This guide will provide you with the instructions for use and maintenance which must be applied to obtain the best performance from your frontal loader.

Before using the tractor for the first time, read the user's manual and observe the general safety instructions!

This document is not to be considered as contractual.

CLAAS, anxious to continue the technical development of their products, in particular reserve the right to change, without notice and at any time, the details contained in this manual.

If you are still unsure about any points, the technicians of the CLAAS network will be pleased to give you any additional information you may require.

The description of the different models contained in this manual was established from technical characteristics known at the time of writing the document. The manual contains all existing equipment (standard or optional) for these models, and their presence in the tractor depends on the version and options chosen and on the country of sale.

Important: Failure to observe the instructions for use and maintenance as described in this manual definitively excludes any possibility of recourse to the CLAAS guarantee system.

The indication and warning plaques fixed to your frontal loader provide important information relating to possible risks during use. Respect for these instructions is a guarantee of your safety!

Appropriate use This frontal loader has been designed to be used exclusively for normal agricultural work (appropriate use).

Any use other than that defined above will be considered as inappropriate and will release the manufacturer from any liability in the event of damage or injury; the user alone will bear the risks resulting from such misuse.

Appropriate use also supposes the observance of the operating, maintenance and repair regulations laid down by the manufacturer.

This frontal loader must be used, maintained and repaired only by persons with a thorough knowledge of the equipment and aware of the possible risks.

Specific accident prevention instructions must be observed as well as general rules concerning technical safety, health and safety regulations and the highway code.

The manufacturer declines all responsibility for any damage resulting from any modification made to the frontal loader without their approval.

CERTIFICATE OF COMPLIANCE CLAAS frontal loaders are in conformity with the essential requirements in the machine directive.

In conformity with the standard EN 12525, the commands to activate the frontal loader and the tools must be in "maintained action" mode with the exception of the floating position which may be maintained in its position by notching.

SAFETY FOREWORD The CLAAS frontal loaders have been designed and manufactured to provide you with a maximum amount of services over many years. They are designed to provide the most comfortable and safe working conditions.

A frontal loader must never be fitted on the rollbar tractor if the tractor does not have a protective system against falling objects.

However, accidents can easily happen in agricultural work. It is important to know the dangers and how to avoid them.

We respectively draw your attention to certain aspects that merit constant attention (non exhaustive list).

PRECAUTIONS BEFORE STARTING Caution is the best guarantee against any risk of accident.

The driver must be fully familiar with the frontal loader and must understand all the controls, their position and their purpose. This manual must be read carefully.

The driver's position must be clean.

Before starting the engine, make sure that all controls are in the neutral position and that the single lever is locked.

Do not start work if the frontal loader is not working properly.

If the frontal loader is used by anybody other than the owner, he must be given all explanations required to allow him to work safely.

FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH RULES FOR SAFETY AND USE Any violation of the safety seals will invalidate any claims for liability against CLAAS for the entire delivery.

Any assembly of the CLAAS frontal loader over and above the recommendations of the CLAAF rate in force at the date of purchase shall result in the annulment of the CLAAS guarantee for the entire delivery.

Any modification of a part of the CLAAS delivery, or use of a tool or element installed on the frontal loader not originating from CLAAS, shall result in the annulment of the CLAAS guarantee for the entire delivery.

Do not modify your frontal loader or subject it to modification by a third party without obtaining prior written permission from CLAAS. Failure to comply with these rules may make your frontal loader dangerous. In the event of damage or injury, CLAAS's liability may not be invoked.

The guarantee ceases immediately if the standards, the instructions or the maintenance of the frontal loader given in this assembly notice document and instructions for use are not respected.

Use only spart parts and accessories that are in conformity with CLAAS recommendations.

CONDITION OF THE FRONTAL LOADER Maintaining the frontal loader in the best possible condition, by carrying out all routine maintenance (lubrication, adjustments and thorough cleaning) will allow it to be used in the safest and most profitable way.

Check the following items first: – Hydraulic system: Check the condition of the system (unions, pipes, hoses), particularly the hoses supplying the jacks.

– Electrical system: Check the condition of the electrical system (batteries, wiring).

– High temperature components: Check that airborne particles such as straw, grass, wood chips etc., do not accumulate in high temperature areas. Clear debris from around the engine and the exhaust system. For tools attached to the front or the side of the tractor, inspect and clean the areas around the attachments for the various supports.

Check periodically for the presence of the safety pins and bolts; do not replace them with any other object.

Only fit genuine CLAAS parts. The CLAAS network is at your disposal for any parts or products required to keep your tractor in perfect working order.

