1 - GENERAL INFORMATION###_1_### Foreword We have pleasure in presenting you the third edition of operator’s manual for CASE CONSTRUCTION 752 vibratory compactor.

Your machine will remain productive for years provided you carefully observe and maintain the operating and servicing recommendations outlined in this manual, which cover the following information: • Technical specifications • Machine application details • Technical features of the machine • Identification • Service contract programme • Trouble shooting • Safety • Maintenance To keep the machine in good operating conditions at all times and to use it for an extended period of time, it is mandatory to read this book and understand the details before putting the machine to work.

Continuous efforts are put to improve upon the performance of the machine by improvements and upgradations of specifications. This may result certain changes on illustrations and part numbers without any prior notice. Please, contact our regional marketing offices for latest updations.

1 - GENERAL INFORMATION

Intended use Read this manual before you start the engine or operate the machine. If you need more information, contact your Case New Holland Construction Equipment (India) Pvt. Ltd. dealer.

This manual contains important information about safe operation, adjustment, and maintenance of your loader backhoe. This manual is divided into chapters as outlined in the table of contents. Refer to the index at the end of this manual for locating specific items about your machine. The loader backhoe conforms to current safety regulations.

Read this manual carefully, paying particular attention to the instructions concerning safety, operation and maintenance so as to avoid the risk of injury while operating or servicing the machine.

NOTE: All persons who will be operating this machine shall possess a valid local vehicle operating permit and/or other applicable local age work permits.

The machine has been designed and manufactured according to the strictest quality standards. However, the risk of accidents can never be completely excluded. That is why it is essential to observe elementary safety rules and precautions. DO NOT operate or permit anyone to operate or service this machine until you or the other persons have read and understand the safety, operation, and maintenance instructions in this manual. Use only trained operators who have demonstrated the ability to operate and service this machine correctly and safely.

The information in this manual is provided on the basis of information that was available at the time that the manual was printed. Settings, procedures, part numbers, software, and other items can change. These changes can affect the service that is given to the machine. Ensure that you have the complete and most current information from your dealer before you start any machine operation.

The Operator's Manual is to be stored in the define place equipped on this machine. Make sure this manual is complete and in good condition. Consult your dealer to obtain additional manuals or manuals in other languages.

Contact your dealer for any further information or assistance about your machine. Your dealer has Company approved service parts. Your dealer has technicians with special training that know the best methods of repair and maintenance for your machine.

Note to the Owner Congratulations! You are now the proud owner of CASE - 752 Vibratory Compactor.

All the components of this unit have been thoroughly checked and tested to meet the standards of quality and reliability you are entitled to expect in the field.

Your machine will remain a highly profitable tool provided you observe & maintain the operating and servicing recommendations outlined in this manual carefully, which covers the following items: • Features and specifications of the machine.

• Operation.

• Basic safety rules.

• Maintenance and Consumable.

• Quick repair instructions on Hydraulic, Mechanical and Electrical systems.

Warranty service Our representatives ( CASE CONSTRUCTION India Service Personnel) are at your disposal to assist you in maintaining your machine in perfect working condition. Our personnel will carry out four machine service during the warranty period.

• Vibratory Compactor delivery and commissioning service • 250 h Service.

• 500 h Service • 1000 h / End of Warranty Service Inspection • End of warranty service Inspection i.e. 12 months with unlimited hours operation.

• Bought out items like engine, battery are warranted under sole discretion of manufacturer.

These inspections are compulsory and free of charge.

It is absolutely essential to maintain your tandem compactor in optimum condition so as to ensure maximum performance over a long period of time, and hence, these services are to be carried out in time.

In case these services are not carried out in time, the warranty applicable for your machine may stand void and nullified. Hence, it is in your own interest to ensure that your machines are attended in time for mandatory services.

After the expiry of warranty period, our spare parts and service personnel will remain at your disposal for any assistance and/or supply of original spare parts, the interchangeability and quality of which are guaranteed.

Our field service personnel will organize training course for operators in • Efficient machine operation • Practical knowledge of maintenance methods Wherever you may be, our representative is at your disposal for any information or help you may require at all times.

This manual has been specially prepared for the benefit of your Operators and Mechanics to help them derive the most optimum performance from your machine and to keep the downtime to the barest minimum. This manual should be consulted frequently and should be understood thoroughly.

Intended use This machine has been built with the most advanced technology and in accordance with the recognized safety rules.

The machine must be used according to its intended use only, respecting the safety, precautions and operating instructions. Any functional disorders ,especially those affecting the safety of the machine, should therefore be rectified immediately.

Avoid injury!

Using the machine for purposes other than or beyond the intended use is not allowed; for example: • for the transportation of persons, • as a working platform, • Service • for pulling attached loads, • for pulling or transporting loads without the intended working equipment. Failure to comply could result in death or serious injury.

The manufacturer/supplier cannot be held responsible for any damage resulting from unintended use. The risk involved in such misuse lies entirely with the user.

NOTE: For clarity, some figures in this manual show the machine with protection panels or covers removed. Never operate the machine with any protection panels or covers removed.

