you show affection through your behavior. I can not express how much you have helped me through my journey in HCC. You made me more determined to further my education and get my degree as you pushed the idea of receiving a college education. You have made the time completing assignments a bit more enjoyable with delicious snacks. Thank you for always being with me and helping me through each semester, Dad!

our actions have said it all. The rare times with words of encouragement such as “good job” or “you can do it” have impacted me as well, but your actions that you might think go unnoticed have been the light that guided me through the times when I needed it. You have helped me attend HCC and set up a meeting with Susan Ratanavong, which relieved some of the uncertainty that comes with graduating from high school. I clearly remember us walking through the parking lot and entering the wrong buildings on that icy cold winter afternoon. Our noses were bright red from the cold wind blowing on our faces until we found the correct spot. You sat beside me on that day and listened intently in case I missed any information. As she explained about the programs available and how to fill out the application, I knew then that I would decide to start my college career here. I was faced with another challenge of taking online courses. You always said that you wish you could help but never went to college yourself, so you felt as though you couldn’t. However, the efforts you made to comfort me formed a major support system that I knew I could always rely on. Through the long nights that I stayed up to finish my work before the deadline, you would make sure that I was not too stressed before heading to sleep. You would bring me snacks and drinks to eat or ask if I was hungry throughout the day which reminded me that it was time to take a break. Those are the precious moments that I cherish. Even though you do not express much with words, I know exactly what you are saying as
