To my Dearest Big Brother,

Although we weren’t always very close during my childhood, in recent years, you have become one of my favorite people. You’ve been there for me at every point in my life and made me who I am today. You encouraged me to do what I wanted rather than what was expected of me. You were my main support when times were tough and put up with me even through my worst and for that I’m eternally grateful. You’ve played an enormous role in my life, essentially as a third parent. You came to my rescue with late night homework problems, you helped me through college applications and you advised me when I got my first job. You were the voice of reason for me but also the fun big brother that always had a smile and a witty comeback. I remember seeing you graduate from HCC nearly eight years ago, and now I hope you’ll be proud to see me do the same. You’re the reason I still strive to do better every day, you’re the reason I work hard, and you’re the reason I went to college. I’ll continue to work hard to make you proud and follow in your footsteps. I hope that someday I can be half the outstanding person you are. Thank you for being there when you didn’t have to. Thank you for always having my back. And thank you for being the amazing person you are.