NOTICE: It is absolutely forbidden to tamper with and/or change the setting of any of the hydraulic system valves to avoid damaging machine components, with a consequent risk of personal safety.

The current operator's manual is the user's guide for correct run-in, use and maintenance of the machine.

Carefully read this operator's manual and store it in the cab for quick reference. Instructions concerning safety, operation and maintenance have been developed to permit safe service and operation of this machine.

In the event of queries or suggestions relevant to your machine do not hesitate to address to your dealer. Dealers have qualified and trained personnel at disposal along with original spares, means and equipment suitable to carry out all necessary maintenance.

Any modifications or adaptations which are not approved by the manufacturer may invalidate the machine's original conformity with safety requirements.

NOTICE: The engine and fuel system on your machine are designed and built to government emissions standards.

Tampering by dealers, customers, operators and users is strictly prohibited by law. Failure to comply with this prohibition could result in government fines, rework charges, invalid warranty, legal action and possible confiscation of the machine until rework to original condition is completed. Engine service and/or repairs must be carried out by a certified technician only.

Before entrusting this machine to an operator, make sure that: • The operator is qualified to operate the machine correctly and safely.

• The operator has read and completely understood the instructions given in this manual.

Consult your dealer to obtain any other technical manuals or manuals in other languages.

Your dealer is at your disposal for any further information you may need.

Spare parts The "non-genuine" spare parts have not been checked and authorized by the manufacturer. The assembly of such products may have negative effects on the machine design features and could impair its operation safety. The manufacturer is not liable for any damage caused by "non-genuine" spare parts or accessories.

Warranty The warranty applicable for mode of CASE 752 Vibratory Compactor manufactured by CASE CONSTRUCTION Equipment (India) Pvt. Ltd (the company) will be as under: 1.

Each vibratory compactor (equipment) manufactured by the company/seller shall be devoid of the defects in material and workmanship.

All goods will be warranted against defective material, parts and workmanship for a period of 12 months with unlimited hours of operation from the date of commissioning of the machine.

The company’s/seller’s liability will be limited to the repair or replacement of the parts which are provided defective within the aforesaid warranty period in normal operation, proper use and service when owned by the original buyer only.

The warranty will not cover electrical items, FM Radio, Speakers, rubber items such as dampers, seals, tires, O-rings and consumable like oil and filter elements.

5.

The warranty will not cover normal wear and tear, failures due to improper operation, poor maintenance and/or improper handling of the equipment.

6.

The warranty will not cover any damages caused while the equipment is in storage or under transit during the period of warranty.

7.

The above warranty will be in each instance, dependent on the warranties extended to the company/seller by his suppliers in the case of such bought out items as engines, electric motors, alternators, tires and tubes and batteries.

8.

Under no circumstances whatsoever shall company/seller be responsible for defects in quality, workmanship or performance beyond the guarantee of company’s/seller’s suppliers in respect of such items.

9.

The company’s/seller’s liability will be limited to the repair/replacement of the defective parts and will not cover direct or indirect losses suffered on this account and no claim for consequential damages will be entertained.

10. The warranty shall not cover the cost of removal and/or refitting of any parts to the equipment.

11. The warranty shall also not cover the expenses of packing and freight in connection with replacement deliveries made to the buyer and the cost for the same shall be borne by the buyer.

12. All replacements supplied under this warranty will be on the basis of the seller’s option subject to availability of required import license or custom’s clearance permit wherever applicable.

13. All parts found to be defective and replaced by the company/seller shall become its property. In every instance, it shall be the buyer’s responsibility to send the failed parts duly packed to the company’s regional office/factory on freight paid basis. In case of default, no warranty shall be paid for the parts covered therein.

14. It shall be obligatory on the part of the buyer to use only genuine CNH spare parts, recommended hydraulic oil transmission oil, grease and lubricants etc. Further it shall also be obligatory to assemble parts in accordance with the guidelines given by the company/seller.

15. Non-conformance of the above shall automatically and irrevocably void the warranty.

16. Please refer to the authorized dealer regarding free services available. Strict adherence to the instructions given therein is necessary.

17. No warranty is applicable for accidents and failures caused due to negligence of the machine operator.

18. The Company reserves the right to make changes in design or improvements on the machines any time without incurring any obligations to incorporate such changes or improvements on machines previously supplied by the company.

The manufacturer, provided that the basic characteristics of machine types described and shown in this manual remain the same, reserves the right to change components, parts and accessories supplied without any commitment to timely update this publication, and this any time it deems it convenient for improvement purposes or due to commercial or manufacturing requirements. 2 - SAFETY INFORMATION

Personal safety This is the safety alert symbol. It is used to alert you to potential personal injury hazards. Obey all safety messages that follow this symbol to avoid possible death or injury.

Throughout this manual and on Machine decals, you will find the signal words DANGER, WARNING, and CAUTION followed by special instructions. These precautions are intended for the personal safety of you and those working with you.

Read and understand all the safety messages in this manual before you operate or service the machine.

DANGER: indicates a hazardous situation which, if not avoided, will result in death or serious injury. The color associated with DANGER is RED.

WARNING: indicates a hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could result in death or serious injury. The color associated with WARNING is ORANGE.

