FOREWORD
The information contained in this Instruction Manual is intended for the interest and use of personnel responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the equipment supplied by Wormald Fire Systems, Special Projects. This Manual should be studied by all plant personnel and thereafter be available for reference.
Wormald Fire Systems, Special Projects recommend that wherever possible all maintenance procedures/actions be carried out between 9.00am and 5.00pm.
It is recommended that copies of all Inspection and Test Reports are left in the safe keeping of the property owner and the owner's Insurance Company.
In a case where there is any doubt as to the functioning or adjustment of any parts of the plant, or in the event of any trouble which cannot be remedied by reference to the information contained in this book, Wormald Fire Systems, Service Division should be consulted immediately at the following address:

In communication with the Company the contract reference number should always be quoted (IG 419003).
Whilst every care is taken in the preparation of these instructions every detail cannot be covered. Wormald Fire Systems, Special Projects therefore cannot accept liability for direct or consequential damage that my arise from nonobservance of good engineering practices.
The instructions are written on the understanding that the Site Safety Instructions are to be observed at all times; if any instruction in this manual is found to be at variance with the Site Safety Instructions, then the Site Safety Officer must be consulted for a ruling on the procedure to be adopted. Where safety regulations do not exist, or are not clearly defined for the tasks to be performed, then the person performing the tasks must maintain vigilance at all times in order to avoid injury to himself and I or to other people; no part of this manual may be taken to be an instruction to perform a task which even given due vigilance, could result in injury.

WORMALD FIRE SYSTEMS CONTRACT REF: IG 419003
INERGEN WARNINGS
(1) Wormald Fire Systems cannot accept responsibility for pipe fractures due to differential settlement between pipe and building or building and building.
(2) Pipes, scaffolding, ladders or any other item of plant or equipment 'MUST NOT' be attached to or supported from any part of the Inergen system equipment.
(3) Fire protection system detection devices and Inergen distribution nozzles 'MUST NOT' be painted or allowed to accumulate deposits which could impair their operation.
The following safety guidelines should be observed when working within Inergen protected areas:
(4) When working within protected area, temporarily isolate system equipment outputs from Extinguishant Fire Alarm Panel.
Wherever possible personnel should evacuate protected area prior to Inergen release (within pre-discharge time delay)
(5) Ventilate discharge area after fire condition has been extinguished. Personnel entering discharge area prior to ventilation procedures being implemented must wear breathing apparatus.
(6) Guidelines for handling Inergen cylinders:
The Inergen gas is stored in the storage cylinders at a pressure of 200 bar at 15°C. At this pressure if the quick action valve (cylinder valve) was inadvertently operated, or if the valve was accidently damaged or sheared off, the high reactive force produced would cause the cylinder to 'rocket' with consequent risk to life and property.
To avoid such a risk the following instructions on the handling of Inergen cylinders must be adhered to:
Never on load, off load, or transport cylinders unless the screwed transit cap is fitted.
When on loading or off loading always use suitable lifting gear (fork lift truck or hoist)
Never off load cylinders by dropping them onto the ground.
