A. Inspect the switch body for cracks, bends and impact damage. Replace the switch if any damage is detected.

B. Inspect the connector body for cracks and impact damage. Inspect the locking tangs for damage which might prevent proper harness connector installation and seating. Replace the switch if any damage is detected. Inspect the terminals for any damage which might prevent proper seating with mating terminals. Reference Troubleshooting Manual TS3192 for terminal replacement procedures and ohmmeter pin-out checks. C. Inspect the splash shield for cracks, bends and deformities. Replace the switch assembly if the splash shield is damaged. D. Inspect the splash shield retainer for cracks and deformities. The retainer is non-serviceable and is included with a new switch. Switches which are reused can be installed without the retainer (the selector lever and nut will retain the shield).