CAUTION: indicates a hazardous situation which, if not avoided, could result in moderate or minor injury. The color associated with CAUTION is YELLOW. Failure to follow DANGER, WARNING, and CAUTION messages could result in death or serious injury.

Safety rules Understand that your safety and the safety of other workers or nearby people is measured by how you service and operate this machine. Know the position and operation or all controls before you try to operate. Check all controls in a safe area before starting your work.

Read this manual completely and make sure you understand the controls. All equipment has a limit. Make sure you understand the speed, brakes, steering, stability, and load characteristics of this machine before you start to operate.

Most accidents involving machine operation and maintenance can be avoided by following basic safety rules and precautions. Read and understand all the safety messages in this manual, the safety manual, and the safety decals on the machine. See your dealer if you have any questions.

Safety rules - basic operating WARNING Escaping fluid!

Hydraulic fluid or diesel fuel leaking under pressure can penetrate the skin and cause infection or other injury. To prevent personal injury: Relieve all pressure before disconnecting fluid lines or performing work on the hydraulic system. Before applying pressure, make sure all connections are tight and all components are in good condition. Never use your hand to check for suspected leaks under pressure. Use a piece of cardboard or wood for this purpose. If injured by leaking fluid, see your doctor immediately.

Failure to comply could result in death or serious injury.

WARNING Some components may continue to run down after you disengage drive systems.

Make sure all drive systems are fully disengaged.

Safety rules - fire or explosion proof prevention • Leaked or spilled fuel/oil on hot surface or electrical components can cause a fire.

• Engine fuel can cause an explosion or fire. Do not fill the fuel with engine running.

• Sparks from the electrical system or engine exhaust can cause an explosion and fire. Before you operate the machine in an area with flammable dust or vapors, use good ventilation to remove the flammable dust or vapors.

Safety rules - operator precautions • Continuous long term contact with hydraulic fluid may cause cancer. Avoid long term contact and wash the skin promptly with soap and water.

• Know and understand the job site traffic flow patterns and obey signalmen, road signs, and flagmen.

• Know and use the hand signals required for particular jobs, and know who has the responsibility for signaling.

• Do not operate the machine if you do not feel well. This can be dangerous for you and for people around you.

• Wear protective equipment when appropriate. Hard hats, protective glasses, protective glasses, shoes, gloves, reflector type vests, respirators and ear protection are examples.

• Do not operate the machine while under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or while otherwise impaired.

• Keep clean of moving parts. Loose clothing, jewelry, watches, long hair, and other loose items can become entangled in moving parts.

• Always check for battery cover properly locked before climbing on the machine.

Safety rules - maintenance and repair • Perform repair and maintenance work only when the drive is at standstill. Deviation from this rule is allowed when the work cannot be performed without drive.

• Before starting to work on hydraulic lines relieve the same from pressure. Pin-sized and smaller streams of hydraulic oil pressure can penetrate the skin and result in serious injury. If the hydraulic oil under pressure does penetrate the skin, seek medical treatment immediately.

• Refit all the covers, if removed during maintenance work.

• Maintain all hoses and tubes in a good condition. Make sure all connections are tight.

• Make a replacement of any tube or hose that is damaged or thought to be damaged. Do not use your hands to check for leaks. Use a piece of cardboard or wood.

• Use insulated gloves.

• When using hammer to remove and install the pivot pins or separate parts using compressed air or using a grinder, wear eye protection that completely encloses the eyes.

• Before starting to work on the electrical system of the machine, disconnect the battery.

• Lock the articulation joint before carrying out work on rollers with the articulated frame.

Safety rules - transportation precautions • The machine can be moved within contained construction site by means of propulsion.

• Comply with local laws and regulations.

• Use appropriate lighting as defined by local regulations.

• On public road the machine is to be transported on suitable transport vehicles, In this case the machine must be sufficiently secured against rolling off and sliding on vehicle.

Safety rules - safety decals The decals are intended for the personal safety of you and those working with you. Please take this manual, walk around your machine and note the content and location of the decals.

It is the owner’s/operator’s responsibility to keep the decals legible.

When you clean the decals, use only a cloth, water and soap. Do not use solvent, gasoline etc.

General safety rules

1. Make sure to arrest all fuel leaks. Any fuel or oil spilled on hot surface or electrical components may cause fire accidents. Make sure that the machine is sealed from leakage.

2. Do not allow straw, trash, bird nests or flammable material in the machine and remove the same as they can ignite fire on hot surfaces.

3. Make sure the fire extinguisher installed on or near the machine. If already equipped, the fire extinguisher is maintained and serviced according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

4. Check and make sure to clean all the trash from the machine especially around hot components such as the engine, transmission, exhaust, battery, etc. Do these checks and clean the machine at least once a day, probably at the end of the day. More frequent checks and cleaning of machine may be necessary depending on the operating environment and conditions.

5. Inspect the electrical system for loose connections and frayed insulation. Repair or replace the loose or damaged parts.

6. Check and remove the debris accumulation around moving components such as bearings, pulleys, belts, gears, cleaning fans, etc. More frequent cleaning of the machine may be necessary depending on the operating environment and conditions.

