General Information

3 General Information OF SPECIAL IMPORTANCE The instructions set forth in this manual must be read carefully and followed by all persons concerned with the operation, maintenance, repair or inspection of this machine/front attachment in order to prevent accidents. Read and understand especially the »General Information« section and the chapter on »Safety« in your operator's manual. Observe the pertinent accident prevention regulations of your country.

Before starting work make sure that you have all the required tools and equipment.Compare the machine/front attachment type and the supplied set of parts.

Text and pictures are kept as neutral as possible.Text notes call attention to differences in the specific types.

Technical specifications, dimensions and weights are understood with the usual tolerances.

Forwards, backwards, right and left are always in the direction of travel.

General Information DESIGNATED USE

Dispose of oil, grease and filters correctly!

The use of spare parts, accessories and ancillary equipment which is not originally manufactured, and checked and released by CLAAS can have a negative effect on specific design features of the CLAAS machine/front attachment or on its operatability, thereby impairing active and/or passive operating safety, as well as safety at work (accident prevention).

Always disconnect power supply before work on the electrical system!

CLAAS will in no way be liable for damage or personal injury caused by the use of other than original CLAAS parts, accessories and additional equipment.

SAFETY DECALS WITH WARNING SYMBOLS The warning and instruction signs on the machine/ front attachment contain important information for safe operation. These instructions involve your safety – observe them at all times!

If warning symbols are damaged during modifications or if parts with warning symbols are replaced, ensure that new warning symbols are attached.

Wear safety goggles and mask for grinding work.

Observe the manufacturer's directions for the use of grinding and cutting discs.

Before welding, burning and grinding clean dust and flammable material from the machine/front attachment and its surroundings and ensure adequate ventilation – risk of explosion!

When using electrical welding equipment on attached machine/front attachment, disconnect power supply or remove cable on generator and battery!

When welding use required protective gear, such as dark safety goggles or shield, protective clothing, welding gloves and safety shoes. Do not look directly at the arc without eye protection – risk of blindness!

Always be aware of the weight of parts during assembly and disassembly. Use only safe and sufficiently dimensioned lifting gear and hoists.

Do not step under the suspended load!

Wear safety footwear!

The various decals are explained in detail in the operator's manual.

GENERAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS Read and observe the safety instructions in the »Safety« chapter in the operator's manual for the machine/front attachment.

Never carry out assembly and cleaning work unless the drive is switched and the engine is stopped!

– Remove the ignition key!

Only trained technicians may carry out assembly work.

Only technicians with special knowledge and experience in hydraulic systems may work on the hydraulic equipment of the machine/front attachment!

Before working on the hydraulic system, lower or drain machine/front attachment or hydraulically actuated components and depressurise the hydraulic system!

Energy storage equipment (springs, pressure tanks etc.) must be released as specified before working on them!

When working on the raised machine/front attachment always support it with suitable props!

Use suitable tools and gloves to remove and install working equipment!

• Will the machine be fitted to a tractor with push operation?

• The front mower width when fitting to tractors without push operation.

Pushed rear combination Ex works, the mower unit is delivered as a pushed rear-mounted combination The pushed rear-mounted combination is fitted on tractors with push operation.

Allocation of the drilled holes on the boom: Fitting of mower unit (1) in bore (A).

There is a risk of accidents when lifting heavy parts out of the packaging and during assembly.

– Do not stand under suspended loads.

– Observe the weight specifications of the parts.

– Use safe lifting devices.

• Release and remove the tie-downs.

• Take out the drive shafts, protective cover holders, protective covers, accessories pack, etc.

1. Before commissioning the machine: • Carry out tests in accordance with the operator's manual.

• Check the pull rope settings.

2. Check that the screws are tight.

3. Prior to operation, lubricate the machine thoroughly.

4. Check the levels of grease and oil in the transmissions.

5. Check the machine settings.

6. Check safety features (e.g. overload clutch, drive component covers, etc.) for proper operation and correct seating.

7. Never let the machine run while unattended.

8. Direct persons out of the danger area; if persons approach the danger area, switch the machine off immediately.

9. Carry out a functional check of the machine.

10. Switch on the PTO drive only at idle speed.

11. Check for leaks.

Work on the machine only when the engine is at a standstill.

– Remove the ignition key!

1. Before commissioning the machine: • Carry out tests in accordance with the operator's manual.

• Check the pull rope settings.

2. Check that the screws are tight.

3. Prior to operation, lubricate the machine thoroughly.

4. Check the levels of grease and oil in the transmissions.

5. Check the machine settings.

6. Check safety features (e.g. overload clutch, drive component covers, etc.) for proper operation and correct seating.

7. Never let the machine run while unattended.

8. Direct persons out of the danger area; if persons approach the danger area, switch the machine off immediately.

9. Carry out a functional check of the machine.

10. Switch on the PTO drive only at idle speed.

11. Check for leaks.

FRONT MOWER UNIT Unhitching the front mower unit To unhitch the front mower unit – see the operator's manual.

Set down the front unit safely.

Lock in park position.

Remove the universal drive shaft.

Undo the quick-release three-point hitch.

Carefully lower the front hydraulics and take the quick-release three-point hitch out of the hitch block.

• Remove any strain relief completely from the front unit (strain relief = 0)

• Disconnect cables for lighting and the speed sensor.

Note!

Once the speed sensor cable has been disconnected, the quick-release three-point hitch can only be raised if the side mower units are in the transport position or if the detector cable between the front mower unit and the frame is in place (front/rear combination).
