Vineta Lodge offers scholarship

Helotes to meet March 10 HELOTES – Helotes Lodge will hold its first quarterly meeting of the year on March 10 at 7 p.m. at Braun Hall. A hot meal will be provided. Everyone will have a chance to win a cash door prize just for attending. Adult and junior members are

asked to come float with the lodge at The Cornyval Parade in Helotes on May 2. The lodge will be representing Hermann Sons Life in the parade. Contact Shirley Jonas at 210-680-6867. She will be coordinating the lodge’s participation in the parade. – Letty Fragoso

McGregor installs officers McGREGOR – McGregor Lodge will not meet in March and April. The next meeting is set for May 6 at 6 p.m. at The Coffee Shop in McGregor. The February meeting was held at Luigi’s. Everyone enjoyed pizza and fellowship. President Doris Mooney gifted everyone with a Valentine dessert. She installed the 2020 officers. The lodge held a Valentine’s Day party at Westview Manor. Teresa Sneed, Leona Hendrickson, Betty Johnson, Karen Rice and Doris Mooney provided cookies. Congratulations go to Terry Westerfeld on his 60 years of membership. He became a member March 11, 1960. Congratulations also go to Milton and Yvonne Schmalriede on the marriage of their granddaughter, Lindsey Schmalriede,

to Colby Gohlke. Sympathy was extended to the family of Jesse Polston and to Gae Vick Woodruff on the passing of her mother-in- law. Glad to see Al Wolf at the meeting and feeling better. Get well wishes go to Milton Schmalriede. He’s at Westview Manor while he is healing. Betty Johnson is healing well after her surgery. “Happy Birthday” wishes were extended to Betty Johnson and Doris Mooney and Janet Schmalriede who was unable to attend at the last minute due to the weather. Anniversary bells will ring out for Al and Hermine Wolf on their 69th and John and Teresa Sneed on their 45th in April. Lucky door prize winners were Hermine Wolf and Betty Johnson. – Doris Mooney

SAN ANTONIO – College students and graduating high school seniors who are members of Vineta Lodge are reminded that scholarship applications must be in the office no later than March 16. The mailing address is 525 S. St. Mary’s St, San Antonio, Texas, 78205. A potluck meal is planned at the March 5 meeting. A social is planned for March 18. Members will play bunco. The 2020 calendars are available. The 2020 Fiesta medal for the San Antonio Hermann Sons Home Association is available. The cost is $10. Contact Ruth

The split-the-pot winner was Ron Roberts and the attendance award winners were Cynthia Holliday, Cecilia Padalecki, Genny Kraus and Ruth Bailey. The lodge mourns the passing of Dorothy Hammonds, a member for 71 years, and Madeline Zaiontz, a member for 30 years. Hope to see lots of members at upcoming functions. – Ruth Bailey

Spring Branch will meet on March 15 BULVERDE – Spring Branch Lodge will meet Sunday, March 15, at 2:30 p.m. in the Bulverde Community Center. The lodge welcomed four new junior members at the January meeting. Bernard and Neva Bosco were welcomed by way of transfer from Edelweiss-Magnolia Lodge. President Sharon Knibbe installed the other 2020 officers. They are Darrell Woody, vice president; Karen Woody, secretary/ treasurer; Gloria Gass, Mildred Bartels and Ben Havens, trustees; Jane Wanke, Phyllis Havens and

Chuck Knibbe, Finance Committee members; Alverne Halloran, cheer person; and Jane Wanke, reporter. President Knibbe stated that a trip to Canada and Seattle is being planned for August 2020. More information will be forthcoming. Attendance prizes were won by Mary Woody, Bernard Bosco, Ben Havens, Sandra Duncan, Alverne Halloran, Bill Woody and Sharon Knibbe. The meal was provided by Bill, Mary, Karen and Darrell Woody. – Jane Wanke

Prinz Solms reviews schedule for 2020 BULVERDE – Prinz Solms Lodge will meet Sunday, March 8, at 5 p.m. at the Bulverde Community Center. It is hoped that Executive Camp Director Ian Brassett will be able to attend and speak about the upcoming summer. At the February meeting, members and guests enjoyed a barbecue dinner with desserts provided by the members. Marketing Manager Letricia Rodriguez introduced herself and explained her role at the Home Office. President Cliff Klabunde distributed the 2020 schedule.