7. Check all Fuses, Relay, and MCB’s for correct ratings and validity. Replace the defective or non-complaint parts.

Do not to bypass/override/tamper any safety systems of the machine.

8. Check and remove any oily rags or other flammable material on the machine. Do not to store such material around or on the machine.

9. Make sure that do not weld or flame cut any items that contain flammable material. Clean the items thoroughly with non-flammable solvents before welding or flame-cutting.

10. Immediately investigate any unusual smells or odors that may emerge during operation of the machine. Always aware of such observations and actions thereof.

11. Make sure that the machine is serviced only by authorized CASE CONSTRUCTION dealer service team and not by any external parties.

12. Check and remove any non-recommended devices that are fitted on the machine. Do not to use any devices that are not a standard fitment by the company.

13. The personnel make sure that they do not smoke or use mobiles while refuelling. It is not advisable to park the machine near a place which poses fire hazard (Workshops where welding, grinding, gas cutting etc is underway, bonfires etc).

NOTICE: Any damage to the machine due to non-adherence of the above guidelines and instructions may lead the warranty void for the machine.

4. Engine Water Temperature Gauge Engine Water temperature gauge indicates the engine Water temperature. It is recommended that the Water temperature gauge niddle should be in a green zone during operation. If the Temperature goes beyond green zone, stop the Engine and investigate.

5. Neutral Indicator This indicator comes ON when the drive lever is in neutral position. Engine can be started only when the drive is in neutral position.

6. Battery Non Charging Indicator Whenever the battery is being charged the indicator goes OFF. During normal operation the indicator does not glow, which indicated that the battery is being charged. This indicator comes on when the ignition is switched ON but the engine has yet not started. If the battery non-charging indicator comes ON during the operation of the maintenance, switch OFF the machine immediately and find out the reason for non-charging.

11. Hydraulic Filter Clog Indicator This indicator comes ON when the hydraulic oil filter clogs.

Stop the machine operation and replace the filter element.

Running the machine after filter clogging will contaminate the hydraulic circuit and can cause extensive damage to the hydraulic system.

13. Ignition Switch The ignition switch on the machine can be operated only with the key provided with the machine. To connect the battery to the ignition circuit, insert the key, turn clockwise by 90 degrees, Battery non-charging indicator (Item No 8) & low lub oil pressure indicator (Item No 12) will come on.

Now the engine can be started.

14. Horn Button Press the horn button to blow horn.

Commissioning operation The following pre-operation checks has to be carried out every day before starting the engine.

• Check the fuel level in the fuel tank and top up if required. ○ Fill in diesel fuel in time so as to avoid unnecessary bleeding of the fuel system. ○ Do not spill diesel fuel on the engine. ○ If the fuel system has been run empty, it is necessary to bleed air from the system.

• Check hydraulic oil level in the tank and top up if required.

• Check engine oil and top up if required.

• Visually check for leakages and damages to electrical components and connections.

• Visually inspect and ensure that all the doors and covers are closed and locked. No tools like spanners, screw drivers should be left on the machine.

During the first 50 h of operation (new machine or after an engine build), make sure you do the following: • Operate the machine in normal loads for the first 50 h.

• Do not work the engine hard at stall speeds (Machine slowly turning or stopped and the engine running at full throttle).

• Keep the engine at normal operating temperature.

• Do not run the engine at idle speed for long periods of time.

Engine speed It is suggested that you run the engine at full throttle when operating conditions permit and when safe.

Do not run the engine at idle speed for long periods. This can cause low operating temperature. Low operating temperature can cause acids and deposition in the engine oil.

Turn the ignition key clockwise and hold the key for few seconds to START the engine.

ATTENTION: Do not actuate the Ignition key (15)for more than 5 seconds for engine starting.When attempting to start the engine, wait for one minute before trying again. Do not turn the Ignition key while engine is running as it will damage the starter motor.

After the Engine has picked up and warning lights like Low lub. oil pressure indicator (3) and battery non-charging indicator (8)should go off.

ATTENTION: Machine must be operated (Travel & Vibration) in high engine rpm only.

10. Run engine at low idle speed for 2-3 minutes. Thereafter move the throttle lever forward to increase the speed of the engine. At the maximum position the engine will be operating in full speed.

Stopping the unit

Stopping the unit SETTING MACHINE OUT OF OPERATION : • Before you leave the machine, make sure the machine is parked on a level surface. The machine must be on level ground before you do scheduled maintenance.

• Rotate frequency selector switch to neutral ( at centre) to stop vibration.

• Rotate drum selector switch to centre (both drums) if it was selected during operation.

• Then bring FNR lever to neutral to stop travelling.

• Put on parking brake toggle switch during parking the M/C on slope to prevent the M/C roll back.

• Bring Throttle lever to low idle position.

• Pull the stop cable knob until Engine stops. Low lub. oil pressure indicator & battery non-charging indicator should glow.

• Turn ignition key anti-clockwise. all indicator should go off.

• Switch off all the MCBs. • Secure the machine by means of drum chocks and / or stone / rocks if necessary.

NOTICE: Shutting down the engine when at a higher idle RPM will damage the turbocharger.

