SUPER CARRIER SC8000

The Gardner-Denver Super Carrier SC8000 is a completely self-contained drilling unit designed for high production in quarry operations and on construction projects requiring high tonnage. It incorporates many convenience features for the operator and the mining company. Of particular significance is the operator's cab that. protects him from weather, heat, cold, and noise while providing a comfortable atmosphere.

The SC8000 offers:

• a conventional drill rig combined with a mounted compressor

• a single unit for easier maneuvering - no compressor to tow

• more efficiency with hydraulicpowered components, air-operated drilling

• one-operator convenience

The Super Carrier is designed to drill hole sizes of 3-1/2" to 5" (88.9 mm to 170 mm), utilizing the PR80 or PR66 Valveless Drill. It utilizes a hydraulic cylinder for better control over pulldown pressure, increasing penetration of the drill.

The carrier features hydraulic Drill Feed controlled from the operator's cab. The system also includes a pressurelvolume regulator with pressure relief control. It has a drill steel rack for handling four 20' (6.096 m) sections of drill steel plus one in the drill, for a drilling depth of 100' (30.48 m). To complement the drilling operations, the SC8000 has a pneumatic drill steel breakout tool, plus hydraulic mid-point traveling centralizer with automatic open at the bottom, and a traveling hose reel that maintains tension on all pneumatic hoses to the drill.

The SC8000 utilizes a hydraulic system to operate hydraulic tramming motors, feed cylinders, and dust collector motor for more efficiency and to eliminate traditional cold climate freezing of air motors.

The following photographs highlight features, controls, and components of the SC8000. Functions, operating procedures, and instructions follow.