ADJUSTMENT OR MAINTENANCE REPAIRS Only carry out operations well within your capabilities. A number of simple adjustments are described in the manual (clutch and brake free travel, etc.). Never attempt to work on your tractor unless you have perfectly understood the procedure and have all the basic equipment required.

Special equipment is required to remove or install major components (of the frontal loader); this equipment represents the only guarantee of safe working conditions and successful repair.

The CLAAS network is at your disposal for all this work. It has the approved special tooling, the skills required and genuine CLAAS parts. If you have any doubts at all, call in your CLAAS agent.

HYDRAULICS The hydraulic circuit of the frontal loader is designed to bear a maximum service pressure of 200 bar.

Never modify the connection of hydraulic hoses.

ROAD USE - USE FOR TRANSPORT Transporting or lifting persons using the frontal loader is strictly forbidden.

Limit any movement with a raised load. The tractor may become unbalanced.

Never leave the tractor with a raised load.

OPERATION Important: - Use the CLAAS frontal loader without the additional weights of the tractor (they may interfere with the movement).

- Position the front linkage arms in the "Road" position.

Important: Each tool has been designed for a specific use and has its own resistance limits.

Important: Land clearing and stump removal are forbidden. They are not within the scope of the CLAAS frontal loader.

GENERAL RULE As a general rule, only use tools that are in a good condition and that are adapted to the frontal loaders and to the work to be undertaken.

AXLE LOAD The load permitted on the axle must not exceed the load specified by the manufacturer of the tractor.

Consult your CLAAS approved repairer.

DRIVING The use of controls that set the frontal loader in motion when the driver is not controlling the lever is forbidden and will place the equipment outside standard limits.

Important: Use the motivity of the tractor to penetrate into the material rather than momentum which subjects the frontal loader and the tractor to substantial constraints.

Important: Do not stress the hydraulic elements when the load is too substantial and when the jacks are at the end of their stroke.

N.B.: Work with flexibility and wisely.

Control the frontal loader from the driver's seat only.

Do not leave the seat without having first ensured that no movement of the controls will occur.

Remove any person from the frontal loader's area of operation.

Pay attention to electrical and overhead power lines when manoeuvring the frontal loader in raised position.

After using the frontal loader, park the tractor with the frontal loader lowered to the ground.

UNHITCHING OF THE FRONTAL LOADER This operation must be carried out by the driver who when leaving his seat will prevent any movement of the tractor.

N.B.: Prolonged exposure to the sun increases the oil temperature, which may result in involuntary movement of the frontal loader.

N.B.: The frontal loader must always be linked to a (1) tool in order to unhitch it.

• Position the tractor on a flat horizontal surface.

• Set the (1) tool flat on the ground.

• Fill the lifting jacks on the descending side in the following manner (hitching will be facilitated): – Descend in double effect position in order to lift the front of the tractor (lift-off of wheels).

– Set the control lever in floating or double action position.

– Return to neutral.

• Apply the handbrake.

• Stop the engine.

• Decompress the hydraulic circuit using the control lever by performing frank movements (front/rear - left/right).

• Descend from the tractor.

OPERATION ON LEFT SIDE – Pull the handle of the "Fitlock" frame downwards until it comes to a stop in the slot (2).

– Open the cover (3), take out the supporting leg and lock it onto the frontal loader.

N.B.: Adjust the length of the supporting legs in order to obtain 10 to 30 mm between the ground and the shoe of the supporting leg (3).

OPERATIONS ON RIGHT SIDE • Open the cover, take out the supporting leg and lock it onto the frontal loader.

• Without "Mach system" (A): – Close the valve and disconnect the hydraulic coupling.

– Set in place the protective caps and arrange the hoses on the frontal loader.

• With "Mach system" (B): – Unlock the "Mach system" housing by pressing down on the push button to the side.

– Lift the handle.

– Attach the housing to its support (1).

– Pull the handle of the "Fitlock" frame downwards until it comes to a stop in the slot (1).

– Get back into the tractor.

– Check that the locking indicators (2) are in the upper red zone (unlocked position).

– Reverse the tractor with a small jerk, then reverse slowly until the frontal loader is supported on the supporting legs.

– Check the stability of the entire frontal loader (3).

LINKAGE OF THE FRONTAL LOADER Important: Check on the the left/right frames that the locking indicators (1) are in the green zone and that no object prevents the frontal loader from engaging.

N.B.: The adapter heads are equipped with a ramp and a roller used to relift the frontal loader.

Move the tractor slowly forward in order to guide the frame of the frontal loader onto the adapter until the latches click automatically into place (2).