NOTE: If you must temporarily park the machine on a hillside, put the front of the machine toward the bottom of the hill. Make sure the machine is behind an object that will not move.

Moving the unit

To test the parking brake: ○ Ensure the operator’s seat is in normal position. ○ Ensure that articulation joint arrestor is disengaged. ○ Ensure that parking brake is not engaged (parking brake should be in off position). ○ Start up the engine. ○ Increase the engine speed to full throttle. ○ Travel forward on slope.

○ On slope put the travel controller (FNR) lever in neutral and engage the parking brake & shutdown the engine. ○ Parking brake will hold the machine. ○ Contact your dealer for services as needed.

2. The hydrostatic system constitutes the service brake thus a separate service brake in not required. The spring loaded multiple disc brakes in the front travel motor serves as a parking brake.

Operating the machine : 1. Drive the machine with the drive lever (FNR) in to the desired driving direction. If the drive lever is moved forward from neutral position, the machine will move forward. If the drive lever is moved backward from neutral position the machine will move backward. The speed will increase, the more the lever is moved forward or backward.

2. For braking, move the drive lever out of the respective forward or reverse driving position to the neutral position.

3. During parking in slope, put on parking brake switch (P) (25) to apply parking brake.

SETTING THE EXCITER INTO OPERATION (VIBRATION) : 1. Start the engine according to the procedure given above.

2. Start travelling (Moving forward or reverse direction) the M/C in working speed (Put OFF high speed switch - (26).

3. Turn vibration frequency selector rotary switch to left to select low frequency & high amplitude or to right to select high frequency & low amplitude.

4. To select single drum vibration, first select rear drum or front drum vibration by rotating drum selector rotary switch left or right in machine natural & then start travelling M/C in forward / reverse motion of M/C and then rotate frequency selector switch to left or right to start vibration in single drum .

SETTING SPRINKLER INTO OPERATION To start water pump , first switch ON water pump switch (20) and to control water pump flow , rotate water controller knob (24)in clockwise direction and set pump flow according to your requirement.

SETTING OTHER FEATURES INTO OPERATION: Switch ON/OFF parking light, head lamp ,rear light, side indicator hazard if required. Move the operator seat by pulling the seat locking knob if required.

NOTE: To switch on head lamp, parking light must put ON first. After switch ON parking light & head lamp put ON upper/ dimmer beam as required.

• Will moving the machine cause damage to drive train or moving parts that lack lubrication?

To release brake, Compress the spring washer, by pulling the piston using a stud, nut and a drilled plate pressing on a brake casing. Tighten the stud in the piston, then the nut against drilled plate until the motor shaft turns freely. Now machine can be towed to the required distance.

NOTE: The towing speed should not exceed 3.0 km/h (1.9 mph). Restrict any towing operation to the bare minimum.

Operating the machine at high altitudes NOTICE: Engine power is affected by the environment in which the machine is operated. The machine may be used up to a maximum altitude of 3500 m (11483 ft).

As altitude increases, the atmospheric pressure and specific gravity of intake air decrease, which in turn reduces engine performance.

If the engine emits black smoke at altitudes of over 1500 m (4921.26 ft),contact your authorized dealer.

Operating the machine at high temperatures and humidity The higher the air temperature and humidity, the lower the engine performance. Both factors reducing performance are dependent on each other: • With every 10 °C (50 °F) of temperature increase, power drops by up to 4% (at constant 30% relative humidity) • For higher relative humidity the duration increases by 2% for 20% rise in relative humidity above 30% relative humidity.

Open the engine hood. More hot air will escape the engine compartment and improve engine cooling. Lock the engine hood when the temperature and humidity decreases.

NOTE: ISO VG 68 oil to used maximum permissible temperature is 85 °C (185 °F).

Operating the machine at low temperatures NOTICE: Normal engine coolant operating temperature is 75 – 100 °C (167 – 212 °F).

NOTICE: The machine may only be used at its full capacity after fluid has been heated to it’s minimum operating temperature.

NOTICE: ISO VG68 oil to be used and never start the machine below -6.0 °C (21.2 °F).

Preparation for work at any condition 1. Check concentration of the engine coolant.

2. Replace the engine oil with one recommended for the given range of low ambient temperatures.

3. Use hydraulic oil of corresponding kinematic viscosity.

4. Replace the drum fluid with one recommended for the given operating temperature range of the transmission.

5. Use winter fuel.

6. Check that the batteries are charged.

NOTE: If necessary, remove the batteries and store them in a warm room prior to operation. Warming the batteries to approximately 20 °C (68 °F) will lower the maximum cold starting temperature an additional 4 – 5 °C ( 7.2 – 9.0 °F).

When working in an extremely dusty environment, shorten the intervals between: • Cleaning the aftercooler.

• Cleaning the radiator grill.

NOTE: The air filter element has to be cleaned only when the clog indicator comes ON. NOTE: The recommended cleaning interval is a minimum of once a week.

When operating the machine with vibration on hard materials (e.g. stony loose material), or with high level of base material compacting, there can be a loss of contact between the drum and the material compacted, called vibro-stroke.

Vibro-stroke can be detected through increased vibration transfer to the machine frame and the operator control stand.

