1.1.1 How to use this manual This manual shows you how to assembly the parts listed in the Package List section.

In the following chapters, the cutterbar is referred to as a front attachment. The combine harvester / forage harvester is referred to as the machine.

Text and pictures are kept neutral if possible.

Differences are indicated using picture headings or text notes.

In the assembly descriptions, for better clarification, existing parts are designated using letters and new parts are designated using numbers.

Directions such as front, back, right and left are always relative to the direction of travel.

Technical data, dimensions and weights are given as an indication only. We reserve the right to make changes in response to technical development and errors.

– Remove the old cable ring from the cable bushing.

– Feed the wiring loom (1) from the central terminal compartment to the bottom.

– Insert the cable ring of the wiring loom at the cable bushing.

– Fasten wiring loom (1) with clamp (6) and bolt (9).

The air duct (L) is fixed using clamps.

If necessary, use a screwdriver to help with this.

– Drill a Ø 30 mm hole on the front right-hand side of the central terminal compartment housing (see arrow).

The distance between the centre of the hole to the front and to the bottom should be approx. 50 mm.

– Deburr the hole.

– At the bottom of the right side of the air duct (L), drill a Ø 30 mm hole into the air duct.

The distance (X) from the lower edge to the hole of the centre shall be about 80 mm.

The distance (Y) from the top edge to the hole of the centre shall be about 390 mm.

Dimension (Z) = around 200 mm – Slide the wiring loom (26) through the top hole of the air duct (L).

– Install the air duct (L) in the operator's platform.

– Slide on the cable ring (7) at the bottom end of the wiring loom (26).

– Lay the cable end into the central terminal compartment housing.

– Connect the connector (E) of wiring loom (1) to module (4) and arrest it (see arrow).

Place the module (4) on the bottom of the central terminal compartment without fixing it.

- Use the dimensions in the drawing or if gauge (L) is available, insert the straight lug in the slotted hole (A) and place it in parallel with edge (K).

- Drill through the two holes (C) in the gauge (L) with a 5 mm drill and tap out using a M 6 tap.

Type 492: – On the lever (H) drill a hole (D, Ø 5 mm), on a diagonal line from the middle of bolt (S) to the screw fitting hole (T).

The dimension (X) from the middle of bolt (S) to the hole to be drilled (D) must be 90 mm.

– Cut a M 6 thread into hole (D).

Important: The plug and the tip of the sensor flange must face forward.

– Unlock threaded bolt from the connecting rod (14) and remove from the ball joint.

– Screw in the threaded bolt (B) at the lever (H).

- Fit any safety features previously removed.

- Put the tools used back into place.

- Check the retrofitted and/or removed electric connections.

6.1.1 CLAAS COMMUNICATOR Using the yield meter, the COMMUNICATOR (1) determines the throughput volume by detecting the speeds and the deflection of the compression rollers.

The COMMUNICATOR provides the operator with data about current work records, such as

The vehicle information display automatically appears after switching on the ignition. The harvest display appears when the chopper unit of the machine is engaged.

6.3.4 Work records menu Menu

The number of the selected work record is displayed on the display. A total of 10 work records is available.

In empty work records, the crop value is "unknown". The area, yield and consumption values are 0.

When no empty work order is available any more, an existing work order must be deleted.

The name of the customer can be entered using the incremental sensor.

The selected letter is written after pressing the incremental sensor.

Previous position.

Next position.

Delete previous position.

Select higher work record.

Select lower work record.

START

Start the work record.

In order to start a work record, any work orders that may still be active must be stopped. The message "Status: stopped" must appear in the work record menu.

The selected work record starts. Yield measuring starts. The status changes to "started". The starting time is shown.

STOP

Stops the work record.

The selected work record is stopped. Yield measuring for this work record is stopped. The work record status changes to "stopped". The stopping time is shown.

The stopped work record can be restarted if desired. The new yield data are then added to the counters available at the time the work record was stopped.

Printing

Printing of yield data.

For printing, a printer must be connected and the selected work record must be stopped.

6.3.5 Test-weighing menu Menu

Operation

Description Test-weighing menu Select crop and enter its litre weight: • Crop The display shows the available kinds of crop, i.e. maize and grass.

