We Strengthen Community Sharon Etlinger, right, accepts the Moulton Lodge Humanitarian Award from lodge President Barbara Anderle. Sharon is an active member of St. Joseph Church where she has played the organ for Sunday services for 50 years and where she regularly volunteers in many other capacities. She is also an active member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas.
Ellinger Lodge presented its 2019 Humanitarian Award to the Fayette County 4-H Club. Secretary Jerry Krenek, center, presented the award to Scott Willey and Sally Garrett at the lodge’s Christmas party. Scott and Sally are from the Agri-life Extension Service. A donation of $50 also was presented to the club in memory of Audrey and James Krenek. The lodge also bought a new microwave for the Ellinger Fire Department.

Donna Orsag is the Humanitarian Award recipient for Giddings Lodge for 2019. She is pictured with her husband, Larry. Donna and others developed an afternoon program for school children called Lee County Youth. Donna has been volunteering her time for 10 years as a member of the board of directors and assists with the fund-raising programs. Currently the program is housed at the First Presbyterian Church until a new building is finished.
Karnes City Lodge President Abigail Fenner, left, presents the Humanitarian Award to Melanie Johnson, a member for 53 years. Melanie is active in the school system, her church and many organizations in the local area. She is a loyal graduate of Texas A&M. Melanie and husband Terry have two children, Rhett Johnson and wife Rachel and Hailey Johnson.
Dr. Tom DeKunder, left, accepts the Marion Lodge Humanitarian Award from lodge President Morris Vader. The award was presented in recognition of Michael Venglar accepts the DaCosta Lodge Hu- Tom’s efforts to help the citizens and students of manitarian Award from LaVerne Hajek during the Marion, as well as his work on several beautificalodge’s Christmas party. Michael was chosen for tion projects in the city. the award in recognition of his volunteer repair work at the lodge hall over the years. He is the son of retiring hall managers James and Geraldine Venglar. Serving on the selection committee with LaVerne were Joe Pustka and Bernice Fabian.
