A. Inspect the main housing for impact damage, chips and cracks. Inspect threaded holes for damage, stripping and cracking. Replace the main housing if damage cannot be repaired. B. Inspect the sealing surface and
machined bore at the front of the
main housing for nicks, burrs, scratches, scoring and other damage which might cause improper sealing or component seating. Replace the housing if damage cannot be repaired using a light stone or crocus cloth. C. Inspect the sealing surface at the rear of the main housing for nicks, burrs, scratches, scoring and other damage which might cause improper sealing or component seating. Replace the housing if damage cannot be repaired using a light stone or crocus cloth. D. Inspect the PTO mounting pad surfaces for nicks, burrs, scratches, scoring and other damage which might cause improper sealing or PTO seating. Replace the housing if damage cannot be repaired using a light stone or crocus cloth. E,G,H,I. Inspect machined bores for nicks, burrs, scratches, scoring and other damage which might cause improper sealing or component seating. Replace the housing if damage cannot be repaired using a light stone or crocus cloth.

F. Inspect splines for step wear, twisting, chips, burrs and signs of battering. Replace the main housing if damage cannot be repaired using a soft stone or crocus cloth.
J. The identification plate contains information necessary to perform service work on the transmission. The model number, serial number, electronic "E" number and date of manufacture are included, as well as individual component group numbers which are used to identify specific components used to build each major section of the transmission. Remove and reattach the plate if it is not securely riveted to the transmission main housing.
