1 - GENERAL INFORMATION Note to the Owner This manual contains information concerning the adjustment and maintenance of your new equipment. You have purchased a dependable machine, but only by proper care and operation can you expect to receive the performance and long service built into this equipment. Please have all operators read this manual carefully and keep it available for ready reference.

Your CASE IH AGRICULTURE dealer will instruct you in the general operation of your new equipment. (Refer to the 'Delivery Report' at the back of this manual.) Your dealer's staff of factory-trained service technicians will be glad to answer any questions that may arise regarding the operation of your machine. Case IH Max Service is also available.

1 - GENERAL INFORMATION

Intended use The loader was designed to mount on CASE IH AGRICULTURE approved tractors. The loader is designed to load and move materials with a variety of buckets and approved CASE IH AGRICULTURE attachments.

DO NOT use this machine for any purpose or in any manner other than as described in the manual, decals, or other product safety information provided with the machine. These materials define the machine’s intended use.

Use only approved accessories and attachments designed for your machine. Consult your dealer on changes, additions or modifications that may be required for your machine. Do not make any unauthorized modifications to your machine.

Installation and operation instructions for certain hydraulic valve sets, attachments and accessories may not be included in this operator’s manual. Use the publication received with the specific item or in the case of hydraulic valves, refer to the tractor operator’s manual.

NOTICE: Loader frames are designed for specific tractor models. Do not install a loader frame on a different model than specified, without obtaining approval from CNH America LLC.

Operator’s age All persons who will be operating this machine shall possess a valid local vehicle operating permit and/or other applicable local age work permits.

Product Identification Product identification plate A product identification plate (1) is located on the inside of the left-hand loader arm.

The identification numbers on this plate are important in the event that your loader should require future service.

The plate specifies: Model, Product Identification Number and Production Date.

The loader model, product identification number (PIN) and production date, must always be quoted during service questions or when spare parts are needed.

Safety rules - Personal safety Carefully study these precautions, and those included in the external attachment operators manual, and insist that they be followed by those working with and for you.

1.

Thoroughly read and understand this manual and the attachment Operator’s Manual before operating this or any other equipment.

2.

Be sure all people and pets are clear of the machine before starting. Sound the horn, if equipped, three times before starting engine.

3.

Only the operator should be on the machine when in operation. Never allow anyone to climb on to the machine while it is in motion. If the machine is equipped with an Instructors Seat, this must only be used for training purposes. Passengers must not be allowed to use the Instructors Seat.

Keep all shields in place. Never work around the machine or any of the attachments while wearing loose clothing that might catch on moving parts.

Keep all your equipment in safe operating condition.

Keep all guards and safety devices in place.

Always set the parking brake, shut off the engine and remove the key, engage the transmission gears, wait for all machine or attachment motion to come to a stop, before leaving the operators platform to service the machine and attachment.

Observe the following precautions whenever lubricating the machine or making adjustments.

Disengage all clutching levers or switches.

•

Lower the attachment, if equipped, to the ground or raise the attachment completely and engage the cylinder safety locks. Completing these actions will prevent the attachment from lowering unexpectedly.

•

Engage the parking brake.

•

Shut off the engine and remove the key.

•

Wait for all machine movement to stop before leaving the operators platform.

Always keep the machine in gear while travelling downhill.

Personal safety

A careful operator is the best operator. Most accidents can be avoided by observing certain precautions. To help prevent accidents, read the following precautions before operating this equipment. Equipment should be operated only by those who are responsible and instructed to do so.

Carefully review the procedures given in this manual with all operators. It is important that all operators be familiar with and follow safety precautions.

General

The loader

1.

Read the Operator's Manual carefully before using the tractor or loader. Lack of operating knowledge can lead to accidents.

Improper use of a loader can cause serious injury or death.

2.

Replace damaged or illegible safety decals. See the Specifications section of this manual for required decals.

Do not lift or carry anybody on the loader or in the bucket or attachment.

3.

Never allow anyone to get under the loader bucket or reach through the lift arms when the bucket is raised.

4.

Do not walk or work under a raised loader, bucket, or attachment unless it is securely blocked or held in position.

5.

Avoid overhead wires and obstacles when the loader is raised. Contacting electrical lines can cause electrocution.

6.

