Introduction
GENERAL INFORMATION
Thismanualisdesignedtoassisttheownerintheoperationandpreventive maintenanceofthismachine.Followingeasytounderstandstep-by-stepprocedures, maintenancepersonnelcanperformthesetasksinasafemanner.Whenasystematic andthoroughmaintenance/serviceprocedure(aresponsibilityofthemaintenance superintendent)isusedforthismachine,minimumunplanneddowntimeandreliable operationwillresult.
THIS MANUAL IS NOT THE PARTS BOOK, andcannotbeusedtoorderparts.A separate,detailedpartsbookhasbeensupplied.Pleasecarefullyreadtheinstructions init.Allpartsarelistedbygroupand/orproductcodenumberswithitem/partnumbers for THIS SPECIFIC MACHINE. Orderpartsinexactquantity.Partsorderedbymistake andreturned,aresubjecttoarehandlingcharge.RIGHTandLEFTHANDPARTSon theupperframecorrespondtotheoperator'shandsatthecontrols;asseatedwhen operatingthemachine.PleasestatethecorrectmachineSERIALNUMBER(locatedon aplateintheoperator'scab)whencorrespondingorcontactingfactoryserviceorparts departments.Recordsoneachmachinearefiledbyserialnumberandwhengiventhis number,yourmachine'sspecificdesignandoriginalequipmentisaccessedquicklyby theDresserpartsrepresentative.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
Theownerand/oroperatormustreplaceanyandallsafetyandwarningproduct graphicsiftheyaredefacedorremovedfromthemachine.
Beforedoinganyworkonthemachine,aqualifiedelectricianmustlockoutorremove theelectricpowersupplyfromthemachineandtagitsopersonnelareawarethat someoneisworkingonthemachine.
Donotstartanengineindoorsunlessadequateexhaustventilatorsa·reprovided.Orice anengineisrunning,movethemachineoutdoorsassoonaspossible:
Keephands,feet,andclothingawayfromrotatingparts.
Donotmoveoroperatethemachinewithoutknowingthelocationandpurposeofall personnel,plustestorsupportequipment,inornearthemachine:··
Thinkbeforeyouact.Carelessnessisoneluxurytheservicemancannotafford.
Donotwearrings,wristwatchesorloosefittingclothingwhenworkingonmachinery. Theycouldcatchonmovingpartscausingseriousinjury.Neveradjustand/orservice amachineinbarefeet,sandalsorsneakers.
Alwayswearsafetyglasseswhenusingahammer,chisel.orothertoolsthatmay causechipstofly.···
Excessiveorrepeatedskincontactwithsealantsorsolventsmaycauseskinirritation. Incaseofskincontact,removesealantorsolventpromptlybywashingwithsoaparid water.
Neverutilizethemachineairorhydraulicsystemsforsupportwhenworkingonthe machine.Deactivateandisolatethesystempriortoperformingmaintenance.
Equipmentshouldbeparkedonlevelgroundatalltimesduring·machineservicingand periodsofidleness.
Cranesandhoistsmustbeofsufficientcapacitytoliftthehe~viercomponents(gear cases,dipper/bucket,boom,etc.)andhaveanamplesafetvrnargin.

Besureheavyitemsareproperlysupportedfromcranesorhoistsbeforeremoving supportingmembersfrommachine.····
Havesufficientservicepersonnelavailablewhenremovingorinstallinglarge,heavy itemstomaintaincontrolatalltimes.···'
AlwaysusesafetystandsinconjunctionwithhydraulicjacksorhoistsDonotrely_~ thejackorhoisttocarrytheload,theycouldfail.
Usesafetycatchonallhoisthooks.Donottakeachance,theloadcouldslipoffof thehook.
