ELECTRICAL—BODY AND CHASSIS
NO TE: When also equipped with an in-line fuel filter, it will be necessary to change this carburetor fuel inlet filter only at each 24,000 mile interval.
Governor
The attaching bolts should be kept tight, the optionally available governor should be kept clean externally and the filter elem ent should be replaced every 12,000 miles.

CLUTCH
The clutch pedal free travel should be checked at regular intervals.
Lubricate the clutch cross-shaft at fitting every 6000 miles w ith water resistant EP chassis lubricant.
Clutch and Brake Pedal Springs
Lubricate with engine oil every 6000 miles.
SYNCHROMESH TRANSMISSIONS
3-Speed and 4-Speed-every 6,000 miles or 4 m o n th s-check at operating tem perature and fill as necessary to level of filler plug hole w ith SAE 80 or SAE 80-90 m ulti-purpose gear lubricant meeting requirem ents o f U. S. Ordnance Spec. MIL-L-2105-B.
Transmission Shift Linkage (Manual and Automatic)

Every 6,000 miles or 4 m onths—lubricate shift linkage and, on Manual transmission floor control, lever contacting faces w ith water resistant EP chassis lubricant which meets GM Specification GM 6 0 3 1M.
Transmission Controls
The steering colum n m anual shift mechanism on xh Ton and % Ton models equipped w ith 3 speed transmission is factory lubricated and should not require periodic lubrication. However, should the shifting effort become noticeably greater, lubricate all linkage points w ith engine oil.
General M otors DEXRON ® A utom atic Transmission Fluid, Part num bers 1050568, 1050569, 1050570 which has been especially form ulated and tested for use in your autom atic transmission is recom m ended. O ther A utom atic Transmission Fluids identified with the mark DEXRON ® or equivalent are also recommended.
Every 24,000 miles** (more frequently, depending on severity o f service, if vehicle is used to pull trailers, carry full loads during high am bient tem peratures, operate in m ountainous terrain or operate under other severe conditions)—Remove fluid from the transmission sump and add 2 quarts U.S. measure (1-2/3 quarts Imperial measure) o f fresh fluid. O perate transmission through all ranges and check fluid level as described above. It is no t necessary to remove the pan because a drain plug is provided.

POWERGLIDE TRANSMISSION
EVERY 6,000 MILES—Check fluid level on dipstick. For an accurate oil level check, drive the vehicle several miles making frequent stops and starts to bring the transmission up to norm al operating tem perature (approxim ately 180°-190°F.). When checking the oil, park the vehicle on a level surface, place the selector lever in “Park” and with the engine running, note reading. Add oil only w ith the transmission h o t and the oil level at the ADD mark. The am ount o f oil required under these conditions is one pint. DO NOT OVERFILL.
O n 20 or 30 series trucks drain the lubricant every 24,000 miles. If the vehicle is operated in exceptionally heavy work or at continuous high speeds, the lubricant should be changed every 12,000 miles. It may be necessary to change lubricant m ore often if vehicle is used o ff road in dusty areas.
**This recommendation applies only to 10 Series Models. For 20-30
Series Models drain period should be every 12,000 miles.
Powerglide Low Band Adjustment
A t the first transmission fluid change, adjust the Powerglide low band.
TURBO HYDRA -M ATIC 350
Lubrication o f your T urbo Hydra-Matic will, except for fluid capacity, follow the Powerglide transmission recom m endations. A fter checking transm ission fluid level it is im portant th at the dipstick be pushed all the way into the fill tube.
Every 24,000 miles—after removing fluid from the transmission sum p, add approxim ately 2l/i qts. U.S. measure (2 qts. Imperial measure) for the T urbo Hydra-Matic 350 o f fresh fluid, to return level to proper m ark on the dipstick.