Make sure all dismounted loaders are on a hard, level surface.

7.

Do not repair, remove, or replace any parts of the loader while it is in the dismounted position.

Operate the tractor and loader only from the operator's seat.

The tractor 1.

Use an approved roll bar and seat belt for safe operation. Overturning a tractor without a roll bar can result in death or injury. If your tractor is not equipped with a roll bar and seat belt, see your tractor dealer.

2.

Equip your tractor with FOPS (Falling Object Protective Structure) and seat belts before installing or operating the loader.

3.

Use the loader only on a tractor with the ROPS installed. Whenever possible, operate the tractor and loader with the ROPS in the upright and locked position and the seat belt fastened and correctly adjusted. When operating in restricted overhead environment with the ROPS folded down, do not wear the seat belt. Always return the ROPS to the upright and locked position as soon as operating conditions permit.

4.

Add the recommended wheel ballast and/or rear weight as recommended in the operator’s manual to provide good stability.

5.

Move the wheels to the tractor manufacturer's widest recommended settings to increase stability.

6.

Move and turn the tractor at low speeds.

Operating the loader 1.

It is the loader owner's responsibility to be certain that anyone operating the loader reads this manual first to be aware of the safe way of operating the loader.

2.

Exercise caution when operating the loader with a raised, loaded bucket or fork.

3.

Avoid loose fill, rocks, and holes. They can be dangerous for loader operation or movement.

4.

Use care to maintain proper stability when operating on steep grades. Always carry the bucket in the lowest position possible.

5.

Allow for the loader length when making turns.

6.

Stop the loader arms gradually when lowering or lifting.

7.

Use caution when handling loose or shiftable loads.

Carry the bucket at a low position during transport for better visibility.

When parking or servicing, lower the bucket to the ground, stop the engine, and set the parking brakes before leaving the tractor seat.

10.

Operate the loader controls only when properly seated at the controls.

Using front end loaders without special attachments for handling large heavy objects such as large round or rectangular bales, logs, and oil drums is NOT RECOMMENDED.

Handling large heavy objects can be extremely dangerous due to:

Maintenance 1.

When servicing or replacing the pins in the cylinder ends, bucket, etc., always use a drift and hammer. Failure to do so could result in injury from flying metal fragments.

2.

Do not modify or alter, or permit anyone else to modify or alter, the loader or any of its components or any loader function without first consulting a CASE IH AGRICULTURE dealer. If you have any questions regarding loader modifications, contact your dealer.

3.

Always wear safety goggles when servicing or repairing the machine.

4.

Escaping hydraulic/diesel fluid under pressure can penetrate the skin, causing serious injury.

If you must perform this sort of work (see #12 above), protect yourself by:

•

DO NOT use your hand to check for leaks.

•

Use a piece of cardboard or paper to search for leaks.

•

Stop the engine and relieve the pressure before connecting or disconnecting the hydraulic or diesel lines.

•

Loader lift capacity and break-away capacity diminish as the loader height is increased. Use care not to grasp more material than the loader is designed to handle.

Do not tamper with the relief valve setting. The relief valve is preset at the factory. Changing the setting can cause overloading the loader and tractor, and serious operator injury may result.

2 - SAFETY INFORMATION

Shutoff mechanism The loader is equipped with a shutoff mechanism (1) located in the area of the hydraulic couplers on the right of the loader.

The handle should be moved to the "closed" horizontal position (2) during service work, or when the loader is left in the lifted position for any length of time for other reasons.

If the loader is equipped with a multi coupler (MC4) (3), open the multi coupler (4) during service work.

DO NOT use the shutoff valve when working on the loader hydraulic cylinders or associated piping. In these cases, you must lower the loader to the ground.

Safety Decals Safety signs are placed on your machine as a guide for your safety. Walk around the machine and note the content and location of these decals before operating your machine Following is a listing of Safety signs and locations. Read and understand them before operating the machine

Use a soft cloth, water, and a gentle detergent.

Do not use solvent, gasoline or other harsh chemicals to clean Safety signs. Solvents, gasoline, and other harsh chemicals may damage or remove Safety signs.

Replace all Safety signs that are damaged, missing, painted over or illegible. See your CASE IH AGRICULTURE dealer for replacement Safety signs.

5.

