Thischapterprovidesvitalinformationforyoursafety. Payspecialattentiontothischapter.Thesafetyinstructionsandrules ofprocedurewillhelpyoutoavoidhazardoussituationsandtoperform thenecessaryworkassafelyaspossible.
Themachinehasbeenmanufacturedinaccordancewiththestateof theartandgenerallyrecognizedsafetystandardsandregulations. Youandotherscanneverthelessbeexposedtodangeroussituations e.g.asaresultofenvironmentalinfluences,machinedamageoroperatorerrors.
Donotmakeanyalterationsormodificationswhichcouldimpairthe safetyofthemachine.AllmodificationsandchangesmustbeapprovedbyCaterpillar.

Operation
Themachinemayonlybeoperatedbyqualified,trainedpersonnel. Themachineisonlyallowedtobeoperatedbyqualifiedpersonnelwho canprovideproofofhavingbeentrainedonthisunit. Readingoftheoperationmanual,especiallythechapteronsafety,shall constituteapartofthistraining.
Youmusthaveadequateknowledgeofthe

■ controlengineering andmustbeabletoprovethisknowledge.
Installationandrepair
Asafundamentalrule,installationandrepairworkmayonlybecarried outbypersonnelwhohavebeenadequatelytrainedfortheseparticular requirements.