OPERATIONS ON RIGHT SIDE • Without "Mach system" (A): – Remove the caps and connect the hydraulic couplings.

– Open the shut-off valve (3).

• With "Mach system" (B): – Take the housing in two hands and with the back of the housing lift the distributor cover.

– Engage the slides vertically.

– While pushing on the hoses with your left hand lower the lever of the housing with a jerk using your right hand until locking takes place.

– Check that the lever does not unlock by pulling it towards the rear.

– Remove the supporting leg (1) and place it in its housing.

– Close the cover.

OPERATIONS ON LEFT SIDE

– Remove the supporting leg (2) and place it in its housing.

– Close the cover.

– Get into the tractor.

Important: Set the tool in forced support on the ground (lift-off of the wheels) to check that the frontal loader is correctly hitched.

LINKAGE OF THE TOOL This operation must be carried out by the driver who when leaving his seat will prevent any movement of the tractor.

The unlocking lever must be in hitching position (1) (lever pulled towards you and tilted towards the rear). The pins (2) are drawn in and springs (3) are compressed.

Important: Check that the hoses of the tool are well removed from the hitching zone.

– Line up the frontal loader in the axis of the tool.

– Fit the tool holder over the tool and while continuing to move forward, move until the unlocking lever engages.

– Stop the engine.

N.B.: If the frontal loader is equipped with a solenoid valve, decompress, with the ignition switched on, by pressing down on the buttons and by using the control lever (left/right).

– Connect the couplings for the tools with hydraulic function("Mach 2" (4) or couplings).

Important: Set the tool in forced support on the ground (lift-off of the wheels) to check that it is correctly locked; move each mobile element in each direction to check the sealing of the hydraulic circuit and the positioning of the hoses .

UNHITCHING OF THE TOOL This operation must be carried out by the driver who when leaving his seat will prevent any movement of the tractor.

– Position the tractor on a flat horizontal surface.

– Lower the tool into horizontal position at 0,30 m from the ground (1).

– Tighten the handbrake and stop the engine.

– Decompress only the hydraulic lines to be disconnected.

N.B.: If the frontal loader is equipped with a solenoid valve, decompress, with the ignition switched on, by pressing down on the buttons and by using the control lever (left/right).

Disconnect the hydraulic couplings: – "Mach 2" (2): Unlock.

– Couplers: Put the male and female protective caps in place.

N.B.: For the next hitching, fit the hoses on the front part of the tool making sure that they are protected from fouling.

– Full the unlocking lever completely towards you then tilt it towards the rear to stop it (pins drawn in and springs compressed).

N.B.: The hitching of another tool is ready.

– Start the tractor then lower the frontal loader to the ground while discharging to the horizontal position of the tool holder.

– Reverse slowly in line.

LEVEL INDICATOR The level indicator, situated on the left stand of the frontal loader, is used to position the tool parallel to the ground during the descent of the frontal loader.

Warning light in position (1) = container parallel to the ground.

"PCH SYSTEM"

This is a parallelogram system by hydraulic compensation that functions automatically.

Important: The system is equipped with hydraulic safety elements that are not to be put out of adjustment.

2 positions of use for the "PCH" are available: – Container position (2): While the frontal loader is ascending or descending, the materials loaded do not fall towards the front or the rear.

– Palettisation position (3): While the frontal loader is ascending or descending, the materials loaded flat on the ground are maintained in a horizontal position.

MAINTENANCE OF THE FRONTAL LOADER When a high-pressure cleaner is used: – Do not stand too close to the frontal loader.

– No not direct the water jet at the electrical components.

– Clean the tool and the front of the tractor after use.

Important: The acid of the slurry, the fertilizers and the silages are highly corrosive.

Important: Check the tightness of the adaptation after 10 and 50 hours of work then every 100 hours (see table).

Important: All the glued screws requiring retightening must be cleaned and rebonded with thread lock (Frenetanch 242).

– Lubricate every 10 hours and after every washing.

– Check the condition of the articulations at each engine oil drain (if necessary replace the chafing rings and/or the axes).

– Check the tightness of the hydraulic circuit of the frontal loader and the hydraulic oil level of the tractor.

MAINTENANCE ON THE TRACTOR WITH FRONTAL LOADER Important: For maintenance operations on the tractor, it is advised that you unhitch the frontal loader.

For any repairs conducted with a raised frontal loader, it is imperative to fix it in its position.

Frontal loader without "Mach system": – Unhitch the tool and raise the frontal loader, close the stop valve on the hydraulic supply line of the lifting jacks.

Frontal loader with "Mach system": – Lift the frontal loader, unlock the "Mach system" by lifting the handle completely with a jerk.
