Vice Commodore's Report

ROBERT QUINLIVAN Vice Commodore Getting into the details As you will have noticed, there is a lot of work going on at the Club and the Planning and Works Committee continues to oversee a significant number of projects.

Key achievements We completed the air-conditioning upgrade works on time. Well done to Paul, CY and the team who managed to supervise the contractors and complete the project. The new air-conditioning system is working well and is also a heating system so we will be warm and toasty in the cooler weather. We’ve also taken the opportunity to repair various leaks in the restaurant roof so we should be nice and dry during the rainy season. Special mention to Billy and the F&B team who did a marvellous job and kept the operations going from the temporary kitchen in the Garden Bar. Thanks to all the members for your understanding during these essential works.

The female bathroom renovation is well underway. After some initial challenges with the temporary bathroom facilities, they seem to be operating as planned and we hope that the inconvenience will be manageable. Due to construction noise impacting the office staff, we’ve relocated some staff to temporary office locations.

You may have noticed some new temporary containers in the boatyard. These are designed to provide temporary office accommodation for some of our team as we work on enhancing the Club’s facilities. Feedback from the Sailing Centre team, who are now able to spread out a little in their new accommodation, has been very positive.

Looking ahead At the time of writing, I’ve just returned from a detailed review session of the plans for installing boat rack safety walkways. The purpose of the session was to challenge all aspects of the proposed plan including the detailed tasks, the sequence of the tasks and the overall timeline. Having firmed-up the plan, including reducing the overall timeline, we are now in a good position to conduct final negotiations with the tenderers to deliver the project as designed, with minimum disruption to members.

Some other project highlights: • Ground investigation works in the marina, which are a precursor to replacing the marina pylons, has commenced. • Detailed plans to install the access lift to the balcony has been submitted to the Buildings Department. • We continue to work on planning and necessary lease modifications in respect of the proposed Regatta Deck in place of the Garden Bar.

Safety You may have noticed that Club contractors working on the air-conditioning and bathroom projects are now clearly identifiable in high-visibility vests. This is part of our overall drive to make the Club a safer place for members, staff and contractors.

Thanks for your support as we continue to improve our Club’s facilities.
