Hamilton District Christian High 2018 - 2019 IMPACT REPORT

THANK YOU Exceptional Christian education is the priority at Hamilton District Christian High. We are grateful for you and honoured to partner with you in raising students to know and serve the Lord, growing in character through their learning for lives of service. You have shown a deep commitment to making Christian education accessible through your generous support of the Tuition Assistance Fund. Your support of the Student Project Fund provided resources for students to improve our communities. And your support for sustainability has helped us maintain and upgrade our school through the Capital Improvements Fund. We are grateful to our volunteers. You help at special events, come into the classroom to share expertise, invite students into your workplace, drive teams to sporting events, serve on committees, and attend Membership Meetings. Your time and talents are greatly appreciated. You love this school and support us with your prayers, your time, and your resources. Every gift to HDCH makes a direct and positive impact on the life of our students. You are evidence of God’s faithfulness to HDCH!

STUDENT PROJECT FUND The goal of the Student Project Fund is to provide financial resources for Project-Based Learning experiences that require more than the regular operating budget funds. Eligible projects integrate faith and learning, demonstrate strong potential for student growth and skill mastery, and have the potential for beautiful work that blesses our community beyond HDCH.

DIVERSITY IS OUR STRENGTH

WOULD YOU DRINK IT?

ELECTRIC TOYS

English students interviewed peers and staff at HD to learn more about their personal stories and to communicate that diversity in our school is a strength.

Chemistry students tested the chemical content of water sources to gain awareness of the importance of clean water and what the term ‘clean water’ can actually mean.

Students assumed the roles of safety officers, design consultants, and environmental engineers to build electric toys. They designed and built circuits, measured the voltage and current, and calculated the resistance.

VENTURE PLAYGROUND PROJECT

Calvin Christian School in Hamilton opened its new inclusive playground. The school was helped by our Grade 10 Venture class, which took the project from concept to reality in just one year. The playground has been designated as a PlayCore National Demonstration Site, the first in Hamilton!

FINANCIAL HIGHLIGHTS

#WHYHDCH “During the winter of 2018, our daughter, then in grade eleven, was eager to experience school. Coming from a homeschool environment, her transcript was rich and unorthodox, full of completely self-directed, independent studies and travel. She had chosen a very academic path, however another school had difficulty trying to ‘fit’ our daughter into their system. Our daughter is solid in her faith and we deemed her totally capable of handling whatever came her way, but she was left feeling like a piece of paper. We contacted HDCH and explained our frustration and received a response within the hour. They dealt so beautifully with our daughter and made her transition fluid and happy and she had a fabulous grade twelve year, academically and socially with understanding staff behind her. The peace of God is present at HD.” ~ Samantha C.

OUR MISSION to cultivate character through learning for lives of service to God.

OUR VISION to see all HDCH graduates become a faithful presence in the community that they serve.
