Changing Parameters
Many of the menu displays in the PMC-R menu are adjustable parameters that affect the way the supports operate. There are two types of parameters in the PMC-R program.
Numeric parameters (those preceded by a * symbol)
Text parameters
Parameters can be changed following the procedures below.
Numeric Parameters
Numeric parameters can be changed by
Navigate to the menu item you wish to change
Press the ‘Enter’ key
If the parameter is password protected the screen will show PASSWORD ?
Enter the password with the Numeric keys and press the ‘Enter’ key again Press the Numeric keys to enter the new value for the parameter
Press the ‘Enter’ key again to save the new parameter.
Text Parameters
Text parameters can be changed by
Navigate to the menu item you wish to change
Press the ‘P’ key (or for some parameters the ‘N’ key)
If the parameter is password protected the screen will show PASSWORD ?
Enter the password with the Numeric keys and press the Enter key
Press the ‘P’ key to scroll through the parameter options to the desired setting
Many of the parameters are password protected to prevent inadvertent altering of parameters as changes to many of the parameters could result in damage to equipment or danger to operators

Parameter Descriptions
Auxiliary Functions
Auxiliary functions allow operators to operate adjacent shield functions that do not have a dedicated key on the PMC-R keyboard. Accessing the Auxiliary Functions menu with the menu navigation keys will display the available Auxiliary Functions but not allow operation.
Operation
To operate an auxiliary function an adjacent support must be selected using the ‘H’ or ’I’ keys.
Selecting an adjacent support also automatically brings up the Auxiliary Functions menu.
The ‘L’ and ‘M’ keys are used to scroll up and down the menu of auxiliary functions once the menu is accessed.
• Operation of the function(s) is made using the ‘P’ key.
• When the ‘P’ key is used to activate a function it is a ‘DEADMAN’ key. The function will be carried out only as long as the key is pressed.
Remote Operation
If remote operation is enabled (see ‘Remote’ Parameter in Global Parameters) then the desired remote shield may be selected by first pressing the ‘H’ or ‘I’ key, followed by the ‘ENTER’ key and using the ‘N’ and ‘P’ keys.
Press the ‘N’ key to decrease and the ‘P’ key key to increase the distance to the shield you want to operate (adjacent shield, up to 5=5th adjacent shield). Press the ‘ENTER’ key to accept the selection. The selected shield can then be operated.

Special Auxiliary Functions
Special auxiliary functions are additional items in the auxiliary functions menu only available on the MG or TG solid group of SCUs (usually there are several shields at the M/G and at the T/G pushing together as a group) and on the Roadway shields.
BP MAIN and BP TAIL
These are not Deadman functions. They act as if you operate the 3 key (lock on push) on all the supports within the solid group simultaneously.
MG Group Only
BP MAIN ON OFF
Pressing the key turns the Bankpush solid ‘ON’ at MG
Pressing the key turns the Bankpush solid ‘OFF’ at MG
TG Buttress Only
Pressing the key turns the Bankpush solid ‘ON’ at TG
BP TAIL ON OFF
RCP MAIN and RCP TAIL
Pressing the key turns the Bankpush solid ‘OFF’ at TG
These are not Deadman functions. They act as if you operate the 6 key (lock on push) on all the supports within the solid group simultaneously. They also initiate a RCP Pull into the Face for the Snake length.

Measured Values
This menu has displays that show the values measured by the sensors on each support eg., leg pressures and the ram stroke value. It is not possible to change these values - they are for display only.
Pressures values are shown in bar
The ram stroke extension is displayed as a % of full stroke Each of the displays can be used to show the sensor readings of the support being operated and its neighbours up to 5 shields away. Switch from support to support with the N and P keys. The first characters in each display show which support is being monitored.
0 = measured values of own shield
x< measured values of left shields