If a Safety sign is on a part that is replaced, make sure the Safety sign is installed on the new part.

Universal or informational Safety signs Decals which display the “Read Operator’s Manual” symbol are intended to direct the operator to the Operator’s Manual for further information regarding maintenance, adjustments, and/or procedures for particular areas of the machine. When a Safety sign displays this symbol refer to the appropriate page of the Operator’s Manual.

Foreword - Ecology and the environment Soil, air, and water are vital factors of agriculture and life in general. When legislation does not yet rule the treatment of some of the substances which are required by advanced technology, sound judgement should govern the use and disposal of products of a chemical and petrochemical nature.

HELPFUL HINTS •

Avoid filling tanks using cans or inappropriate pressurized fuel delivery systems which may cause considerable spillage.

In general, avoid skin contact with all fuels, oils, acids, solvents, etc. Most of them contain substances which may be harmful to your health.

•

Modern oils contain additives. Do not burn contaminated fuels and or waste oils in ordinary heating systems.

•

Avoid spillage when draining off used engine coolant mixtures, engine, gearbox and hydraulic oils, brake fluids, etc. Do not mix drained brake fluids or fuels with lubricants. Store them safely until they can be disposed of in a proper way to comply with local legislation and available resources.

•

Modern coolant mixtures, i.e. antifreeze and other additives, should be replaced every two years. They should not be allowed to get into the soil but should be collected and disposed of properly.

•

Do not open the air-conditioning system yourself. It contains gases which should not be released into the atmosphere. Your CASE IH AGRICULTURE dealer or air conditioning specialist has a special extractor for this purpose and will have to recharge the system properly.

•

Repair any leaks or defects in the engine cooling or hydraulic system immediately.

•

Do not increase the pressure in a pressurized circuit as this may lead to a component failure.

•

Protect hoses during welding as penetrating weld splatter may burn a hole or weaken them, allowing the loss of oils, coolant, etc.

The following information is provided to reduce risk of machine overturning during normal operation. Ballast tractor to meet requirements outlined below.

Raise loader until bucket pivot is level with loader arm pivot (bucket in farthest forward position).

3.

Hydraulic controls Tractor/Loader Hydraulic Controls The loader’s hydraulic system can be connected to the tractor hydraulic system in one of three alternate ways.

Alternative 1 The first alternative is that the tractor’s hydraulic system is connected to the loader’s hydraulic control valve. A joystick control handle located beside the operator’s seat, controls the loader control valve via two control cables.

The joystick control can be locked in the neutral position to prevent inadvertent operation of the loader. Lock the joystick by moving the tab on the front of the joystick housing to the right. Check that the joystick is locked by trying to move the joystick handle for and aft and left and right. The handle should not be able to move If the handle will not lock contact your dealer.

Alternative 1 (Diverter Valve System) A solenoid valve is installed to the central control valve, that is located on the front cross tube of the loader. The diverter valve system is only compatible with a two function mechanical control valve.

Alternative 2 (Live third function) The control valve on some model loaders have the provision to add a “Live Third Function� valve slice to the control valve.

Install Quick Lock on the left and right bearing boxes. Install stop (A) on the left and right subframes.

Install the subframe set and connect the loader valve or hose kit to the tractors hydraulics in accordance with the installation instructions.

Lift the loader up onto the subframe. Holes for attaching the lifting hooks are found on the inside of the tie plates.

Make sure that the lock handle on Quick Lock is pulled out and rests on the heel. When the bearing box passes the stop, the Quick Lock system will lock the loader to the subframe. Make sure that the green end of the lock pin is visible on the inside of both the left and right bearing boxes.

Connect the hoses to the hydraulic source as shown in the illustration.

The control joystick must be connected to the valve so that the loader is raised when the joystick is moved rearwards.

Parking stands (1) are located under the front part of the loader arms. Pull up on the top end of the stands to release from the arms and fold them down to the ground. Swing the link down and insert the link in the notched bar inside the stand. Select the notch with the stand resting on the ground.

NOTE: Raise the loader arms slightly if necessary to ease installation of link into notch. Pad on stand should be approximately 50 mm (2 in) from ground with link in the selected notch and front of bucket resting on the ground.

Disconnect the hose connection(s) and install dust cover on the couplings.

