GENERAL
Theae inatructiona have been prepared to &id in erecting a Marion 7400 Electric Walking Dragline, aa a guide for the operator, the groundman, and the oiler in their operation, maintenance and lubrication. The engineering drawina• whicll accompany the machine, give the exact location of all parta, all neceaaary dimenaiona, etc. It ia very important that extreme care be taken in aaaembly beca11ae improper erection may ca.uae unneceaaary wear and faulty operation of the machine.
When the machine is ahipped from the factory, the part a are match marked throughout. Care should be taken to follow theae match mark• when the machine ia aaaembled.
All finiahed aurfacea and bearing• are protected against corrosion and ahould be thoroughly cleaned just before aaaembly. When assembling, all bearing• ahould be lubricated. Ball and roller bearings are to be filled only 1 / Z full of the proper greaae. Also lubricate all gears and put the proper oil in gear caaea up to the correct level before the machine ia run. All air and electrical equipment, and finiahed surface• should be protected from the weather until the machine ia fully asaembled.
Select a level assembling area adjacent to the unloading point approxirnately 300' x 300 ' preferably made up of aolid material and with good drainage. It may be adviaable to place gravel or cinders in the immediate erection area.
It ia important that the derrick be placed ao that the greatest loads can be lifted without interferring with the erection of the machine. The recommended poaition of thia derrick ia indicated on drawing CR-4585. If the ground ia not level, place the dead men out further than the 300' indicated for boom clearance.
MATERIAL REQUIRED

Following ia a Hat of material• required to aid in the erection of the machine. They are to be furniahed by the purchaaer.
ZOO - Standard rails
48 - Z x 10 or lZ" plank 12 to 14 feet long
100 -2 x 4 - 16 to 20 feet long
8 - Dead men logs 20" dia. x 7' to 8' long or can uae 32 standard railroad ties for anchoring derrick guya.
l - 310 cubic foot air compressor
l - Electric welding machine
Z - 25 to 30 ton low lift jacks
2 - 15 ton track Jacka
l - 15 ton chain,
