explained below: – When ordering, please use the 10-digit CLAAS part number given ahead of every safety decal, – The safety decal number given in ( ) shows the correct position of the safety decals in the associated picture, – followed by an explanation of the safety decal graphics in text form.

The Liner 470 T / 350 T is a swather with a swathing rotor (5) that deposits a swath on the left side.

The swathing rotor (5) is driven by the tractor PTO shaft. The tine arms (1) have spring tines (2) fitted to them which move vertically above the ground and transport the crop to the left side. A cam track control unit controls the spring tines (2) and the crop is deposited next to the windrowing rubber (3).

The swathing rotor can adapt to uneven ground in cross and longitudinal direction relative to the direction of travel with its chassis (4).

9.1.1 Removal from service and disposal When the end of the useful life of the machine or its components is reached and they are surrendered for scrap, the components must be disposed of properly.

The regulations of the local authorities responsible must be complied with.

The operating materials in the machine require special disposal methods and must not reach the environment. More information regarding disposal can be obtained from the local authorities responsible, the CLAAS specialist workshop or the CLAAS service department.

– Products with the symbol (1) at the end of their service life may not be disposed of with domestic waste.

– Materials used with the symbol (2) should be recycled as labelled.

– Recycle or reuse packaging material, do not dispose of it with domestic waste.

– Recycle or reuse plastics that are labelled with specifications for a material such as PP TV 20; do not dispose of them with domestic waste.

– Dead batteries contain hazardous substances and must be taken back by the vendor, disposed of correctly or taken to a collection point. Do not dispose of dead batteries with domestic waste.

– Treat operating materials such as oils, hydraulic fluids, brake fluids and fuel as hazardous waste and dispose of them correctly.

– Only have refrigerants disposed of by specialist companies with qualified personnel and the required technical equipment. Refrigerants must never be released into the atmosphere. Have refrigerants disposed of by a CLAAS specialist workshop. Pay attention to country-specific regulations.

– Comply with the regulations of the local authorities responsible.
