Yoursafety

Thischapterprovidesvitalinformationforyoursafety.

Payspecialattentiontothischapter.Thesafetyinstructionsand rulesofprocedurewillhelpyoutoavoidhazardoussituationsand toperformthenecessaryworkassafelyaspossible.

Theshieldhasbeenmanufacturedinaccordancewiththestateof theartandgenerallyrecognizedsafetystandardsandregulations. However,acertainriskremainswhichmightgetyouintohazardous situationswhenworkingwithorontheshields.Thesemay,forexample,becausedbyunforeseeableexternalinfluences,machine damageoroperatingerrors.

Inadditiontothisoperatingmanual,alsobesuretoobservethe respectivelegalprovisionsandregulationsforaccidentprevention inyourcountry.

Observethesafetyandaccidentpreventionregulations: J oftheminingcompany, J oftheminingauthority,and J oftheminers’accidentinsuranceassociation.

Personsemployedintheoperation,repair,andoverhaulofhydraulicand/orelectrohydraulicshieldsupportsmusthavespecialqualifications.Inadditiontohavingreceivedtraininginminingskillsthe followingminimumrequirementsshallbemet.

Operationandmaintenance

Operationandmaintenanceoftheshieldsisonlyallowedtobeperformedbytrainedpersonnel.

Thetrainingshallbematchedtothetypeofshieldactuallyused. Theelectrohydraulicandhydrauliccontrolsystemsshallbe operatedonlybypersonnelwhohavebeenadequatelytrainedtooperatethepresentcontrolsystem.Thecontentofthe operating manual,especiallythechapteronsafety,shallconstituteapartof thistraining.

Theyshallpossessandfurnishproofofadequatefamiliaritywith the

J mechanical, J hydraulic,and J controlsystems.
