3. Removal
1.Park the truck on a level surface and make sure load wheels are blocked to prevent accidental movement. 2.Disconnect and remove battery from unit to prevent accidental operation. 3.Open access door on front of truck and remove from truck by lifting off hinge pins. 4.Remove kick panel around transmission. 4.Remove control handle stem assembly (1) (See Ccode 4100 for more information). 5.Disconnect wire harness plug, located between housing (13) and control panel also disconnect brake harness at that point. 6.Remove brake switch mounting bracket (3) by removing two bolts (11). 7.Remove handle wiring harness from housing (13). 8.Disconnect power cables from drive motor. Label and remove from transmission case and housing.
Cables may be left attached to control panel on truck. 9.Remove brake application spring connecting brake lever to brake linkage. Spring is located just above brake drum on end of drive motor. Disconnect brake linkage from lever. 10.Remove set screw (16) and pin (15) to release brake linkage in handle pivot casting. Brake linkage cannot be removed from the transmission assembly at this time. 11.Remove six bolts (4) that secure housing (13) to transmission. Lift housing from transmission.
Transmission assembly is secured to truck frame with bolts that mount pivot handle. When released transmission can fall away frame truck causing injury.

12.Use overhead lifting device to lift truck off of transmission. Bearing (18) may be tight on transmission tube.
WARNING
Transmission must be supported to keep it from falling over when tube clears truck frame. When released transmission can fall away frame truck causing injury.
13.Remove transmission from under truck.
