We accept cash, cheques, debit, Apple and Google Pay, Visa and Mastercard. Credit cards are subject to a 3% load fee.

WAIT LIST

If a program is full, you may place your name on a wait list. You will be contacted when space becomes available.

CREDITS & REFUNDS

Credits will be given when possible in the event that programming is cancelled. Full refunds will be issued only when participants withdraw from programming prior to start date.

CANCELLATIONS

The Town reserves the right to cancel any program. Registrants will receive notice of cancellation prior to the program start date

MEMBERSHIPS & PUNCH PASSES

Memberships and punch passes are nontransferrable. Admittance will only be permitted under the registered name.

SWIMMER SWIM LESSONS

The Lifesaving Society's 6-level Swimmer Program makes sure your children learn how to swim before they get in too deep Swimmer progressions accommodate children 5 years and older including absolute beginners as well as swimmers who want to build on the basics

Lessons include in-water practice to develop solid swimming strokes and skills. We incorporate Water Smart® education in all levels

PRESCHOOL SWIM LESSONS

Give your child a head start on learning to swim

The Lifesaving Society Preschool program develops an appreciation and healthy respect for the water before these kids get in too deep

In our basic aquatic progressions we work to ensure 3 - 5 years old become comfortable in the water and have fun acquiring and developing a foundation of water skills. Lessons incorporate Lifesaving Society Water Smart® education in all Preschool levels

BRONZE MEDALLION

Minimum 13 years of age or Bronze Star certification required This program challenges the candidate both mentally and physically. Judgement, knowledge, skill and fitness are the 4 components of water rescue that form the basis of Bronze Medallion training

BRONZE CROSS

Bronze Medallion and Standard First Aid required

This program begins the transition from lifesaving to lifeguarding and prepares candidates for responsibilities as assistant lifeguards

Bronze Cross is a prerequisite for advanced training in the Society's National Lifeguard and leadership certification programs.

SWIM PATROL

This program is the on-ramp to lifeguarding. Ability is the only prerequisite. This program continues to develop participants’ swim strokes and provides the skill foundation that prepares them for success in the Bronze courses.

BRONZE STAR

No Prerequisites Swim Patrol experience recommended

This program develops swimming proficiency, lifesaving skill and personal fitness Swimmers will refine their stroke mechanics, acquire self-rescue skills and apply fitness principles in training workouts

Whether you're just starting out or just want help with your strokes, the adult program is for the young at heart Set your own goals. Work with certified instructors to learn to swim or improve your current swimming ability and water fitness

After School programming organizes activities and initiatives that take place outside of school hours These programs are designed to emphasize active play and activities Our team works closely with local area schools to plan for PD Days, early dismissal, and seasonal breaks

AFTER SCHOOL CLUB

After School Club offers a safe space for kids to play and learn everyday after school, Mondays through Thursdays from 3:30pm - 5:30pm, and on Fridays from 1:00pm - 5:30pm We prioritize physical activity, social interaction and provide peanut-free snacks. SUMMER HEAT

Our annual Summer Heat day camp program will be held this year from July 2 - August 23, catering to children aged 5-12.

Summer Heat headquarters is located at the Hay River Community Centre, providing a safe and convenient environment for summer adventures Operating Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 5:30pm, full day programming will ensure that your child's needs are met during the summer break

Each of the 8 weeks of Summer Heat is based on a different theme, guaranteeing a diverse range of exciting and engaging activities for our campers. From outdoor adventures and swimming to creative arts and crafts, team-building games, and interactive educational sessions, there's something for everyone to enjoy.

To fuel their energy throughout the day, campers are encouraged to bring their own nutfree snacks and lunch Our dedicated staff will ensure a nut-free environment to accommodate all campers.

REGISTRATION FOR SUMMER HEAT WILL TAKE PLACE ONLINE ONLY THIS YEAR, ensuring a seamless and efficient process for all participants. Registration forms for Summer Heat will be available online at www.hayriver.com/youth-programs. Premium registration for Summer Heat opens June 3, with general registration opening on June 4.

Multi-Sport

Programming

Multi-Sport is designed to accommodate various sports simultaneously. The Aurora Ford Arena & Hay River Curling Rink is equipped with the necessary amenities and equipment to support different sports and provide a versatile space for athletes to train, compete and engage in various activities.

BADMINTON & PICKLEBALL LEAGUES

April - May

Join our adult recreational racquet sport leagues, offering both singles and doubles badminton and pickleball options! Our leagues follow a challenge ladder format, giving you the flexibility to play as much or as little as you'd like You will be responsible for scheduling your own matches by challenging other players. It's a great way to improve your skills, meet new people and have a blast on the court.

This league is the ultimate chance to dive into the thrill of the game every week From a fun practice kick-off to team selections, it's a rollercoaster ride of action! And the grand finale? Playoffs, baby! Registration is required for youth ages 9 - 15 years old

This coaching clinic is designed for coaches of players age 7 and up. By the end of the clinic participants should be able to: develop a coaching philosophy, identify and manage the tasks involved in coaching a community softball team, analyze and teach basic skills, ensure a healthy competitive experience and plan a practice

ParticipACTION Community Challenge

The Participaction Community Challenge is an annual challenge where communities across Canada compete for the title of Canada’s Most Active Community. The grand prize is $100,000 to be used towards community recreation programming and/or infrastructure. Hay River is once again competing in this national challenge with the Recreation Department leading the charge! See below for some of the exciting challenges that are guaranteed to help you get active throughout the month of June!