Reduce the possibility of vibro-stroke by increasing the travel speed or use the vibration switch to select the lower amplitude setting.

If it is necessary to operate the machine under conditions in which the operator could be exposed to increased vibrations, then the machine operator is obligated to adjust work procedures to prevent impairment of the operator’s health.

NOTICE: When driving for long distances, 1-hour cooling breaks after 3 hours of driving should be taken. Failing that, you are exposed to the risk of damage to the machine for which the manufacturer is not responsible.

1. Start the machine. Follow the starting procedure on Engine - Operating.

2. Adjust the engine throttle control to the desired setting. Full throttle is recommended for working operations.

3. Confirm the travel speed switch is OFF. NOTE: If the travel speed switch is ON you will not be able to engage vibration mode.

4. Disengage the parking brake switch.

5. Check that the area is clear and sound the horn before moving the machine.

NOTE: Engage the vibration selection before the machine starts to move and stop the machine before changing the vibration selection.

6. Select the desired vibration amplitude. High position – high frequency, low amplitude. Recommended for granular materials. Low position – low frequency, high amplitude. Recommended for cohesive materials.

NOTE: Press the vibration button on the travel controller to engage or disengage vibration mode.

7. Use the travel controller (FNR) lever to move the machine forward or reverse.

8. Always use caution when traveling across a slope. When possible always travel uphill or downhill but in some applications traveling across the slope is necessary so be aware.

Maintenance 1. General Remove any residues of material immediately after working on asphalt. Check the machine visually for contamination and clean, if necessary.

Retighten the screws and bolts, if necessary. If the machine is in standstill for a long period, check all functions at regular intervals.

Visually inspect the machine for • Cracks on important components and welds • Condition of elastic suspensions • Leakages for fuel, engine oil, hydraulic oil, air intake system.

2. BATTERY Check the electrolyte level in the cell every 100 hours. It should be 10 to 15 mm above the plates. If necessary, top up using distilled water. Check the electrolyte level more frequently in summer. Ensure that the connecting and cable terminals are quite clean, tight and coated with petroleum jelly or Vaseline.

Magic Eye : A "Magic Eye" is provided on battery. If it is green battery is charged. If it is white, battery needs to be charged .And it will be red if battery is discharged.

Checking the charging conditions : Check the charging conditions of the battery every 200 hours using an acid hydrometer. In winter, it is essential that the battery be well charged, as the electrolyte in a discharged battery freezes more easily than in a battery that is well charged.

Precautions : Never approach the batteries with a naked flame. Handle the metallic wrench carefully to avoid touching the battery housing or the connector strips on top of the batteries

4. HYDRAULIC OIL FILTER : The Hydraulic oil filter provided on this machine is a medium pressure filter equipped with a hydraulic oil clog sensor. There is a hydraulic oil filter clog indicator provided on the control panel which glows whenever the filter element clogs. Hydraulic oil filter element should be replaced once in every 500 hours or whenever it clogs, whichever is earlier.

To change the filter element Loosen the filter cover from filter assembly and remove it together with the filter element.

Check the seal rings below the filter cover and replace them if necessary.

Install new filter element and refit the cover.

NOTE: Use only specified and genuine hydraulic oil filter.

5. MOUNTING RUBBER PADS Check rubber pads for cracks and distortion. Measure crack depth with a straight edge. If depth of crack exceeds 15 mm, replace rubber pads

7. REAR TANK : HYDRAULIC OIL TANK For checking the hydraulic oil level in the hydraulic tank, park the machine on the level ground. The hydraulic oil level should be at the centre of the hydraulic oil level sight glass provided at the LH side of the Hydraulic tank. If the oil level is less remove the filler cover and top up using specified oil. Replace hydraulic oil once in 1000 hours.

WATER TANK Check the internal water tank walls for corrosion, Renew the protective coating, if necessary. Open the cover and fill both the front and rear water tanks with clean water when the water tanks is empty or when buzzer in the water pump programmer alarms.

8..FRONT TANK : FUEL TANK: The fuel tank must be filled only when the engine is off.

The tank should be filled away from naked flames or any other source of heat (Cigarette etc.). The fuel tank is provided with a strainer and a cover lid with a vent hole.

Clean the cover lid so as to prevent clogging of the vent therein Ensure that the strainer is always clean and not removed while filling fuel. Drain the sediments/ water from the fuel tank (Preferably every day) by loosening the drain plug provided at the bottom of the tank by few threads.

Retighten the plug after the fuel starts flowing out.

Cleaning of nozzle : Remove the nozzles by opening the nuts and clean the Nozzle with pin. Refit the nozzle after cleaning.

Air Venting Remove the plug at the front of water pump and run the pump to remove air from the system. After removal of air retighten the plug.

10. STEERING CYLINDERS : Clean surroundings of the steering cylinder bearings and clean the grease nipple.

Inject EP 2 grease through the grease nipple with the aid of a grease gun every 10 hours.

11. HYDRAULIC OIL COOLER : An adequate capacity hydraulic oil cooler is provided in the hydraulic system. This oil cooler is mounted in front of radiator. It is essential to keep hydraulic oil cooler clean always. Clean the hydraulic oil cooler once in every 100 hours. This is an aluminium cooler and can be easily cleaned with a jet of water or compressed air. Air should be applied from inside to outside.