Litre weight guideline values are displayed for three different degrees of moisture each.

If the desired crop is not included in the list, select "unknown" crop.

• Litre weight [ g / l ] = Litre weight of crop Precise yield measuring requires exact determination and entry of the litre weight.

The litre weight displayed in the test weighing menu must therefore be checked by a comparative measurement (start test weighing procedure) and corrected if necessary.

• Test-weighing = Status display on the process of test-weighing To achieve maximum accuracy in yield measuring, repeat testweighing on every field and for each crop.

To achieve a correct measuring value, perform test-weighing in the middle of the crop and not at the edge of the field.

• Measured [ t ] = Crop yield as measured by YIELD METER • Weighed [ t ] = Crop yield as obtained by weighing The correction of the weight measured by the YIELD METER applies retroactively as from the beginning of the work record.

The following data is recalculated: - Daily and total working hours counter.

- Yield data of started work record in the harvest display menu.

- Work records.

• Calibration factor = Litre weight of crop To achieve maximum accuracy in yield measuring, we recommend correcting changes in the crop using the litre weight instead of the calibration factor.

The manual change of the calibration factor immediately enters into the calculation of yield data without being retroactive.

START

Start test-weighing.

The display reads "started" behind the test-weighing menu item.

– Unload one trailer load from the middle of the field.

Stop test-weighing.

The display reads "stopped" behind the test-weighing menu item.

The weight determined by the YIELD METER is displayed behind the "Measured" and "Weighed" menu items.

– Weight the trailer load in order to compare the two values.

– If required, correct the displayed "Weighed" weight.

The correction of the weight determined by the YIELD METER applies retroactively as from the beginning of the work record. The corresponding counters of the started work record are recalculated.

The display shows the calibration factor determined by the YIELD METER. The word "corrected" appears behind the "Test weighing:" menu item.

Litre weight +10

Litre weight -10

Increases or decreased the litre weight by 10 grams/litre [ g / l ].

When the crop changes, quick adaptation of the litre weight can be achieved.

If e.g. the crop is clearly drier at the edge of the field than in the middle, the litre weight can be temporarily reduced at the edge of the field while harvesting. When the crop gets more moist again, a quick increase of the litre weight is possible.

6.4.1 Determining and setting the calibration dimension Note!

The calibration dimension must be newly determined and set at least upon putting the COMMUNICATOR into operation for the first time and after replacing of the potentiometer.

– Determine the calibration dimension (X) between the centre of the grease nipple and the scraper bar.

Guideline values: JAGUAR Type 492 = 103 mm JAGUAR Type 493 = 99 mm X

6.4.2 Setting the response threshold The response threshold sets the compression roller deflection from which yield measuring starts.

The higher the response threshold is set, the more crop must flow between the compression rollers for starting yield measuring.

When the bar (1) goes up to the arrows (2) or even beyond them, the response threshold has been reached and yield measuring is active.

6.4.3 Learning the zero gap Using the Learning the zero gap function, the potentiometer learns the end position of the compression rollers, i.e. the position of the rollers when throughput is zero and roller deflection is zero. Successful learning of the zero gap is a must for correct yield measuring.

To learn the zero gap, the following preconditions must be met:

• the feeder is empty, • the machine is standing still and • the rubber cushions (1) are free of deposits.

Perform learning of the zero gap at the beginning of each harvesting operation.

Note!

The potentiometer values determined during the learning process may change during a working day since the rubber cushions (1) on which the rollers rest expand.

– Repeat the learning process after one hour of operation.

Call up the calibration menu.

Start learning the zero gap by means of key (1).

After the learning process, the display automatically changes back to the calibration menu.

If the learning process was not successful, the display reads "Zero gap learning: Fault".

If the learning process is not successful: – Check if the potentiometer is correctly connected and functional.

– Remove cause of fault.

– Repeat learning process.

Using the arrows (1), the correct setting of the zero gap can be checked.

To this end, check the response threshold whenever no yield measuring should be made, e.g. when turning.

When the bar (2) goes beyond the arrows (1), the zero gap must be relearned.
