– Hexashift (A) set (gears under couple 1 to 6).

– Adaptation of the Hexashift gears when changing ranges.

– Revershift (B) set (forward/reverse).

– Robotized ranges set (C) ((A) to (D)).

– "Skip Shift".

– Slow range set (D) (400 m/h crawler).

– Programmable manoeuver gear.

– Extra slow range set (D) (crawler 110 km/h).

The gearbox automations are the following:

– Adjustment of Revershift progressivity.

– Placing the gear box in neutral.

– A multiplier (1a).

– Module 4 “Powershift” (1b).

The multiplier (1a) is mainly composed of an epicyclic gear train (3) and a brake clutch (F)/(E). The 4 “Powershift” module is mainly composed of 2 epicyclic trains : – A primay train (1).

– A secondary train (2).

– 2 brake clutches, (B)/(A) and (D)/(C) respectively.

The “Hexashift” module allows to obtain 6 gears under torque, including : – 4 with the 4 “Powershift” (1b) module.

– 2 with the (1a) multiplier.

Checking the rating pressure of the accumulators Test conditions : – Increase the temperature of the hydraulic circuit until the accumulator reaches 60°C. – Disconnect the accumulator to discharge it hydraulically.

Checking the nirogen load – Connect tester n°60 0570 630 6 onto the nitrogen chamber of the accumulator.

The pressure should be 11 bar.

Hydraulic control – Remove the accumulators and connect them one after the other to a manual hydraulic pump fitted with a pressure gauge.

– Pressurize up to 25 bars and open the tap to create a 2 bar leak and then close immediately.

The accumulator must compensate pressure, by returning pressure of the pressure gauge to is initial position.

The solenoid valves are on/off solenoid valves, controlled in on/off. The solenoid valves are supplied with hashed current “PWM”.

After starting the engine (stop exceeding 20s), the “Hexashift” module is in gear 4 as long as the transmission neutral has not been released. After starting the engine (stop below 20s), the “Hexashift” module is in the current gear when the engine was stopped. When the user presses continuously ‘gear +’ or ‘gear –’, the + function is activated. Electronic protection: “Hexashift” gear monitoring is ensured by the “TR2” module. It compares

the reverter output speed with that of the engine. It uses it to deduct an “Hexashift” gear from it. Protection against overrevving: Downshifting is authorized if gear changing does not produce an engine speed exceeding 2 820 rev/ min. When the oil temperature is below – 10°C, only the “A4”, “B4”, “C4” gears are accessible. When the oil temperature exceeds 105 °C, the indicator is lit on the instrument panel. When oil pressure is below the activation pressure of the control pressure switch, the “Hexashift” switches automatically to gear 4 in the range engaged.

Calibrating the clutches – Version “Cebis”

Purpose: Owing to mechanical, hydraulic and electrical differences, load pressure varies from one tractor to another. This pressure requires to be measured and adjusted to ensure smooth engagement.

Calibration must be performed if the temperature of the transmission oil ranges between 30°C and 60°C (The temperature of the transmission oil can be viewed on the “Cebis” terminal: see user manual).

– Position the tractor on a flat horizontal surface.

– Check that the hydraulic activation switch (1) is set to “off”.

– If the tractor is fitted with a suspended front axle, check that the “Pro’Activ” (2) front suspension switch is set to “off”.

Functional logic In order to adapt the tractor's behaviour, the "Revershift" unit is subject to the following laws:

current always equals the piloting setting (evolution of solenoid temperature).

– automatic piloting (lever).

Manual adjustment of progressivity: Progressivity can be adjusted manually (via the "C.I.S." or "Cebis"). The function is memorized by the "TR2" transmission module.

– manual piloting (pedal).

– Hexashift gear change.

– robotized range shift.

A driving direction or a shift to neutral is selected by the user. According to the piloting performed, the "TR1" module adapts pressure in the clutches concerned. To check proper operation of the clutch, the transmission module compares speed at the reverser output with the engine speed. This comparison checks reverser slipping as well as the ratio of the Hexashift module. The solenoid valves are proportional, supplied with hashed current "PWM".

Calibration: Clutch calibration is required to obtain identical behaviour in all tractors.

This automatic calibration allows learning 2 parameters.

– Filling time.

– Lick pressure.