12. RADIATOR : Why radiator coolant A coolant is filled into the cooling system of your machine to provide protection from heating, corrosion and scaling. The radiator coolant in your machine is a Pre-mix Extended Life Coolant and doesn't need any further dilution or addition of any other chemical or water. It should not be added with any other coolant or water before adding it into the radiator.

Drain the system after 2000 Hrs of engine operation or one year whichever is earlier and refill it with fresh genuine CASE " cool power " engine coolant.

You should check the level of coolant daily. The coolant level should be between minimum & maximum marking given on recovery tank (1) in machine "OFF" condition.

NOTE: The care should be taken while opening the radiator cap, if the engine is hot.

NOTICE: If the coolant is lost from the system due to any problem and the level drops below the minimum level, always top it up with genuine CASE "Cool Power" engine coolant only. Addition of any other coolant or dilution with water will reduce the life of coolant and equipment. Don't use the used coolant for top up.

13. EXCITER : Changing oil in the exciter : Keep the machine on the level ground. Turn the drum until oil plug is vertically positioned below the drum axis centre. Clean surroundings of the plug Unscrew oil plug. Oil will run out. Drain the oil completely and fill in with the fresh oil (3.5 liters per drum) every 1000 hours. Screw in oil plug and tighten.

Frequency Meter with range : 1000 - 4000/min Start the engine, set it to operating speed and switch on the exciter with the exciter switch.

Measure the engine speed. The rated value should be 2200 RPM. Measure the low and high frequency at the drums. It should be

14. DRUM BEARING : The drum bearing is located on the vibration motor side.

Greasing should be done at an interval of 2000 h. Open the grease nipple for draining at bottom side of bearing assembly. Take grease hand pump and fill the grease nipple available at top side of bearing assembly. Apply 95 strokes (approximately 450 g) of grease from hand pump (during the greasing, travel the machine in forward direction with single speed low RPM, no vibration mode and drum to be rotated for one rotation). Make sure old grease should come out from drain port at bottom side of bearing assembly, then plug the port with grease nipple.

NOTE: Greasing at travel bearing i.e. Cross Roller Bearing (CRB) for older machine should be done at 200 h.

8 - SPECIFICATIONS###_9_### Technical features of the machine Technical features of the machine Machine The front roller of this vibratory compactor is connected to the rear part by means of an articulation joint. The roller frame is a welded construction and mounted vibration proof with ant vibration pads at the drum. The rear frame is also a welded construction with a box shaped hollow space at the rear end serving as fuel tank. There is an operator’s stand with sun roof on top, with the operating and control equipment located on the front part of the operator platform.

Engine The water cooled, 4 cylinders, inline diesel engine is mounted on the rear chassis in the longitudinal direction. This engine develops 56 kW (76 Hp) at 2200 RPM as per ISO 3046 Optimum combustion air filtering is guaranteed by dry type, dual element air filter provided with air filter clog indicator. The travel pump is mounted at the flywheel and the vibration pump is mounted at the back of travel pump and coupled to engine through flexible coupling. The engine draws fuel from the fuel tank with a tank capacity of 140.0 L (37.0 US gal) mounted on the rear frame.

Hydraulic system The machine works with the closed loop hydraulic system. A hydraulic oil tank with capacity of 120.0 L (31.7 US gal) supplies hydraulic oil to the steering pump mounted on the engine and to the charge pumps in-built on vibration pump.

The charge pumps inject oil in the return line of closed loop circuit to take care of hydraulic oil losses.

A portion of the oil from the closed loop system is passed through the hydraulic oil cooler mounted on rear frame to achieve the optimum hydraulic oil cooling.

Travel The travel pump mounted at the flywheel side of the engine supplies hydraulic oil to both rear and front drum motors via hoses. The drum drive motor is coupled to the roller drum . The forward and reverse travels are achieved by changing the direction of flow to the motors.

Travel speed range ( 0.0 – 13.0 km/h (0.0 – 8.1 mph) ) and working speed range ( 0.0 – 7.0 km/h (0.0 – 4.3 mph) ) are archived using dual displacement motors and the speed range is selected by a rocker switch on the control panel.

Vibration The vibration pump coupled to the travel pump supplies hydraulic oil to the vibration motor via hoses. The vibration motor in turn drives the shaft thereby vibrating the roller. Dual frequency and dual amplitude are achieved by changing the speed and direction of rotation of vibration motor. Mode of vibration is selected by using the rotary switch provided on the control panel.

Steering system The steering pump mounted on the engine supplies oil to the steering cylinders via the orbital unit located below the operator’s platform. The steering cylinders are connected to the rear frame and their piston rods are connected to the articulation joint, which is connected to the roller.

Electrical system The electrical system consists of a battery, a starter motor and an alternator on the engine. Control panel and other monitoring facilities available in the machine.

The lighting system includes two head lamps with parking light at the front and at the rear.

Brakes The hydrostatic system constitutes the service brake thus a separate service brake is not required. The spring loaded multiple disc brakes in the rear propulsion motor serves as a parking brake.

