Fore! Hebe Golf Society tees off

衝啊！白沙灣高爾夫球隊開球了!

The inaugural Hebe Golf Society event was held at Kau Sai Chau golf course on 2 May. Experienced and amateur golfers alike congregated at Sai Kung pier which ferried the golfers to the verdant course for an 18-hole round putting their strokes to the test.

Kau Sai Chau is the only public golf course in Hong Kong and is just a short 15-minute voyage away from Hebe Haven. Set in the spectacular Sai Kung Peninsula, Kau Sai Chau boasts three courses—North, South and East, which feature open ocean vistas, challenging holes and a magnificent mountainous backdrop, ensuring the courses are not short of drama.

With refreshments on hand and buggies at the ready, the golfers opted to tee off on the South course. With some impressive swings, the action well and truly got underway though there were some first-hole mulligans. By the second hole, the competition began to heat up and it was decided that the golfers would be vying for the closest to the pin. After some serious putting, Club General Manager, Paul Arkwright, came closest on the second hole.

With balls flying down the fairway, members managed to make par on several holes. However, the refreshments seemingly began to affect some swings as several topped shots were made resulting in some of the players being forced to dig themselves out to get back in the game.

首屆白沙灣高爾夫球 活動（別與愉景灣混 淆）於2022年5月2 日在滘西洲高爾夫球 場舉行。經驗豐富的 高爾夫球老手和業餘 球手都聚集在Hebe One，將他們送到綠 油油的賽道進行18洞 的考驗。

滘西洲是香港唯一一 個公開高爾夫球場， 距離白沙灣僅15分鐘 路程。滘西洲座落西 貢半島，有北、南及 東三個球道，擁有廣 闊的海景、富挑戰性 的球洞和壯觀的山景 爲特色，令球道不失 趣味。

茶點和高球車都準 備好，高球隊選擇 在……球場上開球， 尋找……球洞。大杆 一揮，雖然有幾個重 發球，但流暢的動作 宣告活動正式開始。 比賽自第二洞起愈 來愈激烈，高球隊一 同爭奪最接近旗桿的 位置。經過一番推杆 後，遊艇會總經理 Paul Arkwright 來到最 接近第二洞的位置。

高爾夫球飛越球 道，高球手取得數 個平標準桿的成 績。但是茶點顯然 影響了一些球手， 他們打出數個削頂 球，只能打醒精神 重新投入賽事。

By the fifth hole, it was time to once again vie for the closest to the pin. After some serious waggling, it was society member Yim Tse Kim who was able to go the distance and become closest to the pin.

The eighth hole of the course tested the golfers’ ability to deliver the longest drive down the fairway. Each player rose to the occasion, though ultimately, it was Joanne Cheung who clinched the victory for the ladies with Paul Arkwright delivering the longest drive for the boys.

Despite ragging the longest drive of the day, Paul also managed what was probably the day’s shortest drive as he topped one of his tees and the ball rolled forward by three feet towards the ladies’ tee.

Few holes remained on the players’ first golfing event of the year and by the eleventh hole, it was decided to heat things up once more with another competition of closest to the pin. A few players hit it fat, but it was Tracy Young who hit it skinny, landing on the green and in closing distance of the pin.

Andrew Miller (Windy) impressed the group with his amazing ‘Tardis’ bag from which he pulled seemingly limitless libations to keep him and his teammates going until the nineteenth.

With the day’s golfing activities concluded, Hebe One arrived to ferry the players back to the Club and off to the restaurant where they were greeted with Chef Eric’s finest offerings. After a sumptuous feast accompanied by a few additional beverages, the merry band of golfers were awarded for their impressive performances.

The best overall foursome of the day went to Kay Patterson, Fung Tin Yin Tim, Paul Arkwright and Graeme Brechin. With Michael Turner, Kwok Kin Pui, Andrew Miller and Andrew Narramore in second whilst third went to Nicholas Robinson, Winnie Robinson Chan, Steven Derkrey and Alison Quinlivan.

Concluding the day’s events, the much-coveted wooden spoon award was awarded to Andrew Miller for his impressive performance.

到了第五洞又是時候再次爭奪最 接近旗桿的位置。一輪認真揮杆 過後，球手 Yim Tse Kim 終於去到 離標桿最近的距離了。

賽程的第八個洞測試了球手在球 道下擊出長球的能力。每位球手 都奮力直追，但最終冠軍由女子 組 Joanne Cheung 奪得，而男 子組 Paul Arkwright 則打出最 長距離。

在今年第一個高爾夫球活動上，只 留下幾個球洞。直至第11洞，最接 近旗桿距離的爭奪戰重新點燃了比 賽氣氛。幾名球手打出厚擊球， 但由 Tracy Young 打出過薄球， 成功降落於果嶺並接近旗桿。

當一天的活動結束時，高球手回 到 Hebe One，再到餐廳享受大 廚Eric的熱情款待。伴隨著豐盛 大餐及飲料，頒獎給表現出色的 隊伍。

當天的最佳隊伍為......Kay Patterson、Fung Tin Yin Tim、 Paul Arkwright 和 Graeme Brechin。

以及......第二名Michael Turner、Kwok Kin Pui、Andrew Miller 和 Andrew Narramore，第 三名為Nicholas Robinson、Winnie Robinson Chan、Steven Derkrey 和 Alison Quinlivan 組成。
