’m pretty sure you’ve heard how important organization is, time after time after time! But have you ever implemented it? Well, now it is time to pull out your planners, make your checklist, and get started!
An app that I love to use for organizations is Google Calendar, their best features for organizations to me would have to be that you can create new calendars for different parts of your life. For example, you can have a calendar for (sports practice, school, and work). Desktop notifications allow you to have the notification on all your devices. So not only can it help you stay sane it can help you stay put together.
As a First-Generation college student, balancing life and school was a bit rocky, and I wished that I had someone that had gon e through this or currently is. Although the HCC staff was and is very accommodating, it can feel very intimidating to go on and be on your own. One thing that has helped me is staying organized. One way I like to be organized is by creating a list that has what I need to do in order of priority. For example, if I have a paper due at five today, a project due at nine, and then ten tomorrow an assignment. I’ll go into the notes app on my phone the night before and write those down in order, then check it off when I complete the task. Not only is it amazing to see all the work you’ve done, it feels good to see all you have accomplished.
I suggest that you invest in a planner or some sort of planning app to put your assignments in if possible. Sometimes your professor will have all your assignment dates on the syllabus, so that you can put them in your calendar via Google Calendar or what you choose to use to plan. I personally like to set them a few days earlier so that I can have time to make sure everything goes off with a hitch! After this, you will feel that huge boulder leave your chest and feel relieved.