Operator’s area and sun roof The operator’s area is equipped with one seat. A sunroof is provided above the seat which provides protection against sunlight during operation. Seat is so positioned that the operator can easily watch the LH and RH drum edge during forward and reverse travel. The seat can also rotate 90° to the right side for better visibility.

1. Engine Water cooled, 4-cylinders, diesel engine in mounted on the rear chassis in the longitudinal direction. This engine is manufactured by Kirloskar Oil Engines Ltd and it delivers 76BHP at 2200 RPM.

2. Travel Pump The front part (flywheel side) of this pump unit is the Travel pump. This is a infinitely variable displacement axial piston type pump manufactured by Sauer Danfoss.

3. Vibration Pump This is a variable displacement axial piston pump.

4. Steering Pump This gear type steering pump Mounted at the side of the engine & supplies hydraulic oil to the steering cylinders, actuates the servo piston of the propulsion and vibration pump, injects oil in the return line to overcome the hydraulic oil losses i.e. acting as a charge pump.

5. Front Travel Motor This is a radial piston, Low Speed, High Torque motor Hydraulic (G4 PH Motor) or (G3 Motor).

6. Rear Travel Motor This is a radial piston, Low speed High Torque motor with spring applied hydraulic release parking brake.(G4) or G3 motor with brake.

7. Vibration Motor (Front & Rear) This is a fixed displacement axial piston type motor manufactured by Hydromatik or SAUER DANFOSS.

8. Steering Unit The steering unit is mounted on the operator’s stand. This steering unit supplies hydraulic oil to the steering cylinders proportional to the rotation of the steering wheel. This unit is also called as orbitrol.

9. Steering Cylinders The steering cylinders are connected to the rear frame and their piston rods are connected to the articulation joint.

10. Front Tank The rear portion of this tank serves as the fuel tank and the front portion as the water tank.

Water Tank The capacity of the tank is 400 litres. The inside of the tank is Zinc plated. The water is filtered before going to water sprinkler system using a water filter mounted on the M/C frame near water pump.

The fuel tank 140 L (capacity 140 liters) is provided with two fuel level sight gauges which indicate the diesel level in the tank. A filler cap is provided with a dust filter and a vent hole. A drain plug is provided at the bottom of the fuel tank.

11. Rear Tank The rear portion of this tank serves as the water tank and the front portion serves as the hydraulic oil tank.

Water Tank The capacity of the tank is 400 litres. The inside of the tank is Zinc plated.

Hydraulic Oil Tank The capacity of the tank is 140 litres. The inside of the tank is Zinc plated.

12. Front Roller Frame The front roller frame supports the front roller assembly vibration motor, drum drive motor. This roller frame is connected to the rear chassis by means of an articulation joint.

13. Rear Chassis The rear chassis supports the rear roller assembly, engine, Water Diesel tank, drivers platform etc. This is connected to the front roller frame by means of an articulation joint.

14. Front Drum The front rollers is coupled to the front roller frame through elastic suspension at the RH side and to the propulsion motor through vibration dampers at the LH side.15.Rear Drum Same as Front Drum.

16. Front Exciter Shaft The exciter shaft is supported on two bearings and the vibration motor is coupled to it through coupling. Two floating masses are responsible for providing dual amplitude.

18. Articulation Joint The front rolling part and the rear rolling part are coupled by means of a coupling called articulation joint.

19. Scrapper To remove the asphalt and other particles from the surface of the drums four scrapers provided. Two scrapers are mounted on front roller frame at front & rear of front roller drum and two are mounted on rear chassis frame at front & rear of the rear drum.

20. Sprinkler Tube The water supplied by an electrically operated diaphram type water pump is filtered through the water filter at the suction line and is sprinkled over the entire width of the drums.

21. Elastic Suspension To prevent the vibrations getting transmitted to the chassis, vibrating drums are separated from the machine frames through this elastic suspension.

22. Battery This is 12 V, 130 A•h battery supplying power for engine starting, monitoring devices and to all working lamps.

23. Hydraulic Oil Filter A fine mesh, medium pressure, hydraulic oil filter is used in the servo circuit to remove the contamination from the hydraulic oil.

24. Air Filter A dual element, dry type, heavy duty air filter is provided along with the engine. There is a vacuum indicator which indicates choking of air filter on operator console.

25. Operator’s Seat This cushioned operator’s seat can be traversed to front and back thus enabling the operator to adjust the cushion to maximum comfort. This can be rotated to the right side as well.

26. Radiator A coolant is filled into the cooling system of your machine to provide protection from heating ,corrosion and scalling. The radiator coolant in your machine is a Pre-mix Extended Life Coolant and doesn't need any further dilution or addition of any other chemical or water. It should not be added with any other coolant or water before adding it into the radiator.

27. Hydraulic Oil Cooler The Hydraulic oil filter provided on this machine is a medium pressure filter equipped with a hydraulic oil clog sensor. There is a hydraulic oil filter clog indicator provided on the control panel which glows whenever the filter element clogs. Hydraulic oil filter element should be replaced once in every 500 hours or whenever it clogs, whichever is earlier.
