Catalog Instructions

ILLUSTRATIONS:

The illustrations in this Parts Catalog cover mechanical parts manufactured by Bucyrus-Erie Company and mechanical units not manufactured by BucyrusErie Company.

The illustrations maynot show or describe the parts exactly as they maybe on the machine. However, parts or units will be supplied to fit the machine, if the ordering instructions are followed.

Right, left, front and rear are always determined from the operating position of the machine.

LEGENDS:

Provide a part name for each catalog reference number appearing on the re lated illustration.

Columns are provided to list actual part numbers, as replacement parts are furnished, also for the convenience of recording stock location numbers, or customers part numbers, etc.

CATALOG REFERENCE NUMBERS:

An identification number ofa part or unit. It must be used when ordering replacements.

A reference Number is assigned to designate the function ofa part or unit. Itwill always carry the same numberona similar machine andmodel,no matter if the part is the same or different, as long as it performs the same function.

EXAMPLE:

Illustration appearing in the Illustration not appearing in Parts Catalog (shows sheave the Parts Catalog, butmaybe with bushing) used on the machine, (sheave with bearing)

Whenan order is received for JR 9, either the bushing or the bearing will be furnished, depending on the modeland serial numberof the machine.

ELECTRICAL DEVICES:

Parts required for units manufactured by the main electrical supplier, such as: General Electric or Westinghouse, refer to their catalog, which was pro vided to suit the serial numbered machine.

Electrical devices not contained in the main electrical suppliers catalog can be obtained from the electrical data sheets furnished to suit the machine. Parts are to be ordered by the attached instructions.

AUXILIARY UNITS:

Replacements required for compressors, engines, etc., refer tothe separate manufacturers catalog for the listing of component parts.

FINDING A PART

To find a part refer to the Machine Unit Description or the Table of Contents and select the series of illustrations which will most likely include the parts needed. Check all the illustrations in the series until the part has been located.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR TWO PART CATALOG

The illustrations in PART ONE provide identification for parts manufactured or units mounted on the machine by Bucyrus-Erie Company.

The illustrations in PART TWO provide identification of parts for certain vendor units.

For PART ONE (white section) proceed the same as explained above under FINDING A PART. (ONE PART CATALOG)

For PART TWO (buff section) locate the vendor unit such as cylinder, pump, etc. in PART ONE. The complete unit is identified bya reference number. With this reference number turn to the Vendor Unit Cross Reference in PART TWO and use one of the following methods to locate the Detail Drawingof the unit:

1.If only one Detail Drawing is listed for the reference number, turn to that Drawing and select the parts needed.

2.Iftwoormore Detail Drawingsare listea forthereference number, thename plate reading of the unit on the machine MUST BE OBTAINED to determine which Detail Drawing to use, then turnto that Drawing and select parts needed.

3.Ifan asterisk is shown in the Detail Drawing column, the unit is not de tailed and should be ordered as a complete unit.

4.Ifa note, such as "See Separate Catalog" appears after the reference number, check the additional Vendor Catalog and/or Bulletins which were supplied with this Catalog.

When ordering parts fora vendor unit, the REFERENCE NUMBEROF THE COMPLETE UNIT, as listed on Drawings in PART ONE, MUST BE GIVEN. Also give the COMPLETE NAME PLATE READING of the unit mounted on the machine.

ORDERING PROCEDURE: The following information mustbe provided with the order for replacement (ONEORTWO PART CATALOG)

Model and serial number of the machine. Catalog reference number.

Name of part or unit.

Quantity required.

Name plate reading For engines, compressors, electrical devices, orany unit containing aname plate, be sure to include complete data listed.

Shipping instructions.
