When also equipped w ith an in-line fuel
filte r, it w ill be necessary to change this carburetor fuel inlet filte r only at each 2 4 ,0 0 0 mile interval.
Governor The attaching bolts should be kept tight, the optionally available governor should be kept clean externally and the filter elem ent should be replaced every 12,000 miles.
CLUTCH AND TRANSMISSIONS CLUTCH The clutch pedal free travel should be checked at regular intervals. L ubricate the clutch cross-shaft at fitting every 6000 miles w ith w ater resistant EP chassis lubricant. C lutch and Brake Pedal Springs Lubricate w ith engine oil every 6000 miles.
SYNCHROMESH TRANSMISSIONS 3-Speed and 4-S peed -ev ery 6,000 miles or 4 m o n th s-c h e c k at operating tem perature and fill as necessary to level o f filler plug hole w ith SAE 80 or SAE 80-90 m ulti-purpose gear lubricant m eeting requirem ents o f U. S. O rdnance Spec. MIL-L-2105-B.

G eneral M otors DEXRON ® A utom atic Transmission Fluid, P art num bers 1050568, 1050569, 1050570 w hich has been especially form ulated and tested for use in y o u r autom atic transm ission is recom m ended. O ther A utom atic Transmission Fluids identified w ith the m ark DEXRON ® or equivalent are also recom m ended. Every 24,000 miles** (m ore frequently, depending on severity o f service, if vehicle is used to pull trailers, carry full loads during high am bient tem peratures, operate in m o u n tain ous terrain or operate u nder oth er severe co nditions)—Remove fluid from the transm ission sum p and add 2 quarts U.S. measure (1-2/3 quarts Im perial m easure) o f fresh fluid. O per ate transm ission through all ranges and check fluid level as described above. It is n o t necessary to remove the pan because a drain plug is provided. **This recom m endation applies on ly to 10 Series Models. For 20-30 Series M odels drain period should be every 1 2 ,0 0 0 miles.
Powerglide Low Band Adjustment A t the first transm ission fluid change, adjust the Powerglide low band.
TURBO HYDRA -M A TIC 350 L ubrication o f your T urbo Hydra-M atic will, except for fluid capacity, follow the Powerglide transm ission recom m en dations. A fter checking transm ission fluid level it is im portant th a t the dipstick be pushed all the w ay into th e fill tube. Every 24,000 miles—after removing fluid from the trans mission sum p, add approxim ately 2 l/ i qts. U.S. measure (2 qts. Im perial m easure) for the T urbo Hydra-M atic 350 o f fresh fluid, to retu rn level to proper m ark on the dipstick.
Every 6,000 miles or 4 m o n th s—lubricate shift linkage and, on M anual transm ission floor control, lever contacting faces w ith w ater resistant EP chassis lubricant w hich m eets GM Specification GM 6 0 3 1M.
Transmission Controls The steering colum n m anual shift m echanism on xh T on and % T on m odels equipped w ith 3 speed transm ission is factory lubricated and should n o t require periodic lubrication. H ow ever, should the shifting effo rt becom e noticeably greater, lubricate all linkage points w ith engine oil.
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS
REAR AXLES Check lubricant level every 6 ,0 0 0 miles. When necessary, refill to level o f filler plug hole using “M ulti-Purpose” gear lubricant m eeting U.S. A rm y ORD. Spec. MIL-L-2105B as show n in the following “ Gear L ubricant Viscosity T able.”

POWERGLIDE TRANSMISSION EV ER Y 6,000 MILES—Check fluid level on dipstick. For an accurate oil level check, drive the vehicle several miles making freq u en t stops and starts to bring the transm ission up to norm al operating tem perature (approxim ately 180°-190°F.). When checking the oil, park the vehicle on a level surface, place the selector lever in “P ark” and w ith the engine running, note reading. A dd oil only w ith the transm ission h o t and the oil level at the ADD m ark. The am ount o f oil required under these conditions is one pint. DO NOT O V ER FILL.
O n 20 or 30 series trucks drain th e lubricant every 24,000 miles. If th e vehicle is operated in exceptionally heavy w ork or a t continuous high speeds, th e lubricant should be changed every 12,000 miles. It m ay be necessary to change lubricant m ore often if vehicle is used o ff road in dusty areas.
POSITRACTION Same as standard axle b u t use only the special P ositraction lubricant.