Temperature compensation: To compensate hydromechanical drift related with variations in transmission temperatures, the filling times and licking pressure are adjusted constantly over a range of – 30 to 110 °C.

Regulation of solenoid valve current: The hashed current filling rate is adjusted permanently to ensure the actual

Robot-driven ranges Hydraulic piloting part The low pressure hydraulic circuit is regulated at 21 bar by the low pressure circuit pressure regulator. It is protected against overpressures by the “7029” pressure limiter. The accumulator “5015” protects the circuit against hammering. The 4 On/Off solenoid valves have 3 holes and 2 positions to set the jack chambers either to the tank

or under pressure. To engage a gear, a jack chamber must be supplied. To return the slider to neutral, both jack chambers must be supplied simultaneously, in order to balance pressure on each side of the piston, hence returning it to neutral. Then these pressures can be cut simultaneously in order to preserve neutral.

When shifting from the "C" range to the "D" range, the most appropriate ratio under torque is selected (see Speed Matching). The range engaged is monitored by the “TR2” module.

– Initially, it compares the solenoid valves supplied according to the active sensor.

– Then, it compares the theoretical speed according to the transmission engine speed. This comparison gives a precise range which must correspond to that engaged.

When monitoring shows an anomaly, the "TR2" module prevents any range shifting and any re-clutching of the

reverter. Only its neutral setting remains functional. Any gear change resulting in a speed exceeding 2 820 rev/min is forbidden. When the slow range is active, the "C" and "D" ranges are not accessible. When the oil temperature is below -10°C, only the "A4", "B4", "C" gears are accessible. When the oil temperature exceeds 105°C, the diagnostic lamp lights on the dashboard. When the oil pressure is below the pressure switch activation pressure, the range module stays in the state before the pressure drop.

Start ratio Functional logic The starting gear function allows memorizing a tractor starting gear according to its operating mode, from "A1" to "D1" Finally, two gears can be memorized.

– A start gear active in 'Hexactiv/road' mode. This start gear is used to take control of the transmission. After "Revershift" or 'pedal' return to neutral this allows to reengage a specific gear. It is activated by pressing the

"on" button in the "Cebis" submenus or in the submenu on the starting gear in the "C.I.S." version.

– When the previous mode is not active, a second start gear is programmable.

– After an engine stop > 20 s, the Hexactive/road starting gear is no longer active, it is in the "off" mode.

Functional logic The transmission computer makes sequenced gear changes (every 1,4 seconds) until the manouvre gear is reached when changing down and every 1,4 seconds when changing up. The manoeuvre gear mode is cancelled when the engine is stopped. The manoeuvre

gear is recorded before the engine is stopped. The maneouvering gear causes the disengaging of the "Hexactiv" automation and exiting the gear causes reengaging.

Work mode In the working mode, the manoeuvre gear operates only in the currently selected range. Selecting Range + or Range causes the immediate cancellation of the manoeuvre gear mode.

Road mode In transport mode, it runs in all ranges.

"Speed Matching" Functional logic "Speed matching" is used when the tractor is in idle wheel and transmission is about to clutch. Before clutching, the transmission module "TR2" engages the "Hexashift" gear, which equalizes at best the "Revershift" output shaft and "Revershift" input shaft speeds. The "Revershift" input speed corresponds to engine speed multiplied by the ratio of the Hexashift module. The "Revershift" output speed corresponds to speed according to the robotized range ratio + differential + final reductions. The user requests a range change : – When passing the synchronizers, the idle gear moves differently according to the load and random passing of synchronizers.

– After the "new range engaged" info, the "TR2" module calculates and shifts into the most appropriate "Hexashift" gear.

– During this time, the "TR1" module clutches the reverter under torque.

In "D" range : – the user fully depresses the clutch pedal then releases it (without touching the reverter palette, otherwise tyhe system considers it is a reversion, and stays in the same "Hexashift" gear).

– the user raises the palette (while moving in one direction) to declutch, then lays it again (in the same driving direction, otherwise it is considered as being a reversion).

– To avoid the tractor from running away, the "Hexashift" gearbox gear is never larger than what it was before initiating idle wheel.

– Unless overspeeding safety plans an excessive engine peak, in which case the range does not change the gear, the "Hexashift" gear adapts to have less than 2 820 rev/ min, while being as close to the initial gear as possible.
