Often when we are in the process of designing the architecture and interiors of a home, the client will find a particular piece of hanging or sculptural art and request that we create appropriate spaces to locate and light the art. What’s your advice for a new homeowner who is looking to include more art pieces throughout their home? Take time to look at a great deal of art and hone your taste. For many taste in art evolves over the years. Because of this it is important to purchase pieces that you really love and want to live with. Remember, art should be able to move from home to home and to different locations within the same home. We always encourage clients to create collections that can be beautifully displayed. How has an appreciation for the arts influenced your own life? This is a really good question. I own several pieces that I purchased 15 to 20 years ago. One is Venus De Milo by Yves Klein and the other a large painting by Jason Martin. These are very good quality pieces that I enjoy more and more with time. I had to stretch at the time to purchase these pieces but they have turned out to be wonderful to live with and that is worth the price.