Reverse the tractor carefully until it is completely clear from the loader.

NOTICE: Make sure that you position the hoses in the hose holder on the right-hand boom arm so that they do not catch on the tractor.

Connect the hydraulics. If there is any difficulty in coupling the quick release couplings, this will be because the oil pressure has not been relieved.

NOTICE: Never use force on quick release couplings by striking the valve ball. This can damage it so that coupling will not open when coupled together. (Oil can only pass in one direction.) Make sure that couplers are connected to their corresponding point to complete the hydraulic circuit.

If your loader is fitted with a Quick Release Coupler system, clean the connection surfaces prior to aligning the guide pin and making the connection.

Extend the bucket cylinders (dump) to enable the stationary pins to engage and seat into saddles of subframe uprights. (Rear of bucket will come off ground, loader will pivot about parking stands and rear of loader will lower).

Check list When the loader has been installed - check carefully that everything works before it is taken into service. The following points must always be checked. Mark them off and do the necessary adjustments if necessary.

1.

Check that everything has been installed in accordance with the installation instructions.

2.

Check that a counterweight is fitted, which is appropriate for the bucket and attachment application rating.

3.

Check that all bolts are tightened.

4.

Check that the front wheels clear the loader and subframe, during full wheel lock and oscillation of the front axle - if this is not the case, oscillation stops or limitation of steering lock must be installed.

5.

Check that the locking pins are secured on both the left and right sides of the loader, then test operate the loader.

6.

Check that no oil leakage occurs.

7.

Operate all loader functions several times to remove air from the system.

8.

Check the tractor oil level - top off as necessary.

9.

Check that the implement lock pins engage when connecting an implement to the loader face plate or tool bar, by pressing the front section of the implement against the ground.

10.

Check that the loader does not have any visible defects.

Description The soft ride suspension dampens the shock loads of the loader when driving on uneven ground. It consists of two or three accumulators. .

Install bucket or attachment (EURO style) Raise/lower the loader to make the base of the tool carrier about 50 mm (2 in) from the ground. Tilt the tool carrier forwards slightly (using the bucket level indicator as a reference).

Drive the tractor forwards slowly to position the tool carrier under the hooks on the attachment.

When the attachment plate contacts the attachment, raise the loader to "hook" the attachment to the tool carrier. Roll the attachment back to engage the attachment locking system.

Before operating the machine, always make sure the bucket or attachment is securely locked into the quick-attach plate. A loader bucket or attachment that is not securely locked into the quick-attach plate could come off during loader operation.

Always check that the coupled bucket or attachment is locked in place. Press the front of the bucket or attachment against the ground and visually check that the tool carrier locking pins are engaged in the eyes of the attachment.

On live third hydraulic function units, press and hold the top side of the switch to open the grapple or bottom side of the switch to close grapple. Consult with your dealer as to the style of system on your tractor/loader.

Lift the load carefully, keeping the bucket level. Raise loader only enough for clearance under bale. Move bale slowly and carefully until ready to unload.

NOTE: Always roll back bucket if bale is to be lifted more than 152 mm (6 in) above ground level.

Release bale as close to the ground as possible. Partially dump bucket while slowly opening grapple. Carefully back unit away from bale.

Move the hydraulic control lever forward to lower the H.D. bale grip around bale.

Press the loader third hydraulic function button and move the hydraulic control lever to the left to close the arms on the bale, on units equipped with the electric diverter valve. On Live 3rd units press and hold the bottom button to close the arms.

Move the hydraulic control lever rearward to lift the bale.

Torque - Standard torque data for hydraulics INSTALLATION OF ADJUSTABLE FITTINGS IN STRAIGHT THREAD O RING BOSSES 1.

Lubricate the O-ring by coating it with a light oil or petroleum. Install the O-ring in the groove adjacent to the metal backup washer which is assembled at the extreme end of the groove (4).

Install the fitting into the SAE straight thread boss until the metal backup washer contacts the face of the boss (5).

NOTE: Do not over tighten and distort the metal backup washer.

Position the fitting by turning out (counterclockwise) up to a maximum of one turn. Holding the pad of the fitting with a wrench, tighten the locknut and washer against the face of the boss (6).

