Background to the scheme The development at the former Solar Serena Sunrise sheltered scheme has created 175 high-quality new homes in a retirement community village for the over 55’s.

The village sits on the edge of the Green Flag-winning Harrow Lodge Park, which benefits from lakes, reservoirs, wildlife and open green spaces.

The new homes are also a short walk to Hornchurch Town Centre, home to popular shops, cafes and restaurants.

The first adverts for this scheme have been advertised on the Havering Council’s Housing Allocation Choice Based Lettings Scheme and have had a number of applicants that are currently on the Housing waiting List.

These will now be reviewed using the Local Lettings Policy- so anyone within Hornchurch aged 55 or over will be offered these properties first.

We anticipate blocks A, C and E will be handed over to the Housing Team in October/ November 2023 and Blocks B and D will be handed over in January/ February 2024. This is subject to change.

The Council Housing Team are looking to move social housing tenants into their new properties soon after.

Parking and road works There are 92 car parking spaces, of which include 12 visitor/ staff spaces and 6 disabled spaces. The rest (74 spaces) will be shared between the residents in social, open market and shared ownership properties.

The works on the speed humps at Sunrise Avenue and a section of Parkhill Close will be carried out after the construction works at Park Rise are completed.
