Happy spring Hayden! Or at least that's what we all wish we were saying to each other It seems like mother nature keeps throwing the “S” word at us just when things start to get sunny Speaking with a long-time resident while at the COOP gas pump I said, “Think it will stop snowing?” and he replied, “It snowed like this every winter when I was a kid.” With all the snow this winter, the Town has been focusing on the Hayden Center and improving our indoor programs while planning for our upcoming outdoor season.

We started the second - and final - phase of construction at the Hayden Center which should be completed by the end of 2023 The Town has secured the funding for the construction of a 6ft-wide pedestrian sidewalk along Hwy-40 on the east end of Town between Shelton Ln and Pine St , as well as between Mountain Valley Bank and Pine Estates on the North side of Hwy-40 The business park is moving along with construction starting in September

We also welcome our new Recreation Director, Rhonda Sweetser Ms Rhonda was the former principal of Hayden Elementary as well as an educator for 30 years. We are thrilled to have Rhonda join our team in this position.

As always, a sincere thank you to our entire community for being amazing people.

The Town of Hayden Planning Commission is currently reviewing the Main Street Apartments Site Plan Application for the construction of 109 apartment dwelling units and approximately 5,800 square feet of commercial space located along HWY40 in downtown Hayden

The conversation was tabled after the Feb 23 Planning Commission Meeting to review a proposed alternative traffic access plan for the project and allow for public questions during a Community Open House at Town Hall.

Please join us Wednesday, March 15 from 5:00 - 6:30 p m at Town Hall for an opportunity to ask questions about an alternative traffic access plan for this proposed development

The Town of Hayden is in the process of reviewing our outdoor recreation amenities and economy alongside a student group from the University of Colorado, Masters of the Environment program as part of the modified Recreation Economies for Rural Communities program. As the Town explores ways to diversify and strengthen our economy, we recognize that the outdoor recreation sector is a possible area of focus that can also result in improved, increased and better accessible outdoor recreation opportunities for the community

We invite you to participate and share your ideas as we explore:

What type of outdoor recreation best suits the Hayden area and how can it be improved?

How do we make outdoor recreation more accessible to all our community members?

How can we leverage outdoor recreation to increase economic opportunities?

WE ARE HAYDEN.

We believe in living true to our roots and true to ourselves That each of our lives looks differently, each is equally valuable and freedom comes from living it in our own way

We stand in awe at the beauty that surrounds us and are deeply grateful to live here. Thankful for our ancestors and the road they paved for us and honored to do the same for our children and grandchildren. Through hard work, optimism, and each other we will leave this place better than we found it

We believe that wholesome is underrated and simple is misunderstood. We are proud of our way of life, even as the world changes around us. We offer welcoming, open arms to those that come to us, always making room for more, but never at the expense of our values

We believe home really is where the heart is Where community is cultivated, memories are shared, values are created.

WE ARE THE HEART OF THE YAMPA VALLEY.