These torques are not recommended for tubes of 12.7 mm (1/2 in) OD and larger with wall thickness of 0.889 mm (0.035 in) or less. The torque is specified for 0.889 mm (0.035 in) wall tubes on each application individually.

Before installing and torquing 37 ° flared fittings, clean the face of the flare and threads with a clean solvent or Loctite cleaner and apply hydraulic sealant LOCTITE® 569 to the 37 ° flare and the threads.

Install fitting and torque to specified torque, loosen fitting and retorque to specifications.

INSTALLATION OF ORFS (O-RING FLAT FACED) FITTINGS When installing ORFS fittings thoroughly clean both flat surfaces of the fittings (1) and lubricate the O-ring (2) with light oil. Make sure both surfaces are aligned properly.

Torque the fitting to specified torque listed throughout the repair manual.

NOTICE: If the fitting surfaces are not properly cleaned, the O-ring will not seal properly. If the fitting surfaces are not properly aligned, the fittings may be damaged and will not seal properly.

NOTICE: Always use genuine factory replacement oils and filters to ensure proper lubrication and filtration of engine and hydraulic system oils.

The use of proper oils, grease, and keeping the hydraulic system clean will extend machine and component life.

Hoses and cylinders Read this before checking hydraulic system for leaks:

WARNING Escaping fluid!

Hydraulic fluid or diesel fuel leaking under pressure can penetrate the skin and cause infection or other injury. To prevent personal injury: Relieve all pressure before disconnecting fluid lines or performing work on the hydraulic system. Before applying pressure, make sure all connections are tight and all components are in good condition. Never use your hand to check for suspected leaks under pressure. Use a piece of cardboard or wood for this purpose. If injured by leaking fluid, see your doctor immediately.

Inspect hoses and fittings periodically for wear and leaks.

Be sure hoses have sufficient clearance and do not rub against frame. Replace hoses if damaged and keep all fittings tight.

Cylinders are double-acting. For efficient operation, they must be kept in good repair at all times. Leaks, internal or external, affect operation and can be hazardous.

This loader requires a high pressure hydraulic system.

Use only approved replacement parts.

Check that all hoses and adapters have been tightened and that they do not leak.

Repairing hydraulic cylinders

Tighten all the bolts on the loader and mounting bracket hardware to the values specific in 5-1, except in the cases where the tightening torque is specified in the assembly instructions.

•

The torques specified in 5-1 apply to clean, dry threads.

Lubricated threads will result in the fastener being overtightened. Damaged or dirty threads will result in the fastener being undertightened.

•

A torque multiplier may be needed when tightening bolts to high torque values.

•

Disassembly, repair and assembly of hydraulic cylinders requires special tools to prevent damage to internal components.We recommend that a cylinder that needs repair should be repaired by an authorized dealer.

Checking loader frame hardware •

Hardware torque should be checked immediately after installation, and several times after a short period of use. Improperly tightened hardware may cause structural damage to loader and/or tractor.

Basic instructions Check that the oil is at normal working temperature before the loader is tested.

Faulty functioning of the loader is frequently caused by factors not related to the loader: •

Check the oil level in the tractor's hydraulic tank.

Top up to the correct level.

•

•

Check that the correct oil is used. Only use the oil specified in the tractor instruction manual. Incorrect oil can cause foaming, heating and internal leakage.

When a hose kit is used, make sure that the tractor valve has been adjusted for double action. Check that flow control has been set to maximum value.

•

Operate the loader cylinders to their end positions several times to remove air from hoses and cylinders.

•

Make sure that hoses and couplings are correctly installed and connected to the tractor. Hydraulic couplings must be fully inserted.

•

Check that the oil is clean and free from moisture.

Change the oil and filter as necessary.

Most problems which occur with the loader are simple in nature and can be easily rectified. Use the "Trouble Shooting" on the following pages to help you localize and rectify problems.

•

Check hoses and couplings for leakage, cuts and twists.

Low temperatures can cause slow movement and/or that the loader does not function normally until normal working temperature has been reached.

Soft-Ride Load Damper A nitrogen bladder shock damper system, (1) that reduces stresses on the tractor and loader while improving operator comfort. System can be set to two different working modes.

NOTE: The CASE IH AGRICULTURE The L725,L735 and L745 loaders have two accumulators.

The L755,L765,L775,L785 and L795 have three accumulators.
