Schulenburg Lodge features float in local parade SCHULENBURG – Schulenburg Lodge No. 14 will meet Wednesday, Oct. 12, at the Schulenburg Community Center. Refreshments are served at 6:30 p.m. and dinner and the meeting follow at 7 p.m. Special guest speaker for the August meeting was Adolph Thomas. The flagpole has now been put into place at the Navidad Baptist Cemetery. Nathan Loth will get a flag that can be raised and a ceremony will be held. Agent Mary K. Seifert reported that dancers are still registering online for classes. Agent Seifert was recognized for her sales efforts in the second quarter. She finished in third place in Region 1 for the number of applications written and for the amount of new premium income generated. Welcomed as new members were Michael Tofel, Noah Faith, Rhyon Sidney and Kamryn Carpenter. A Papa John’s pizza fundraiser was scheduled for Sept. 1. Serving on the Humanitarian Award Committee this year will be Susan Kohleffel, Kitty Dittrich and Frank Bohlmann. Georgia Kalich and family made a donation to the scholarship fund in memory of Agnes Hertel. Grace Baylor made a donation in memory of Laura Bartos and Clarence Guentert. Junette Rodecap made a donation in memory of Clarence Guentert. Acknowledgement was sent to the family. Hochheim-Prairie meets Oct. 2 YOAKUM – HochheimPrairie Lodge No. 90 will meet Oct. 2 at Turner Hall. Members welcomed 18 new junior members and one new adult member during the Aug. 14 meeting. All new members are encouraged to attend the monthly meetings usually held on the first Sunday of the month. Get-well cards were sent to Kendra Wenske and George Roznovsky. A sympathy card was sent to the Glenn

Ondrusek family. A moment of silence was observed in his memory. Cards were read from the Ondrusek family and the American Cancer Society. President Janet Zabransky read a thank you note from Carly Stehle, the lodge’s recent scholarship recipient. She will be attending Texas A&M. There will be a gala fundraiser for David Spaeth on Oct. 1. Tickets will be $60 for a dinner and dance.

Members agreed to make a donation to the auction. Dance classes started Sept. 13 in the Yoakum Intermediate School cafeteria. Online registration continues until Oct. 1.
